Match of the Day is a football highlights programme which debuted on BBC Two on 22 August 1964, and later moved to BBC One in 1966, and is ongoing as of 2024. Presenters for the series include Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Kenneth Wolstenholme, Jimmy Hill, and Ian Wright.

The series crossed over with the Doctor Who universe in various BBC releases.

In 2016, the Children in Need special Looking for Pudsey [+]Loading...["Looking for Pudsey (TV story)"] featured Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer on the set of Match of the Day.

In 2024, Wonder Chase [+]Loading...["Wonder Chase (video game)"] was released on Roblox as a crossover of various series owned by the BBC. This included both Doctor Who and Match of the Day, with both series having their own worlds, Match of the Day's being Total Sport.

Later in 2024, the minisode Match of the Who [+]Loading...["Match of the Who (TV story)"] was released, featuring the Fifteenth Doctor appearing on a futuristic Match of the Day alongside a cyborg Gary Lineker and a hologram Ian Wright, as well as featuring various previous presenters of the show via archival footage.
