The First Gentleman was a character in William Shakespeare's play Pericles.

In Scene V, he emerged from a house of ill-repute in Mytilene with another gentleman, asking his associate if he had ever heard the like. He replied he had not but said he was now disinterested in bawdy-houses and suggested that they go and hear the vestals sing. The First Gentleman agreed to this, saying he would "do any thing now that is virtuous". (PROSE: Pericles [+]Loading...["Pericles (short story)"])
