hey, i noticed that you deleted the "Dark Pit of Rough" page. I had a look at the picture

[1]

and i didn't realize that the link to the article name in Happy Deathday was not correct,

sorry about that, but i wish that you could have told me that beforehand, i would have request to delete the article and then move the contents to the right name Sclera1 talk to me 03:54, May 17, 2012 (UTC)

FP deletion

Please immediately stop deleting FP-related stuff. I will take care of deletions once the content has been entirely migrated to the FP wiki. Thanks.
czechout<staff />   15:55: Tue 29 May 2012

Wow. It's not just that you've deleted pages prematurely, but you've edited away FP information pages that still exist here. You've completely screwed up what would otherwise have been an orderly migration of data from this database to w:c:factionparadox. Now I have to undo a ton of your edits before I can even move the articles. You really should have asked what was going on before you assumed you knew what the deal was. And if you didn't want to talk to people, you could have at least read the forum discussions carefully, Had you done so, you'd have learned that this effort was about moving articles, not simply about deleting the information. As a matter of compliance with CC-BY-SA 3.0, I have to actually perform a full on export of the data. For convenience, it's best to export the version which includes FP information, and then whittle away the DWU info. So now I have to go back and undo what you've done just to move it. You've massively expanded the time necessary to complete this somewhat tedious task.
You must start involving yourself in the community. I don't have enough hours in the day to continue cleaning up after your deletions which are not in compliance with group discussions. This is basically a repeat of the timeline deletion fiasco that you visited upon us. I'm therefore blocking you from all editing for 72 hours to give me time to make the final moves of FP data. You are also being stripped of admin powers until 7 June 2012.
czechout<staff />   17:10: Tue 29 May 2012
I was able to undo your damage more quickly than anticipated. Your block has been lifted and your admin powers returned. However, I urge you to please surface from time to time in forum discussions so that you're better apprised of what's going on around the wiki.

Monobook backround

Are you sure you've cleared your cache? I'm editing in Monobook right now and I'm not having any problems reading anything. Could you maybe take a screenshot and let me see what you're looking at? Also, what browser are you're using? If Internet Explorer, note that we don't guarantee compatibility.
czechout<staff />   13:47: Fri 01 Jun 2012

Yes, but the way it's fixed entirely suggests to me that you're on a very old browser and/or IE < 9.0. You should be aware that if you don't upgrade your browser soon, you will increasingly lose functionality. I can't guarantee that I'll be able to keep design elements that work for your situation — mainly because Wikia itself have recently been more declarative about what browsers they support.
czechout<staff />   13:57: Fri 01 Jun 2012
Even if you're using IE 9, however, complete compatibility is not guaranteed. IE, no matter the version number, isn't supported on this site any longer. IE has <18% market share these days, and has been in steady, monthly decline since the wiki opened in 2004. This means that it's peculiarities need no longer be catered for. You have a better shot of being able to see the site with IE 9+, but, still, IE is simply too different from other browsers to guarantee complete compatibility — especially in Monobook, which is offered on an "as-is" basis, anyway. I strongly urge you to switch to Firefox, Google, or Safari. Alternately, if you really want to keep IE, you can change your own, personal CSS if you see a problem.

Wikipediainfo

Is the wikipediainfo really necessary on Crystal ball? I didn't use wikipedia to write the summary at the top. Or is it just one of those things that you have to use on pages with meta-explanations? Memnarc talk to me 07:25, June 14, 2012 (UTC)

FP stuff

I see at The Enemy that you went through and changed the redlinks to FP stories to interwiki links to w:c:factionparadox. Please don't do this. Instead, rip these statements out of this wiki entirely. FP books and stories are not valid sources any more. As determined by various forum discussions to which I've alerted you in the past, we're trying to delete statements from FP sources — not just keep them around with a different kind of link. If you really feel that a particular statement is absolutely necessary, you can retain it, but put it in the behind the scenes section. Additionally, you should add a {{fpx}} statement to the "external link" section of any article from which you delete FP information. Thanks :)

Binary

I sort of messed up and after already changing all the links, decided to move Clockwork (The Blue Angel) to Clockwork (species) once I realised that that was the more "proper" place. Don't delete videos just cause they're "unused"

I know you love to delete unused files, so I should tell you that videos don't obey the expected rules of file usage. If you go to cricket bat, you'll see a video in the right rail. This video, File:Coming to terms with regeneration - Doctor Who Castrovalva - BBC is actually on cricket bat, regeneration and Fifth Doctor. But being in the right rail doesn't "count" towards the file usage stat, so you get this false positive "no pages link to this image" message.

For this reason, I'd advise that you not delete videos on the basis of the "file usage" stat. You should pretty much assume that every video uploaded is being used somehow, even if it's not readily apparent how.

Re-added a page you deleted some time back, Gamma radiation. Sourced everything, but the fictional behavior is radically different than real world gamma radiation. Added a behind the scenes section, not sure if it's a no-no but I couldn't think of any other way to point out the specific variations between the two. Edit War at Controller (Bad Wolf)

Hi, I hope I'm right in thinking you're an admin - would you be able to lock the page at Controller (Bad Wolf)? A couple days ago an unregistered user started changing the page around (Controller to Fat Controller, Daleks to Steam Engines, Davros to David, etc.) and since I was on when I noticed it, I changed it back. Now I get a notification every time the page is changed, and the same user keeps making the same edits. I've inadvertently involved myself in an edit war and I'd like it to stop. TARDIStraveler 11:48, March 28, 2013 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you twice, but the same user that was vandalizing the Controller page has now started on the pages for Dalek and Supreme Dalek - changing the words Dalek to Diesel Engines. I want to let an admin know, because this guy is being really obnoxious about it, and I don't have time to run around undoing his erroneous edits. His IP is 2.223.154.182. Thank you. The Heavy Hand of Forum Moderation & Disappearing Discussions

Could you leave links to other community Forums (like The Howling) and Forum archives onto the main Community Forum page? It has been frustrating to me to post questions to the Reference Desk and then returned to find they have disappeared, sometimes deleted and sometimes moved to other Forums that do not appear on the Forums main page.

I can understand why the Reference Desk is so rarely used compared to the Topic Talk pages where I have found friendly discussion and help. But if there is going to be this overzealous policing and shutting down of ongoing conversations in the Reference Desk Forum, there should be an easy way to track down where the *$%+## moderator has moved them. 63.143.217.227talk to me 19:07, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

Zombie Page

Hey, I was just looking at the "zombie" page, and I personally think that it needs some restructuring: first off, the main part refers only to the original zombie from Haitian lore, when in fact the very name "zombie" has since more or less evolved into a general term covering most resurrected corpses. In addition, the second section, "Minor References", is about as vague as it can get. Do you think that we should restructure and improve the article? --Dr. Anonymous1 14:43, April 20, 2013 (UTC)

Unsigned personal attacks

On the page Howling:Unresolved plot cookies - Series 7 part 2, a user with a variable IP address beginning 63.143... has been making unsigned personal attacks. I've identified the IP addresses from the page's history. As far as I can tell, this user has made no other contribution to that discussion. (Please note that my own IP address changes -- often radically -- each time I connect to the Internet, so I'm not likely to receive any message left on the talk page for my current address.) --89.241.69.58talk to me 01:38, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

Blogs and getting started

Hello, I am getting quite used to this Wikia already, but I've heard of Blog posts. I'd like to hear how to make these, as I've not seen any buttons for it. I'd also like to know which topics are allowed. For istance, if I wish to blog about something completely non-Doctor Who, for instance Harry Potter, would that be okay?

Thank you for your time.

deleted sandbox

Is there a particular reason that you deleted my Sandbox? Anoted 05:04, May 2, 2013 (UTC)

It's been two days since I left this message and I have NOT received a reply (and you have been editing during this time). You deleted a personal userpage of mine and you did not leave me a message on my talk page or even provide an explanatory edit summary. I'm assuming that the page was causing a serious problem of some kind and had to be deleted, because I can't see why my userpage would have been deleted otherwise. I can't figure out why you didn't just blank the page and leave me a message, but that's why I came here. I suspended judgement and asked. Ignoring me is seriously not cool. Anoted 17:31, May 4, 2013 (UTC)
Sorry about the lateness of my reply. The reason I deleted your page is because userpages are supposed to have the prefix User: and without it they seem to be regular article pages. I will try to be more careful in the future. Doug86 20:21, May 4, 2013 (UTC)
I didn't notice that--somehow it got created without a user prefix...not sure what happened, adding a /Sandbox1 to the url of my userpage should have created it with a user prefix. Fortunately the text of the page was short enough that I was able to rescue it and add it to another sandbox. Anoted 03:11, May 5, 2013 (UTC)

Atropa belladonna

Hi. Why exactly did you delete Atropa belladonna? I'm sure you have a reason, but you didn't cite one and I can't think of any.

I mean, it's named in the script, and I said nothing that not written in it:

Is it? Yes. I thought so. Atropa belladonna. Deadly Nightshade.
[...]
Remember, we brought no food with us and the only water available is that poisoned water out there with Deadly Nightshade.

Oh, and I missed a piece of info: atropine is the poisonous bit.

Anyway, I'm sure there is a reason, but I have checked to the best of my abilities and there is no duplicate anywhere. Or at least I haven't found it yet.
--SOTO 04:09, June 29, 2013 (UTC)

The reason is because we already have a page for this at Belladonna. My apologies for not citing the reason for the deletion. Doug86 04:47, June 29, 2013 (UTC)
Ah, thank you.
But... umm... "Belladonna" is technically an incorrect title, and it's never identified as such in the serial. It's only ever called "Atropa belladonna" and "Deadly Nightshade" (capitalised as such both in my CC and according to its Wikipedia article). Therefore, both "Belladonna" and "deadly nightshade" are bad titles. Sure, they can stay as redirects, but the article should rest at either Atropa Belladonna or Deadly Nightshade.
I'll put a {{rename}} tag now.

Snivystorm 15:11, July 10, 2013 (UTC)

Hi Doug You responded to my edits on the page about my grandfather William Hartnell. I'm afraid I may not have done all this in the correct manner as I am a little confused by the systems on these websites! A lot of the information on there was incorrecct and it frustrates me that it appears to have been gleaned from newspaper articles which, I have already pointed out in my biography of my grandfather, are often inaccurate. I have corrected the data with a brief summary but I do somewhat object to the comments (which I haven't yet removed) about my biography being a "hagiography". This was not the judgement of the jounalists from the newspapers who reviewed my book when it was published 16 years ago. Amongst others, the Sunday Telegraph and the Daily Mail gave it very good reviews, implying how unbiased it was. (I'll happily scan in the copy should you so wish me to "prove" this - if there is some way of emailing you these). I'm not sure who the one person in the Doctor Who press is who didn't warm to my biography - perhaps because I staunchly refused to invent information I couldn't verify and I gave personal memories of his involvement in Doctor Who, but I can assure you that all the information in my book came from diaries, letters, programmes, photographs and my mother, who was Bill's daughter, and interviews with people who had worked with him. I object to the inference in the article on this site that "Information is hard to verify" - perhaps this can be removed by yourself as it would seem untrue. It implies I am lying. If that person would like to challenge any specific facts, then they are free to contact me, my work address is easily found on the net.

In the same way, "fluffs" are constantly discussed without any reference being made to the fact that the show was recorded virtually as live with only a couple of post shoot edits. The programme had a 48 week a year schedule, something which would never ever be considered nowadays with such a small core cast, so the pressure on Bill who was in virtually every episode was immense. Is it possible to introduce a note about that into the discussion of the fluffs? I would be grateful.

I had endless problems with the main wikipedia entry where it took me ages to correct the facts of his birth and there ONE person's view was allowed to cloud his biography. One person, who clearly didn't get on with him, claimed he was anti-semitic when Bill in fact adored Carole Ann Ford his first companion AND Verity Lambert, both of whom were Jewish. He may well have been sometimes bigoted (not surprising given the prevailing views of his generation), but he was never so on a personal level and it is unpleasant to have prove things which most of those involved will attest to..

If I need to do something quite different to amend your tardis website, then please do help me do it correctly! ~ ~ ~ ~

I noticed you are non-cannon. Do you ship any fandoms besides DW?

Christmas cheer

Happy holidays!

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

We've received an unprecedented level of support from Wikia Staff, resulting in all sorts of new goodies and productive new relationships. And we've recently decided to lift almost every block we've ever made so as to allow most everyone a second chance to be part of our community.

2014 promises to build on this year's foundations, especially since we've got a full, unbroken series coming up — something that hasn't happened since 2011. We hope you'll stick with us — or return to the Tardis — so that you can be a part of the fun!

Double real world

It seems you picked up on a mistake I made with my bot — two {{real world}}s on lists of appearances. Sorry about that; it seems I forgot to write my exceptions so that it looked for both {{real world}} and {{Real world}}. My mistake. Just a difference of three characters changed it drastically. In the future, though, you can just come to me (or Czech, of course) if you have a repetitive task with a pattern like this one, particularly because this time it was my fault. Sorry again.

Madeleine

Hey, me again. I was just wondering why you deleted the dab page Madeleine in December. Looking at the last revision, I don't really see anything wrong with it — there are three pages, six if you count the behind-the-scenes ones. I don't doubt that you had your reasons; I'm just wondering what they might have been.
--SOTO 02:08, January 15, 2014 (UTC)

I deleted it because dab pages for first names generally only used when there are multiple characters which are known only by that one name and no other. Since there are no characters known only as Madeleine, I believed that it was no longer necessary. Doug86 02:59, January 15, 2014 (UTC)
Oh, okay. Fair enough. I guess I'll recreate it, then, only if and when there's another DWU individual (or two) known only as Madeleine.

User talk:176.250.92.228, I left a note here, and the response was to create a user page like this:

"--IT IS I!--

Yes, I'm back, and I don't really care about Doug86 any more, simply vandalizing as much as I can, starting with Ol' Tennyboy here."

Proposed transwiki

I already posted this at the Panopticon, but thought I would notify an admin also. An article on Wikipedia, List of Doctor Who serials by setting, is being seriously considered for deletion. Please tell me why? Don't know what I did wrong.

Hello,

May I as why you undid what I did with Waitress and Waitress (disambiguation)? I thought I was doing what the previous cleanup tag wanted. Where did I go wrong? You can see where I got my previous info here: Talk:Waitress

I'd appreciate it if you took a few moments to explain so I won't do it again. (You didn't give one earlier)

Thanks--Rebazim 17:40, June 4, 2014 (UTC)

You're not supposed to change a page name by copying a page and pasting it onto a new page; you're supposed to use the move page function. Doug86 17:42, June 4, 2014 (UTC)

My idea was to end up using the Waitress page as an occupation page. Like Journalist. I just did not have time to do so at that moment. I was moving the information that I deduced was "dab" info to a new page. Then, I was planning to come back today and make Waitress into a proper occupation page. I did not want to move the page, I wanted to split the page. Is that wrong? And if not, may I please revert it to the way I planned to use it? (Also, I thought that other people would be able to understand my meaning because I linked to the Waitress page on the dab page, exactly like the example I was given: Space pirate and Space pirate (disambiguation))--Rebazim 19:41, June 4, 2014 (UTC)

I don't think that waitress needs a dab page any more than journalist does. Doug86 21:14, June 4, 2014 (UTC)

So you'd rather it be converted into an occupation page? Reformat it?--Rebazim 21:20, June 4, 2014 (UTC)

Yes. Doug86 21:23, June 4, 2014 (UTC)

Ok. Thank you. Also, may I ask a favor? I know I would prefer (and many others too, I'm sure) if you would just give a brief description like "doesn't need separate page, reformat" rather than "undoing Rebazim's edit". It would have saved both of us a lot of time and made me feel a lot less stupid, and singled out. I really am trying to learn the wiki. Thanks for your time, and sorry I bothered you so much.--Rebazim 21:30, June 4, 2014 (UTC)

It's not a bother, really, and I apologize for not including the brief description. I made my share of mistakes when I first started using wiki too. Doug86 21:32, June 4, 2014 (UTC)

List of crew by <whatever time factor>

Hey, Doug. I hope you caught the discussion at Thread:156099. I know those "list of crew by <whatever time factor>" lists were a little project of yours, but the templates on which they were based were just not up to the task. Those pages were monster processor hogs for the wiki, and they were never meant to do the kind of lists those pages eventually grew into. Upper limit on those templates before you start seeing significant processor issues is between 100-200 — far more than the ambition of those pages. So I had to delete them.

If you don't already have an offline copy, you can of course look at a deleted revision with your admin powers and snag a copy there. But please do not recreate anywhere on the wiki, not even on a user page. They're a big drain on the wiki — and, as they grow, they could actually take a bite out of the Wikia network, particularly if multiple people tried to access them at once.

I'll keep an eye out for something more efficient. If I find anything, you'll be the first to know.
czechout<staff />    16:35: Thu 19 Jun 2014

I understand that the sacrifice was necessary, and I appreciate you keeping me informed. I was aware of the processing issues and had heard that the pages were being considered for deletion, but I chose not to contribute to the discussion as I did not consider keeping the pages to be a high priority. I've made a lot of contributions to this wiki, and naturally not all of my ideas are bound to turn out as well as I'd hope; nevertheless, I'm fairly certain that the good contributions I've made outweigh the bad. 00:57, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

We've got some good input, but barely anything from more than one admin. OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 22:56, October 8, 2015 (UTC)

Moved pages

Hi! Can you tell me why you had to move the pages Beyond Osterling's Legacy, Carrie O'Grady and Vandermeer (Kronos Vad's History of Earth Vol. 36,379)? I think I know why, but I want to be sure before I message the users who created those pages. Thanks! Shambala108 00:25, October 21, 2015 (UTC)

As you've probably guessed, it was to fix the apostrophe on all three of them, from Word to basic text. Doug86 01:53, October 21, 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, that's what I thought. Anyway, thanks! Shambala108 03:42, October 21, 2015 (UTC)

Dalek and Clara moves

Thanks much for the moves for The Return of the Daleks (comic story) and Clara and the TARDIS (home video). Is it OK to remove the speedy rename templates now? I just wanted to check before doing so, in case there are any other housekeeping things that need to be done. Cheers! ----Ebyabe (talk) 06:00, November 1, 2015 (UTC)

Hello, can you please give me an explanation on why you erased the page Wiping?

Allonsy potter 19:27, February 12, 2016 (UTC)

It was not properly formatted, and besides it was unnecessary as the topic is already covered on the missing episode page. Doug86 19:29, February 12, 2016 (UTC)

Delphon

Why is it you undid my edits? I see no reason for not having one page for the species and one for the planet. We don't merge any other species with their homeplanet, what makes this different? The Champion of Time TALK 05:03, March 6, 2016 (UTC)

The problem was that you copy-pasted the current Delphon page instead of renaming it; that's not how things are done on wiki pages. Doug86 06:25, March 6, 2016 (UTC)
Is there any way to rename a page into two differen to articles? The Champion of Time TALK 12:57, March 6, 2016 (UTC)

Hey, as one of the editors who contributed the most for the The Forgotten (comic story) page, I believe your input at this thread would be very useful. Thanks. OncomingStorm12th 01:57, October 3, 2016 (UTC)

Hello pal

I'm sure your reasons were good ones, but what were they for undoing my revision on the special features page. DENCH-and-PALMER 18:52, October 24, 2016 (UTC)

You made the changes this way [[An Unearthly Child|''An Unearthly Child'']]

when it should be done this way ''[[An Unearthly Child]]''

Please make changes the right way from now on. Doug86 19:01, October 24, 2016 (UTC)

I just linked them on visual editor? Is that not correct? Best wishes. :D DENCH-and-PALMER 19:11, October 24, 2016 (UTC)
I think you've been here long enough that it's time to get used to source editor. Editing that way means a lot of cleanup for admin: italics, as mentioned above, as well as infoboxes ending up all on one line. (Sorry, Doug, for putting this here, but the conversation wasn't followed up on their page.)

Cyberwoman

Hey, as you're one of the admins online right now, I though of warning that the page Cyberwoman (TV story) looks very weird right now. It might be a coding bug somewhere, but from half of the plot, that page simply displays senseless stuff. OncomingStorm12th 20:04, October 24, 2016 (UTC)

Looks fine to me. Doug86 20:05, October 24, 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, I reloaded the page after a while, and it now looks normal to me as well. Anyway, thanks for looking into it. OncomingStorm12th 20:27, October 24, 2016 (UTC)

Change your favourite wikis list

Hi Doug86, you might want to remove the Paul Magrs Wikia from your list of favourite wikis as it basically insults you and all the work you've done at tardis on its front page. CoT ? 01:27, November 16, 2016 (UTC)

Hi. This is the person who made the Paul Magrs wiki. I'm just stopping by (some of) the talk pages TheChampionOfTime has been making these comments on to clarify the concerns s/he has had: You may have noticed that the front page of that wiki refers to the editors of this wiki here as "fascist bastards." That's meant to be tongue in cheek, and not a serious criticism. You may also have noticed that a lot of story pages are shamelessly duplicated from pages on this wiki. That's not plagiarism; I used the Wikia import/export feature to preserve the edit history so that all the authors are properly cited, and the license (CC-BY-SA) is followed. I don't know if this is how one goes about it but, what are your thoughts on my nominating User:OncomingStorm12th. See link.

Hello pal

Hello my good sir.

Minor request... If you look at the speedy renames section, you'll see many pages that need dab terms adding, would you be able to change the names and leave the old ones as a redirect?

Pages such as The Web of Caves, Crime File - The Master (which needs changing from a fanon term) and The Pitch of Fear to name but a few.

It'll definitely keep the wiki tidy and in order, best wishes and a happy new year.

Why'd you delete that article? It's a new version, featuring Ian as a narrator. It's in the same vein as Ian Chesterton: An Introduction. --Pluto2 (talk) 02:56, January 14, 2017 (UTC)

We already have an article about it, and any changes made to the original version can be listed at the article. Doug86 04:10, January 14, 2017 (UTC)

Okay, sorry 'bout that. Any chance you could do that? Especially the NTA one, which has been sat with the wrong title for donkey's years, also the suggested new title was wrong. 5.2.105.85talk to me 11:19, February 24, 2017 (UTC)

Page renames

Hey, I'm just stopping by to thank you for renaming so many pages over the last few weeks. Some of them had been sitting in my list of requested renames on my user page for several months, and it's been really satisfying to finally remove them. Hope you're well! – N8 17:49, October 25, 2017 (UTC)

Genuine question

Do you have bona fide objections to renaming Torchwood One: Before the Fall (audio anthology) into Before the Fall (audio anthology)? Or were you just making sure things correspond to the current state of affairs? By T:SPOIL, I can't yet discuss why the rename makes sense, but I will be able to in about two weeks' time. Amorkuz 00:25, January 11, 2018 (UTC)

No objections, just making sure. Doug86 04:41, January 11, 2018 (UTC)
Glad to hear it. At any rate, I've put the rename template in the meantime, so anyone who does oppose it can voice their opinion. Amorkuz 17:31, January 14, 2018 (UTC)

Infobox Audio Series

Just to let you know that it's a new infobox intended to provide the functionality specifically needed for audio series. Previously, {{Infobox Story}} or {{Infobox Merchandise}} were alternatively used and none of them is really fine tuned to represent a series the way {{Infobox Series}} does for television series. I keep minding to right up the documentation for this new infobox. At the same time, I would be grateful for any suggestions of new features and/or improvements. Amorkuz 14:58, February 14, 2018 (UTC)

Recursion

Aww, c'mon. I added the "You may Recursion" to replace the far hokier-looking "For more information on the concept of Recursion, please see here." It's just a classic harmless joke! But I get why you removed it. – N8 01:09, March 6, 2018 (UTC)

Renaming articles

Hi, I noticed you renamed the Bootstrap paradox page fairly quickly after I put the request up, so could I request that you also move Castellan (Arc of Infinity) to Jerricho? Only because I don't think that page should be named like that when the character has an actual name. Thanks in advance. Ben Moore512 20:50, May 2, 2018 (UTC)

Page rename

Hey there, I noticed you just moved Jerricho, and I was wondering if you could do me a favor and rename The Little Book of Absoute Power? There's just a sneaky little typo there -- a missing "L" in "Absolute". All the links have already been moved, but I'm afraid that the redirect I created at the destination page has obscured the idea on T:SPEEDY. If you could just look it over and give it a move if you're willing, I'd really appreciate it! – N8 20:29, May 25, 2018 (UTC)

Well that was lightning quick. Thanks so much! – N8 20:31, May 25, 2018 (UTC)

Voyage to Venus/the New World

Hi. We've had a fair share of edit wars recently and, given admins haven't been that active recently, I have tried as much as I can to not start them/stop them happening (as in, tried not reverting other user's edits more than once/twice). Today, however, a disagreement started between an anonymous user, myself and User:Borisashton. I believe any more "undoings" will mean an edit war (if it hasn't already, in which case a apologize).

Anyway, the thing that's causing the distress is the way information is being displayed on the infobox for Voyage to Venus (audio story) and Voyage to the New World (audio story). Me and Borisashton believe that Jago and Litefoot should be put under the "companion" section of the infobox, while the IP user believes they should go under "main character". When you have the time, I'd apreciate if you, or another admin, could drop by on the talk page of either of these pages, and help clarify the best way of displaying the information, and/or when to use "main characters", and/or any other information the admin team deems necessary and helpfull.

Again, I'm always bummed when things get to a point like this, because I understand you also have pages you'd like to edit, but better to avoid the edit war before it escalates. Thanks. OncomingStorm12th 00:40, May 29, 2018 (UTC)

Deleted story name redirects

Hi, several of the other admin have noticed that you have been updating links to stories to include the dab term and deleting the redirects from the undabbed variants. Upon discussing it, three of us came to the opinion that, while links may or may not be dabbed, the preservation of the redirects was a condition under which the "all stories are dabbed" policy was agreed upon in Forum:Story names should be automatically disambiguated. Would you oppose restoring these redirects (except for those, of course, that conflict with other pages)? If so, could we please discuss it, for instance, here on your talk page, to come to a common consensus? Thanks in advance for your time and happy editing! Amorkuz 22:59, May 26, 2019 (UTC)

10,000 Dawns debate

Hiya. As I'm sure you may have seen, quite the heated debate has raged in the thread about the inclusion of 10,000 Dawns. What I'm basically asking for is an impartial admin to look over the debate and get this thing closed. The debate has examined all the relevant wiki rules concerning the original reason for the case being made against 10,000 Dawns as a crossover series, and all users bar one have decided it should be included. With the main butting heads of the debate involving two admins (myself and Amorkuz), I think it's fairer to get someone who hasn't been involved in the thread's debate to pass final judgement on the decision to include them and close the thread, or whether the debate still needs to continue. Thanks. --Revan\Talk 20:30, August 28, 2019 (UTC)

Documentary dab renames

Hi Doug86, I noticed you had moved several of the DVD documentary pages to include the dab term. I recently created and added a navbox to all these pages, and added the speedy rename tag to all the remaining pages which did not have the dab term and amended some the names as well.

I was hoping you move them for me; if I have been a bit overzealous in doing this, feel free to tell me. (I am a bit concerned some of my renames might be too long, specifically my inclusion of any subtitles each documentary might have). --Doc77can 13:02, July 20, 2020 (UTC)

Common oak

Hi Doug, could I ask why you deleted common oak? The common oak is one species of oak, of which there are around 600 in the real world. In the story the Doctor specifically refers to it as the "common oak", so I fail to see why we can't have a page for it, just as we have pages for breeds of dog such as poodles when all dogs are the same species. (whereas for oaks they're the same genus) Obviously we're looking for an in-universe view, but as far as I know there's no evidence that all oaks are the same species. Cheers, Danochy 23:57, August 20, 2020 (UTC)

It can be argued that there's also no in-story evidence of there being multiple species of oaks, either. Doug86 01:05, August 21, 2020 (UTC)
To clarify, are you saying that we would need a second species of oak mentioned for this page to be created? Since otherwise it fails T:NO RW and it's just saying that "oh yeah, that's just a common oak, like as if it was common mud"? Najawin 01:15, August 21, 2020 (UTC)

Who Killed Kennedy epilogue

Hi there, I just wanted to ask you about your creation of Who Killed Kennedy epilogue (short story). I kinda assumed that this version was unlicenced as it was published to a fan site with apparently no involvement from the BBC. By this line of reasoning, the page should be deleted for failing rule 2.

If the page is to remain, it should probably be renamed "Who Killed Kennedy: 20th Anniversary Edition (novel)" or something similar as there is also a new introduction and the new material is explicitly intended to be read in tandem with the original book. Thanks in advance, --Borisashton 21:43, August 22, 2020 (UTC)

The Monthly - March 26

Hey again! Last month we announced that Fandom is doing a monthly admin get together called The Monthly to keep you up to date with the latest Fandom news. The next session will be next week, Friday, March 26.

Last month, you should have received an email about it, with the option to either opt-in or opt-out of receiving invites. If you haven't already, please do dig up the first email and select one of the following options:

  • opt-in will put you on the monthly mailing list, ensuring that you'll get an invite each time. Next week's invite has been sent out!
  • opt-out will take you off the mailing list.

It is known that the links will appear broken when you click on them, but your chosen preference will still be registered.

If you want to let me know which option you chose, that would be great as if you decided to opt out then I will stop messaging you about it. Many thanks! :) --Spongebob456 talk <staff/> 14:25, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

Adding Summaries to Ninth Doctor Audio Adventures

Hi Doug86, I'm currently listening to the "Ninth Doctor Audio Adventures" and they're just so poorly written, I have to pause every 5 minutes and get some fresh air because they're an absolute chore to do plot summaries for. I'm going to try to get through "Sphere of Freedom" since I'm 60% finished the plot summary but I don't think I can continue, I'm really sorry. I just wanted to confirm with you that I am at least allowed to post the plot summaries right, I won't be violating any spoiler policies? Feel free to use my sandbox for any pages you need to create or anything you think you may have missed relating to this audio. Good luck finishing the rest of this drek, you certainly have more patience than I do! All the best, DoctorQuoi 22:35, 13 May 2021 (UTC)DoctorQuoi

GoldenEye 007

Hey, just a heads' up, whether GoldenEye 007 should be deleted was the subject of an ongoing forum thread when the UCP happened. It was by no means concluded, and indeed I don't think what consensus there was was in favour of deletion. The page should remain as per T:BOUND. I know it's untidy to have this proposed delusion in the category which cannot be squared away in the foreseeable future, but… it is what it is. Scrooge MacDuck 23:13, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Torchwood

Hi! Just wanted to clarify at greater length than my edit summary that th rename of Torchwood (TV series) to Torchwood (series), which was suggested by User:NateBumber, is precisely to emphasise the fact that the series isn't (just) a TV series. Its latest few seasons, officially numbered as the direct and official continuations of the TV seasons, have been Big Finish Productions audio stories. Accordingly, it is in breach of T:NPOV (albeit minor) to use "(TV series)" in the the page's title. Scrooge MacDuck 22:14, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Oh, OK, thanks for clarifying that. Doug86 22:49, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

FandomDesktop migration

Hey there! We are due to migrate this wiki very soon to FandomDesktop and I need to help get a light theme ready. Apologies for the short notice of this, there were some unforeseen circumstances.

It would be great to work with the entire admin team to get the wiki ready for FandomDesktop. Have you been using the new skin? I'm going to start some preparation tomorrow and it would be great to work with the admin team on this. We may need to:

  • Adjust the theme on light theme
  • Adjust templates
  • Adjust CSS/JS
  • and more potentially.

If you have any suggestions for how we can collaborate, please let me know. I wondered if a forum thread on Forum:Index might work? Please let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to hearing from you! --Spongebob456 talk <staff/> 18:46, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

Hey there! Can I confirm you received an email re Community Connect please? May be in spam and it's to the email associated with your Fandom account. Is this something you would be interested in attending? Thanks! --Spongebob456 talk <staff/> 10:28, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

Invalid vs real world templates

Hi, if you read Template:Invalid/doc you'll see it says that, if Template:Invalid is placed on a page, then Template:Real world should not be placed on said page. Is there any reason you've adding both to various pages recently, and then reverting my edit (without communication) when I tried to tell you this? Danochy 06:21, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

So sorry, just seen the relevant talk page. Still, it would have been better to communicate the fact in your edit summary. Danochy 06:24, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

Fandom projects

Hi! Got a couple of things:

As this wiki used to use Special:Forum, Fandom wants to make sure that old forum links and references aren't cluttering up maintenance special pages (unusedfiles, needed pages etc). Would you mind checking and letting me know asap as to whether that's an issue for this wiki? Just looking for dead links to forums in special pages, or links to images used in forums but are now dead, stuff like that. No need to attempt to cleanup yourself, I just need to know if they exist.

Secondly, did you receive an email sent last week I believe inviting you to The Downstream on September 10th? The email is titled "[The Downstream] Ask Fandom Anything, Social Media Tips, and Data Insights". I just want to confirm you received the email as we know Fandom outreach emails often land in spam.

If you could let me know about both of those things, that would be fantastic. Thanks! --Spongebob456 talk <staff/> 09:44, 27 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi there, just a reminder that The Downstream is Friday, September 10 at 11am EST at https://www.twitch.tv/Fandom. You can register/RSVP and add the event to your calendar here. That page also gives a lot of detail on what the event offers. Any questions, please let me know! --Spongebob456 talk <staff/> 12:10, 8 September 2021 (UTC)

Checking in

Hi there! Sorry it has been a little while since I last checked in, I have been out of action for the last two weeks unfortunately. How are things going? One thing I did notice was that the navigation in dark theme, the Explore tab in white is hard to read. Have you guys noticed that? Figured if we do what we did before and if we continue a single thread on my talk page, it might be easier for us to keep track. Hope that's ok! :) --Spongebob456 talk <staff/> 09:01, 4 October 2021 (UTC)

Checking in

Hi again! Just checking in to see how things are going. How're things on the wiki? All set for the premiere? :) --Spongebob456 talk <staff/> 10:52, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

Vandal

Hi. Hope you're okay. Noticed you were on earlier so though I would try you first. We have a vandal at User:Doctorscolostomybag. I've been chasing them round the Wiki reverting their edits. Look through their contribution history and you'll see what I mean. They might already have been blocked by the time you get this but just letting you know. Thanks. 66 Seconds 21:09, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

Input requested

Your input at Tardis talk:Temporary forums would be appreciated. A misguided attempt by User:Bongolium500 to remedy the situation with the Forums has brought into sharp relief the fact that we, the admin team, need to get together and work out a consensus on how to proceed, because the status quo is increasingly untenable. Deleted Page

Hiya!

I see that you deleted a page that I made, which is absolutely fine - I understand that it didn't belong where it was. Someone else had taken the time to explain that to me (Some people are very good!), and I was just about to move it to my Sandbox. However, now that you've deleted it, I can't seem to see the content I had already inputted. This is unfortunate, as I had obviously put some time into it. I was wondering therefore if you knew how I could access the log in order to recover that work. Clicking into the deleted page is giving me nothing, and I'm feeling quite disappointed by the whole process.

Áine Marfach 22:28, 28 February 2022 (UTC)

You can access the deleted page by going to the Deletion Log and clicking "view/restore" on the page. Doug86 22:25, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

Fandom updates

Hey there! I posted some Fandom updates here, which includes details on an upcoming MediaWiki upgrade to the platform. If you have any questions/feedback/comments on it, please do message on my talk page! As normal, if you wanted to continue a thread left by another admin too that'd be great to keep things in one place. Thanks! :) --Spongebob456 talk <staff/> 21:51, 3 March 2022 (UTC)

Page for deletion

Hi there. Alfredoistic needs deletion - I'd add the Deletion template but it tends to just cause edit wars with the recent spate of vandals. Jack "BtR" Saxon 20:46, 18 March 2022 (UTC)

A user called User:Crypto NWO has vandalised a few pages and moved others. Jack "BtR" Saxon 22:54, 21 March 2022 (UTC)

Wiki Rules and Blocking Policy

Hey!

Recently, Fandom staff posted updates to the Fandom Wiki Rules and Blocking Policy. As a reminder, this is a global policy to aid the wellbeing of communities that all wikis have been following since 2021. These new changes go into effect on April 4th.

I'll let you read through those changes and if you have any questions, please let me know on my talk page! :) --Spongebob456 talk <staff/> 15:24, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

Maps

Hey! Made a post about the new Interactive Maps feature - does Tardis have any maps suitable for that? --Spongebob456 talk <staff/> 12:14, 24 April 2022 (UTC)

K9 and Company

Thank you for catching those redirects and relinking them. I completely missed them, given how many pages appeared in Special:WhatLinksHere.

Discussions AbuseFilter

Hey! A new feature is available on Discussions - Discussions AbuseFilter (DAF). This is designed to be a tool to help moderation on Discussions, if certain behaviours are being disruptive and making manual moderation difficult:

Not compulsory for anyone to use it etc, just letting you know it's here. As a note about forums, I have asked Czech about it and I know he is aware it's still needed. If I can help with anything though, please give me a shout on here or Discord! --Spongebob456 talk <staff/> 20:35, 17 October 2022 (UTC)

Forum:Index

Hi Doug,

I'm just wondering if you'd weigh in at Forum talk:Index, where over a dozen and a half editors have come together to support the idea of new forums to replace Board:Panopticon, which has been missing for over two years now. The emerging consensus is that Forum:Index should be reopened as soon as possible, without waiting for the restoration of the lost Panopticon archives.

We have the support of two admins, Scrooge MacDuck and OncomingStorm12th, but we need a few more in order to convince our Wiki Representative. Would you be willing to lend your support on Forum talk:Index?

Hope you've been well! – n8 () 21:04, 8 November 2022 (UTC)

December 27-30

Those are some of the last days til new years eve. Therefore, wouldn't mentioning new year's eve preparations there fit?

Temporary Forums Are Live!

Hello!

Just wanted to notify you that, User:CzechOut's final deadline of "by New Year's Day" having passed, and following in-depth discussion between myself and fellow admins User:SOTO, User:OncomingStorm12th and User:Bongolium500, we have decided to activate Tardis:Temporary forums, come what may. A sitenotice has been set to inform the community of this development, and I am taking it upon myself to personally update our Administrators on the situation, as well as yourself.

As the name implies, we hope the Temporary Forums will remain — well — temporary. Any work on reactivating proper DPL Forums will still be welcome and appreciated; this system is a further fine-tuning of the setup Bongolium500 had proposed in December 2021, which it means is designed from the ground up to be easy to transfer into the actual DPL Forums if we should get those back in the near future after all.

But it has been multiple years since the Wiki has had a venue for changing policy and forming community consensus on important matters. Bongolium500 and SOTO put forward the first draft of the Temporary Forums a full year ago — and were convinced to retract it by a promise that the real Forums would come ‘very soon’; and here we are. I don't think anyone's at fault; I do think everyone has the Wiki's best interests at heart. But the time has come to realise that the overly-optimistic strategy of endlessly putting off an imperfect temporary solution in pursuit of a perfect one "soon" has failed, resoundingly. It is time for a different approach. The Tardis community are owed a different approach. If you have active DPL Forums to give us, we will take them gladly. But we cannot sacrifice one more promising alternative to a nebulous future possibility which has already proven more difficult to achieve that you'd expected several times over. It is our hope that you can understand respect our decision in this matter.

We four elementals behind the Temporary Forums would like to reassure the rest of the admin team that this necessary step is not intended to create more work for them unbidden. Four are, if it comes to that, plenty enough to keep the peace a Forum with no more than six threads running at a time; we would be thrilled to see the rest of the team embracing the Temporary Forums, but please don't feel any obligation to do so.

Happy New Year, happy editing — and happy contribution to the New Forums!

LOAs

Hey, saw you reverted it back again — author names (and so on) in the new sortable lists of appearances should always be linked, because depending on when you sort, any one row could wind up being the first mention of that name, and we can't expect readers to hunt all the way down the table to find a linking version, especially on the bigger ones. Sorry if there was any confusion about this. Scrooge MacDuck 20:10, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

Oh, okay, sorry about that. Doug86

SJM-123

Hi, there. User:SJM-123, who has had a number of their edits reverted by myself and other editors, has now been vandalising Ood Sigma. Jack "BtR" Saxon 20:28, 7 March 2023 (UTC)

Bubbles32

Hello. I know you didn't act on my previous message, but as you're the admin who's most recently made an edit I thought I'd point you towards User:Bubbles32's vandalism of 2023 specials. Jack "BtR" Saxon 20:58, 9 May 2023 (UTC)

Heads up about the thanks extension

Hi. I just wanted to give you a heads up that Tardis is testing the "thanks" extension which Fandom will be rolling out to all wikis soon. This extension allows editors to thank other editors for their edits. The editor being thanked will then recieve a notification. Therefore, while you're actively performing edits, you may receieve a few more notifications than normal. If you notice any bugs, pass them onto User:Spongebob456. Bongo50 19:56, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

Admin+

Hey there! I’m reaching out to introduce the Admin+ program (if you haven’t heard about it already!) & let you know I’m here if you have any questions about it. Take a look at the details here & feel free to send over any questions you have. pikushi ✧.* <staff /> 20:25, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

Seeking clarification

Hello! Hope you're well. I did message User:Bongolium500 5 days ago but have not heard a reply since. I noticed you have been online so am also seeking your help, if you can clarify a few things for me:

1) Regarding unsigned comments on talk pages, my understanding is that, if we see a message unsigned, then it is courteous to go in and use the "unsigned" template to help editors see who left the message that was unsigned. However, if said editor who left the unsigned comment then returns, removes the "unsigned" template and inserts the four ~ symbols in to the sign the comment, which one should be kept? The "unsigned" template or the belated ~ signature? (For case in point, see here: https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Talk:Donna_Noble?type=revision&diff=3687795&oldid=3687704 )

2) Concerning the shortening of the Doctor articles, is it a wise move for me to do it on a sandbox first and seek admin approval that how I have shortened it is correct or am I better gradually chipping away at the page over a series of edits on the article, similar to how I have been doing the CS link conversions? Furthermore, the "Bio" subpage is simply a straight "copy-paste" of the article as it currently is, then allowing the main page to be shortened down from there? Further to this, I am having trouble editing the Tenth Doctor article, which performs really really slowly when editing it and (for unknown reasons) it does not let me edit a single section (which usually makes editing these long articles less cumbersome). Any ideas?

3) Discussion over The Giggle (TV story)'s infobox image appears to have stalled/reached a conclusion. I say this given no users, bar myself have really touched it since it was realised #5 should be the article's primary image. Does it need to remain open? Can the selected image be implemented now? The Fourteenth Doctor article's discussion is also stagnating.

I look forward to your reply! Snivy The coolest Pokemon ever 22:22, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello again. Letting you know Bongo has now got back to me. Apologies for the inconvenience. Snivy The coolest Pokemon ever 21:36, 12 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello, there is mixed reactions about the existance of Nuwho and we need an admin oppinion. The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Kevin Sweet (talk • contribs) .

JS Wiki Browser

JS Wiki Browser (which is what I assume you meant by "JS Wiki" in your forum post) has been fixed. Bongo50 21:14, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

Thank you, that is what I meant, although I already knew that it was fixed. Doug86 06:38, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

Rename image file

Hi, is there a way to change the name of an image file, without starting from scratch?
