"We Want Thunderbirds!" was a short story printed in TV Century 21 that contained elements from the Doctor Who universe. Framed as the front page of an in-universe periodical, the titular article made reference to the Thunderbirds content in the issue with another piece tying-in to the Fireball XL5 comic story The Syntex Mystery [+]Loading...["The Syntex Mystery (comic story)"], which was a crossover with the DWU.

- Madagascar reportedly "burst into life and colour" as its fifty thousand inhabitants started to celebrate the news that General N'Mobo was getting better after a desperate mercy flight across Africa had brought him life-saving drugs.
- As word spread that N'Mobo owed his life to International Rescue's machines, crowds swarmed into the capital city of Tananrive chanting "We want Thunderbirds" but they had already gone, in a cloak of security and secrecy which nobody can penetrate.
- Space City has been placed on orange standby and all spacecrafts have been ordered to track the approaching meteorites and be ready to take action if required.
