Brian Johncock, credited on later works as Brian Johnson, (born 29 June 1939[1]) was the director of the special effects second unit for most of the supermarionation television series Thunderbirds. This included the first series episode The Man from MI.5, which crossed over into the Doctor Who universe by featuring an appearance by the Daleks. He worked as a special effects assistant for the first episode Trapped in the Sky.

Johncock was also involved in several other creations of Gerry Anderson. He provided special effects for the television special The Day After Tomorrow and the film Doppelgänger. He also worked on the live-action series Space: 1999, where he was credited variably for special effects, as the special effects director and as the special effects designer.

Among Johncock's other contributions was his work on the Alien franchise. He won an Academy Award for his role as the special effects supervisor on Alien and received a BAFTA for working on the sequel Aliens as the visual effects supervisor. He also won a Saturn Award for providing visual effects on the Star Wars film The Empire Strikes Back and was nominated for a further Academy Award for performing the same job on the 1981 film Dragonslayer. Additionally, he worked on The NeverEnding Story and was the director for fifty-eight episodes of the television series Dream Street.
