Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • In the real world, George W. Bush is the son of President George H. W. Bush, and while he was elected in 2000, he was inaugurated as President in 2001.
  • Jon Culshaw previously did impressions of Bush in the contemporary sketch show Dead Ringers.
  • Jonathan Dennis' unofficial short story Hanging Chads depicted the meddling of Faction Paradox agents in the 2000 election. This was later referenced in Head of State.
    • The novel The Haunted Wagon Train [+]Loading...["The Haunted Wagon Train (novel)"] makes reference to Bush coming to office in a "controversial manner". Although unstated, this is referring to his narrow victory over Al Gore in the 2000 election, and the subsequent Bush v. Gore Supreme Court case.
  • In the short story Outsourcing [+]Loading...["Outsourcing (short story)"], the Doctor makes reference to a "George W" being a US President. This is likely to be a reference to Bush, who was the incumbent president at the time of the story's publishing in 2004, with "George W" being a common name to differentiate from his father. However, this may also be a reference to George Washington.
