Great Siege
In the Unbound Universe, the Thal-Dalek battle was known as the Great Siege.
During the battle, the Daleks attempted to destroy all life on Skaro save themselves, being stopped by the Doctor leading the Thals to attack the Dalek City, knocking out the Daleks' source of power. The Doctor subsequently left Skaro and became a legend in Thal culture.
Though both the Doctor and the Thals initially thought the Siege to have been the end of the Daleks, the Doctor encountered more in space, a faction he would later learn were called The Renegades, while the second generation of Daleks that had been in space returned to reclaim Skaro shortly after the Siege. When the Doctor returned to Skaro, he convinced the Thals to accept his aid by citing his role in the Great Siege. (AUDIO: Masters of War)
