Time Lord (Exits and Entrances)
A Time Lord in their "seventh age" and a "wand'rer in the fourth dimension" was a character in an early draft of William Shakespeare's play As You Like It.
They proclaimed that the cosmos was a stage and all from "thou to Fenric" were merely players. They said all had their exits and entrances but that Time Lords were "required" to play the greater part. They described their first five ages as "the ancient", "the stovepiped clown in pixie boots", "the gent", "the scarf" and "the youth". The Time Lord branded his sixth age as "a man who shout[ed] upon the mountain top" and who "[threw] quotes at slugs and [wrung] the neck of friends". They also mentioned the planet Vulcan.
The inclusion of the Time Lord, clearly based upon the Seventh Doctor, was the reason for the inclusion of the As You Like It draft in the Shakespeare Notebooks. The Time Lord did not appear in the final draft of the play and The Shakespeare Notebooks noted that the speech was "probably revised" as many of the allusions seemed rather obscure.
