Think You've Seen It All... Think Again! was the tag line for the Series Two Trailer[1] which was a promotional video advertising the second series of the revival of Doctor Who.

On 5 April 2006, a 15 second teaser advertising the Tardisodes, using elements of this trailer began airing.[2]

Notes

  • There were three versions of the video, a 60 second full length one, a 40 second "cut-down" one, and a 20 second "cut-down" one.
  • The music used in the video was the "Doctor Who theme" arrangement by Murray Gold.
  • Elements from these videos (non-letterboxed) were used for some of the normal BBC One episode trailers throughout Series 2.
  • The videos were letterboxed to mimic CinemaScope aspect ratio to give it a filmic look.
  • The videos were shot on 35mm film.[3]
  • The videos were recorded on the TARDIS standing set at Unit Q2, Newport on Saturday 18 March 2006.[3]
  • This video also featured clips from New Earth, Tooth and Claw, School Reunion, and The Age of Steel.

Christmas special

On 2 December 2005, the first 10 second teaser for The Christmas Invasion aired on BBC One; a second 10 second teaser later aired on c. 9 December. They were also released online on the Doctor Who website, and teased the Christmas tree and Santa brass band respectively.

A 30 second video began airing from 11 December, and a second 30 second video from 19 December. All these featured the tagline Something's coming...

Immediately after the Christmas special, a 15 second video advertising Attack of the Graske, aired on BBC One; however it was referred to as Doctor Who Interactive. During the video a link to BBCi, labelled Fly the TARDIS, appeared in the top right-hand corner.

Main series

A 2'50'' promotional video began airing on the BBCi service from 14 April 2006, it had been created for the press launch on 28 March 2006, and the music used was "Colossus" by Hollywood Trailer Music Orchestra and the "Doctor Who theme" arrangement by Murray Gold. It featured clips from Tooth and Claw, School Reunion, The Girl in the Fireplace, Rise of the Cybermen, The Age of Steel, The Idiot's Lantern, The Satan Pit, and Army of Ghosts.

Six teasers, each lasting between 12-19 seconds were released, one per day, between Sunday 2 July-Friday 7 July 2006 counting down to the broadcast of Doomsday.

Home video releases

  • As of March 2023, none of the promotional videos are available on home media, however the main video is still viewable on the BBC website.[4]
