Cyberman (Silver Lining)

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

A Cyberman was one of numerous Cybermen located within a Cyber-base on Tysir IV during the 27th century.

Characteristics[[edit] | [edit source]]

In terms of physical characteristics, the Cyberman's Cyber-body resembled a fusion between the Cyber-bodies of two Cyber-subspecies: (AUDIO: Silver Lining) its Cyber-helmet, which featured an orange light in the hole at its top, resembled those of the standard Cybermen of the "Early" CyberFaction, (TV: The Invasion et al.) while the rest of its body sported tubing similar in layout to that on the Cyber-bodies of CyberNomads. (TV: Revenge of the Cybermen et al.)

The Cyberman spoke in a low-pitched monotone voice. Although, like most Cybermen, it was programmed to be emotionless, the Cyberman appeared to experience a degree of pain when it partially forced open the doors to the Cyber-base that it was located in. (AUDIO: Silver Lining)

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Cybermen's plan[[edit] | [edit source]]

Professor Bernice Summerfield speculated that the Cybermen located within the Cyber-base on Tysir IV in the 27th century had established themselves on the planet through the use of time travel, as the Cybermen were widely believed to be extinct by that time.

Sometime during the same century, when the robot diggers used by the human mining corporation on Tysir IV began uncovering artificial materials near the Cyber-base, Lynton Jellis successfully hacked into the base's computer and discovered the Cyber-Plague. He began preparing a trap to trick Bernice Summerfield into opening and entering the Cyber-base so that he could steal the Cyber-Plague for the United Poland Independence Party to use, but the Cybermen within the Cyber-base secretly intended for Lynton to steal the Cyber-Plague, as he did not know that it was on its vial, rather than in it, and as a result, the Plague would kill Lynton on contact within minutes. The Cybermen intended for Lynton's body to be discovered by any humans who would search for him, thereby allowing the Cyber-Plague to spread to them too, commencing a chain reaction that would kill thousands of humans across the Earth Empire. The Cybermen planned to convert any humans who would travel to the Cyber-base on Tysir IV in search of a cure to the Cyber-Plague, before leaving themselves to convert the rest of the surviving humans and take control of the remains of the Earth Empire once the Cyber-Plague would expire after one year.

Awakening[[edit] | [edit source]]

Eventually, when Lynton successfully tricked Bernice Summerfield into opening the Cyber-base, the Cyberman awoke in response to Lynton triggering the Cyber-base's alarm when he stole the Cyber-Plague. Although the Cyberman quickly restrained Bernice to prepare her for cyber-conversion, it released her when she told it that Lynton had escaped with the Cyber-Plague and sealed the hatch to the single-designed exit out of the Cyber-base. Initially, the Cyberman was unfazed by this development, as it claimed that the base would eventually be re-opened by any humans seeking a cure to the Cyber-Plague, but when Bernice revealed that several explosives placed outside the Cyber-base by Lynton would explode in less than fourteen minutes, the Cyberman was forced to ally with Bernice to disarm the explosives before they could destroy the Cyber-base.

Death[[edit] | [edit source]]

Bernice and the Cyberman began their escape by locating a ventilation shaft, after Bernice realised that the air in the Cyber-base was particularly fresh for an underground base. Upon finding a suitable ventilation shaft, Bernice climbed on top of the Cyberman and eventually opened the shaft, allowing the duo to climb a ladder through the shaft and return to the entrance of the Cyber-base. The Cyberman then located Lynton, who had been killed by the Cyber-Plague, and revealed the Cybermen's plan to Bernice. Afterwards, the duo attempted to open the doors out of the Cyber-base; despite the fact that the doors could only be opened fully via a pair of computer terminals outside the base's entrance, the Cyberman was able to force the doors to open enough for Bernice to exit and reach the door controls outside. The Cyberman then prepared to instruct Bernice on how to fully open the doors so that it could also escape, only for Bernice to instead shoot the controls three times with an energy gun that she had retrieved from Lynton's corpse. This destroyed the controls and forced the Cyber-base's doors to fully close, trapping the Cyberman within the base. The Cyberman, as well as its fellow Cybermen and the Cyber-base, was destroyed shortly after by Lynton's explosives. (AUDIO: Silver Lining)
