"Scientist Dalek", or "Dalek Scientist", was a specialised caste in the hierarchy of the Dalek Empire. Its role was to examine and formulate new weapons as well as to analyse the genetic and physiological make-up of the Daleks' enemies so that their weaknesses could be isolated.

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

Duel of the Daleks[[edit] | [edit source]]

Zeg was a Dalek Scientist who conducted experiments to strengthen dalekanium, the alloy which composed the Dalek casings. When his laboratory was struck by an Oquolloquox, the experiment he was conducting with artificial sunlight exploded and exposed him to radiation that bonded with his casing; creating a much stronger metal he called Metalert, but also drove him insane. Dalek Scientists were among many who tried and failed to destroy him with their gunsticks. He challenged the Dalek Emperor for supremacy. Although Zeg survived acid and mercury, the Emperor destroyed him with liquid oxygen. Since he was resistant to heat, the extreme cold of the oxygen crushed him. (COMIC: Duel of the Daleks [+])

Emperor's Secret[[edit] | [edit source]]

After his "perfection" was called into question, a group of Dalek Scientists, headed by the Chief Scientist, were tasked by the Dalek Emperor with taking him apart and rebuilding him with an increased brain capacity. After identifying the minor flaws in the Emperor's casing, the Scientists decided to rebuilt it completely, creating a much larger casing in Skaro's Great Hall with an enlarged, artificial organic brain to supplement the mutant, rather than a mere computer brain. The Chief Scientist, wearing a "special protective Dalekoat", was the one to finish plugging some cables connecting the casing to the wall. (COMIC: The Secret of the Emperor)

Earlier Encounters[[edit] | [edit source]]

The New Dalek Paradigm[[edit] | [edit source]]

The New Dalek Paradigm's original Scientist, along with the other original four Paradigm Daleks (the white Supreme, yellow Eternal, blue Strategist, and red Drone), were created when the three survivors of an encounter with the Doctor tricked the Eleventh Doctor into allowing them to activate the Progenitor device. It escaped through a time corridor with the others and went on to help rebuild the Daleks. (TV: Victory of the Daleks)

One Scientist Dalek, designated Unit Three, was captured and taken aboard Station 7. Several Scientist Daleks were part of the platoon led by Chief Strategist that attacked Station 7, with several other Strategists and Drones under its leadership. From the command ship, some Scientist Daleks transmitted control signals calling all Robomen and Ogrons detained on the station to kill all humans, while others fed static electricity to the station's floors allowing captured Dalek technology to reactivate so they could salvage their equipment for analysis and repair. (COMIC: The Only Good Dalek)

A Scientist Dalek sent an alien family plummeting through time and space while attempting to collect all the time orbs. The Scientist recruited many Strategist Daleks and Drones.
