Thomas Rodden was the deckhand for Terra Nova, a ship that Robert Scott was sailing to Antarctica. He showed the Sixth Doctor and Melanie Bush from the harbour. Patricia McBride offered him £200 to not get on the ship and go home. In 1911, he was a chauffeur in Newcastle and met Martha Curtis, who, he later married.
