Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]

Winter Quay in New York, 20th century, Jacob is relieved he finished work before the rain so he can stop thinking about aliens, but just then the TARDIS lands in front of him with the Eighth Doctor exiting. Jacob asks who he is and what the blue object is, so the Doctor introduces himself. Asking again what the object is, to which the Doctor replies that it is a TARDIS.

The Doctor apologises as he wasn’t expecting anyone to see them land, to which Jacob retorts that he appeared out of thin air. Jacob asks if the object is some kind of a secret Kraut machine or if the Doctor is an alien. The Doctor then says that nothing is further from the truth, and he doesn’t belong to the Kaiser's men. Jacob then deduces that it's a time machine. The Doctor applauds him. Jacob says he’s been reading H. G. Wells's The Time Machine and the Doctor says he’s a nice but stuffy man, to Jacob’s surprise, then asks if he's seen anything strange.

Jacob tells him no, and introduces himself. The Doctor apologises for landing in his building but excuses that the ship caught wind of something. Jacob says it is not his building and asks why he keeps referring to the box as a ship. The Doctor introduces his time machine. Jacob is glad he took a break at this time, and the Doctor wonders why he is unfazed. Jacob says it’s just occupational hazard of being a writer for comic books. The Doctor then realizes he must have landed near the '40s New York, which he says makes sense as it is the dawn of the Golden Age of Comic Books.

The Doctor asks Jacob what he’s working on, and Jacob says he's working on a detective story where the protagonist follows the trail of a serial killer, and that for some reason there are statues of angels in each crime scene. The Doctor's senses immediately trigger, as Jacob says they are from the same collection and the Doctor finishes, saying they are covering their faces. Jacob asks him if he knows of his work from the future and asks for a copy of his work.

The Doctor reads the book, repeatedly uttering that something is bad, to Jacob's annoyance. He snaps the Doctor out of it and the Doctor apologises, saying he got invested in the story, but tells Jacob they have a real problem. The Docror asks Jacob if it's the only copy of the book. Jacob says that that copy is a proof and that they're being printed now and ship the next day, and that the printing will be 2000 copies.

The Doctor tells Jacob to listen carefully but is interrupted as the book rips itself open. Jacob asks what’s happening but the Doctor says it is too late. A stone hand coming out of it. Jacob asks what it is as it continues to rip until the entire Weeping Angel exits the pages of the book, the Doctor telling Jacob that which holds the image of an Angel becomes itself an Angel, saying he was inspired by an ancient evil.

The Doctor tells him not to blink and to never lose sight of the entity, explaining to Jacob that a Weeping Angel feeds on time and it will only catch them if they blink as it only moves when nobody is looking. Jacob asks if it really came out of his comic book, and the Doctor tells him it is an ability of theirs, and adds that they need to stop the printing of his comic book, with Jacob saying he will go to the basement and stop the presses in any way he can. The Doctor expresses regret at not being able to say "Stop the Presses".

The Doctor tells the Angel that if it thinks it can get to him, it is wrong, and his concentration won’t be disturbed, insulting the statue, but realises it probably isn't listening, reminding himself not to talk to quantum locked aliens and hopes that Jacob is successfully stopping the printing. He hears a large crash and feels the ground shaking. This distracts the Doctor, causing the Angel to move closer to him. The Doctor tells it he won’t be disturbed anymore.

Jacob returns, saying he stopped it by causing a small fire. The Doctor commends him and says he should leave, but Jacob warns him the building might collapse, but the Doctor tells him someone needs to watch the Angel. Jacob offers to do it, but the Doctor refuses by saying art is his gift and this is his. The Doctor hears thunder, and formulates a plan involving rain.

The Doctor asks Jacob to keep tabs on the Angel while he works out something. Jacob asks to clarify he just needs to stare at it, which the Doctor confirms, then gets onto creating an invisible funnel for the smoke with his sonic screwdriver to kickstart rain, while explaining it to Jacob, which causes the Angel to melt as it dissolves the ink.

the rain puts out the fire. Jacob asks if he can do any favour for the Doctor, to which the Doctor just asks him not to include the Angels next time. Jacob tells him about another idea in the science fiction genre he had involving a race who turned themselves into small tanks. The Doctor finishes his sentence mentioning disintegration rays and suction cups. When asked how he knew, he said a hunch.

Elsewhere on a deserted planet, the TARDIS lands and the Doctor steps out, telling himself and the TARDIS that they're on their own again and asks where they should go next.
