Simon was the son of Liz Shaw from an old relationship prior to her marriage, and the father of Liz's granddaughter Elizabeth Holub.
By 9 January 2021, Simon, young Elizabeth, and her mother were all living in Cambridge. After Elizabeth was kidnapped by the Sherwood Sorceress and promptly rescued by P.R.O.B.E., Giles and Liz drove Elizabeth back home to her parents, and Liz elected to stick around for a while to catch up with them while Giles returned to P.R.O.B.E.
