The Powell Estate Library was located on Maddock Way towards the end with Bucknall House (TV: World War Three ^[+]Loading...["World War Three (TV story)"], The Christmas Invasion ^[+]Loading...["The Christmas Invasion (TV story)"], etc.) by 2006, (PROSE: Winner Takes All ^[+]Loading...["Winner Takes All (novel)"]) with at least the building existing as early as 4 March 2005. History

The building was present on the night of 4 March 2005. (TV: Rose ^[+]Loading...["Rose (TV story)"])

On 6 March 2006, it was visible when the Ninth Doctor took Rose Tyler arrived back in the Powell Estate after their accidental twelve-month absence. (TV: Aliens of London ^[+]Loading...["Aliens of London (TV story)"]) It was still present when the Doctor and Rose left again, leaving Mickey Smith and Jackie Tyler behind. (TV: World War Three ^[+]Loading...["World War Three (TV story)"])

Later in 2006, when the Doctor took Rose back to the Powell Estate, as she exited the TARDIS onto the courtyard of the estate, she saw the library and the youth club to her side. (PROSE: Winner Takes All ^[+]Loading...{"page":"13","chaptnum":"1","1":"Winner Takes All (novel)"})

The library still stood on Christmas Eve 2006, when the Tenth Doctor returned with Rose Tyler, with the outside of the building decorated for the season. (TV: The Christmas Invasion ^[+]Loading...["The Christmas Invasion (TV story)"])

Behind the scenes

• In the television episodes the library appears in, it appears to be a counterpart of the real world Brandon Library, part of the Brandon Estate's Youth and Community Centre, located in Kennington. This is evidenced by the position of landmarks and the numerous, unobscured and un-greeked signs around the estate that name the real street Maddock Way.
  • It also shares a building with the Brandon Youth Centre, which is shown to exist in the DWU by various paper signs throughout Aliens of London ^[+]Loading...["Aliens of London (TV story)"] and World War Three ^[+]Loading...["World War Three (TV story)"], although other signs cam be seen in the former episode for the Powell Youth Centre, inferring that the Brand Estate is another name for thr Powell Estate in-universe.
• The library was visible in Aliens of London, can be seen much more briefly in Rose, and can be seen from ground level in World War Three and The Christmas Invasion.

Though it's possible that a real world location doesn't exist in the same geographic space in the Doctor Who universe, such cases are few and far between. Thus, the map to the right is probably a good indicator of the DWU location of Powell Estate Library.
