T:OFF REL[[edit source]]

So what happened to T:OFF REL? Am I missing something? StevieGLiverpool ☎ 19:14, 23 September 2023 (UTC)

Just saw the history thing, ignore me!!! StevieGLiverpool ☎ 19:15, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, it's just that T:OFF REL hasn't been updated since the conclusion of Forum:Temporary forums/Changing the Spoiler Policy. 19:25, 23 September 2023 (UTC)

Year[[edit source]]

We currently have 2023 as the date the story is set, which lines up with Sylvia's claim that it's been fifteen years since Donna lost her memories. The problem is, thanks to that pesky Aliens of London dating controversy, this should actually place the current year at 2024. WaltK ☎ 21:21, 25 November 2023 (UTC)

Rose's age complicates things. Maybe Sylvia was rounding up/down?

From DWM 597:
"We slightly fudged the years with Donna," confesses Russell T Davies. "But you mustn't forget, uh, that time cloud that descended on Camden in 2017 and dislocated everyone by exactly eight months and three days. We'll tell that story one day. I will come to that in Series Seven," he jokes.

So. The date. The End of Time is set in 2010, and, by this point, Donna and Shaun didn't have a child. By the time of The Star Beast, whose date is 2023 as confirmed by the Word of God, has Rose Noble be fifteen years old. This doesn't make a wit of sense, but it's explicitly not set in 2025. This is now a separate issue from the Aliens of London dating controversy, but likely be its own The Star Beast dating controversy. 22:06, 25 November 2023 (UTC)

Summary[[edit source]]

Anyone currently working on this? I can get started if not. Najawin ☎ 21:55, 25 November 2023 (UTC)

Have started but need to go to bed. Will just publish changes, then somebody else can continue. With the credits, I was at either page three or four. Aquanafrahudy πŸ“’ πŸ–ŠοΈ 21:57, 25 November 2023 (UTC)
Summary has a skeleton. Edit to your hearts' content. Najawin ☎ 00:56, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

Thumbnail[[edit source]]

So, now that the episode has aired, let's talk about thumbnails rather than a poster. I have a few shots that miiiight work.

For what it's worth, my take is 5>1>3>2>4. I think 5, 1, and 3 are head and shoulders above the rest in terms of shots, but 2 and 4 are better plot representations. I don't think there's a great merging of the two I could find, imo, but I included 2 and 4 to be thorough. Najawin ☎ 01:22, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

My vote goes to #3. It just makes sense to me that the image represents the exact same scene that comic strip's main image also represents. WaltK ☎ 02:38, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
I like #3 and #5, but also #4 is we aren't afraid to spoil the twist with the image. BananaClownMan ☎ 09:22, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
My preference, based on nothing but personal opinion, would be 3, 5, 2, 1, 4. I don't think 1 is that clear as to what's going on. Bongo50 ☎ 11:05, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
3 and 5 are my top picks for sure. StevieGLiverpool ☎ 13:51, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
I actually think #4 is too busy. The Meep only takes up a small portion of the shot. WaltK ☎ 21:34, 26 November 2023 (UTC)

Okay, so looks like it's between 3 and 5. I prefer 5 because it better emphasizes the Noble family as part of the story, not just Meep. But I can live with 3. Najawin ☎ 01:03, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

Of those options, #3 gets my vote. β€” Fractal Doctor @ 01:08, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
Gah, accidentally hit enter without an edit summary. I pushed #3 live because discussion seems to have stalled with consensus that 3 is reasonable. Najawin ☎ 03:13, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

Camden[[edit source]]

Something in the episode that isn't made particularly clear (or it's mentioned at some point and I just forgot); are the Nobles now living in Camden, or are they still in Chiswick? I know they've clearly moved house since 2010, but I don't recall it ever being said where it is. WaltK ☎ 20:53, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

I believe they still live in Chiswick. There are a bunch of posters in Rose's shed that advertise craft fairs in Chiswick, so it seems likely she lives locally. 02:47, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

Pre-Titles[[edit source]]

According to director Rachel Talalay, she had no involvement with the pre-titles where the Fourteenth Doctor and Donna recapped the events of Series 4. Would it be worth referencing this in the Notes section (including links to relevant sources)? Mister Mavity ☎ 14:36, 7 March 2024 (UTC)

Yes. Bongo50 ☎ 16:00, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
