The Centaur belt was, according to the Fifth Doctor "a range of celestial bodies with irregular orbits" which could be found in the outer Sol system.
As of 29 July 2978, the space station Proxima was moored in the Centaur belt. Everyone but Prof. Kalu and Christopher Jennings were evacuated before a test of their newly developed chronon bomb. (AUDIO: Interstitial)
