The Restoration Empire (short story)
The Restoration Empire was the first of five Time Lord Victorious short stories released by Eaglemoss Collections. It was printed in DWFC TLV 1 through to DWFC TLV 3. It was written by James Goss and provided an in-universe history of the beginnings of the eponymous Restoration Empire which featured so prominently in the main Time Lord Victorious series.
This short story is told from the point of view of the Dalek Emperor. All other mentioned characters are not main characters but are spoken of through the Emperor's story.

Reeling from the fallout of their civil war, the Daleks are left without any leader, with Davros having fled. Thus, one member of the Supreme Council exterminates all other members and appoints itself the new Dalek Emperor, swearing to unite the Dalek race with a traditional approach by creating the Restoration Empire.
The Emperor Dalek wishes for a personal set of battle armour referencing the old times, when Daleks won every battle, and augments his brain capacity as well as giving himself a gold casing that called back to an earlier age. With Skaro destroyed, the Emperor simply manages to rebuild it, without Thals as a distraction. Every Dalek is to have the same goal of universal domination and to make this a reality, the Emperor gives each Dalek a rank to denote their their functionality.
The Emperor approaches his position by laying out simple policies: firstly, the restoration of a stable Dalek civilisation. Secondly, the expansion of the Dalek Empire - conquering the weak and exterminating anyone who dares to oppose them. Third and finally, the Emperor intends to lead the Daleks into a war against the Time Lords and wipe them out from history forever.
The Emperor finds a Dalek that had survived for an incredibly long time and labels him the Dalek Strategist. Since the Emperor rarely thinks up his own schemes, the Strategist is to provide him counsel. The battered appearance of the Strategist makes other Daleks bitter due to its naturally close relationship with the Emperor. However, it was evident to the Emperor that the survival of the Dalek race was due to the Dalek Strategist's ability to forecast events.
However, neither the Emperor nor the Strategist foresaw what the Scientists have discovered - some event that had been changed in the past has created ripples throughout the universe and was threatening the Restoration Empire. Wanting immediate answers, the Emperor had orders the invasion of the Archive of Islos, which itself leads to the Archivians of Islos unleashing a deadly entity from another dimension.
Forever sensible, the Emperor forges an alliance with the Mechonoids in the hope of defeating this Entity. Surprisingly, they discover the Entity not to be new, but ancient - The Slave of the Hond. The Hond were a once-terrible race that had been driven into extinction during the Dark Times. Yet here they were, rampaging around the universe once more.
The Daleks are quick to formulate a plan to vanquish the Hond by capturing their old enemy, the Doctor, who defeats it for them before leaving. The scientists soon discover that the Hond and the time ripples themselves had derived from the Dark Times, and since the Doctor already knew too much, the Daleks decide to seek out an earlier incarnation, who they force to take the newly created Time Squad into the Dark Times to either correct time or cause maximum disruption to time for the Daleks' benefit.
Already having received an ancient message from the Dark Times, the Emperor is aware that this Time Squad would be destroyed. He was not concerned, though, as he knew his Daleks would not fail in death. The Emperor is pleased that, despite interference from the Time Lords, his army is strengthening, and he knows that one day, he would be ready to challenge Gallifrey itself.

Restoration Empire[[edit] | [edit source]]
- The Restoration Empire focuses on Dalek conquest and strength.
- Special Weapons Daleks are remodeled into Dalek Executioners.
- Sensing something wrong with the universe, the empire invades the Archive of Islos.
- Studying the work of Dalek Scientists, the Dalek Prime Strategist finds evidence that suggests that the Restoration Empire itself might be the result of the temporal anomalies.

- Only one Dalek from the Dalek Time Squad survives the mission to the Dark Times, falling through the Time Vortex and becoming embedded in an asteroid, where it spends millennia rebuilding itself. It eventually finds itself aboard the Starship Future.

- After Davros fled, a member of the Supreme Council exterminates the other members of the council and appoints itself the new Dalek Emperor.
- The new Emperor augments its brain capacity and builds a gold casing reminiscent of the old Dalek Empire, from a time where the Daleks did not fight among themselves.

- The story was divided into two sections: Dalek Drones of the Restoration Empire and Emperor of the Restoration, which were divided by eight pages of features.
- This story rejoins PROSE: Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe, but conflicts with Restoration of the Daleks, in depicting the non-Davros Dalek Emperor who took over a unified Dalek Empire following the Imperial-Renegade Dalek Civil War, as having been a new Emperor who took over the Imperial Dalek faction following Davros's disappearance — as opposed to the first Dalek and leader of the Renegade Dalek side of the War. As such, The Restoration Empire ironically implies that its Dalek Emperor is not the same individual as the Golden Emperor of the 1960s, despite the Restoration of the Daleks interpretation of the Emperor in TV: The Parting of the Ways making it clear that he is the same individual as the Dalek Emperor first seen in COMIC: Invasion of the Daleks.
