Robert Scott
Captain Robert Scott was an explorer who died in the Antarctic.
Scott travelled from Cardiff to the Antarctic in 1910. He took two years to get there and died shortly after. A statue was erected in his honour. (TV: To the Last Man [+]Loading...["To the Last Man (TV story)"])
After seeing a copy of The Manchester Guardian from 6 November 1912, a week in their personal future, Daniel and Nan commented that there was still no word of Captain Scott's fate. They correctly assumed that he died in the Antarctic.

Though Scott's first name was not given by To the Last Man, the scene doesn't parse correctly unless it's assumed to be Captain Robert Scott, the famous real world Antarctic explorer.
