Mother Finsey, also known as the Mother, was a companion of the Master.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

Travels with the Master[[edit] | [edit source]]

Mother Finsey came from Benreve. When she began travelling with the Master as his companion, Benreve was the first of many planets that they burnt together, and she was inspired by how he killed her people's leaders. They then went to Phenpol where they hijacked a rocket launch to attack their polar icecap, exposing a vein of Ventium-4 which they used to fuel a fleet of warships. After selling the fleet to the Parliament of Boon, Mother Finsey and the Master controlled the fleet remotely and threatened to destroy their capital city unless they handed over control of their southern hemisphere.

Eventually, the Master tried to kill her, having tired of her company. She survived and continued to idolise the Master, even musing that she would have lost respect for him had he not tried to eliminate her, but was left blind by the attempt. She began using specially-designed lenses which allowed her to see in infrared, although she did learn how to cope without them. (AUDIO: The Transcendence of Ephros)

The Transcendence[[edit] | [edit source]]

By appealing to fear and greed, Mother Finsey set up a number of religions through which she could make a profit and gain control, manipulating the converts into giving her all of their worldly possessions. The gods that she invented included Paratrice and Holy Thor. Once she was done, she arranged her followers' deaths in a "religious event".

On Ephros, Mother Finsey planted Throxian Lavaworms beneath the surface, accelerating the planet's natural temperature and bringing about an explosion which she called the Transcendence, planning on using the event to profit from her shares in Galactux Power Inc. Shortly before the explosion was to occur, she met the Third Doctor and Jo Grant.

As Mother Finsey attempted to escape in a mining cruiser, she was delayed when she had to reprogram the ship's hyperdrive, seemingly resulting in her death when the Doctor used a transmat to send the Lavaworms into space without having the chance to calibrate it to avoid any other form of life. Working with Ace[[edit] | [edit source]]

In the altered timeline created by the Seventh Doctor, Finsey ran an orphanage where she stripped the children of their ability to speak. Ace and the Master approached Finsey to help them save the universe, which she accepted in hopes of an opportunity to take revenge on the Master. Ace took her team to Gallifrey where they infiltrated a vault and found an entrance to the Dark Universe. (AUDIO: The Last Day [+]Loading...["The Last Day (audio story)","The Last Day"])
