  • Facing the Dalek Time Controller, the Doctor quips that Thomas Appleton was wrong: "he should have said 'when good Daleks die, they go to Paris.'"

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • In the behind-the-scenes documentary, Matt Fitton cites the film Moulin Rouge! as inspiration for the story, a film which similarly follows a young artist struggling in Montmartre in the early 20th century.
  • The Dalek fires its laser weapon in the corridor of pipes, fire rushing in front of it. The Doctor stands at the bottom of a set of stairs, a decorated chandelier above him. Caption reads, "Thomas Appleton was wrong. He should have said 'When good Daleks die, they go to Paris.'"
CD Booklet interior illustration of a rusted Dalek amidst factory pipes on the left and the Doctor in the Red Pagoda on the right.
This is the first Dark Eyes story to feature the Daleks since Eyes of the Master and the first to feature them as the main enemy since The Traitor.
