Okay, this one is a bit harder to find good shots for, imo. These were the ones I thought were even slightly decent. Obviously other can suggest new ones, this episode didn't have any standout moments for an infobox thumbnail imo.

Personally I'm partial to 2>1>4>3, but I can definitely see how some people would really like 3. It's just my own personal preference putting it so low. 2 basically shows nothing about the plot, but I think it's the best single shot in the episode. Najawin ☎ 20:17, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
Adding #5 and #6. I quite like #1 and #3, but I'd prefer #6 as I feel it'd evoke a sense of astrophobia, which I feel this episode had a large theme of. 20:33, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
Unrelated question, but what does "Attack on DW" mean? Danniesen ☎ 20:35, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
Riffing on how it looks like Attack on Titan. Najawin ☎ 20:37, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
  1. 3 for me. WaltK ☎ 21:04, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
My personal preference is 3>6>4. Don't like the others - seems weird to summise the episode in one picture and choose the beginning Newton gag or the dead horse captain. 1 is fine but also not really a shining moment for me - whereas the others showcase either the Not-Things or the edge of the universe, which I greatly appreciate. StevieGLiverpool ☎ 21:11, 2 December 2023 (UTC)

Yeah, I personally really don't like 3, just personal preference. Gives the game away wayyyyy too much. I get the 2 criticism, I just think it's the best shot even still. 6 is decent. I could live with 6. Violates looking left, but that actually is a good thing for what it's trying to evoke. Najawin ☎ 21:15, 2 December 2023 (UTC)

The dead space (pun not intended) is, like you said, evocative of the themes. Sometimes unconventional cinematography is used to deliberately "break" the rules, which I feel this is a case of. 21:27, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
I think #6 is the best choice, followed by #1. Evocative, representative of the episode, but doesn't completely give the game away. Aquanafrahudy πŸ“’ πŸ–ŠοΈ
I personally do not like 5 or 6: I feel that they're too dark. For me, 3 spoils the episode more than I feel a thumbnail should (although this is just my preference). As such, my order is 4>1>2>3>6>5. Bongo50 ☎ 22:01, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
To be fair space is dark. 22:09, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
Surely #4 spoils the episode to the same extent as #3? Aquanafrahudy πŸ“’ πŸ–ŠοΈ 22:12, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
I know that space is dark, but I feel that it is hard to make out details at thumbnail size. Number 4 is a little spoilery, but I do not feel that it is to the same degree as 3. 3 clearly shows that there is some weirdness with doppelgangers. I feel that 4 keeps it more ambiguous as to what is going on. Bongo50 ☎ 22:15, 2 December 2023 (UTC)

I'm with Bongo on 4 vs 3, 4 is just so bizarre that it doesn't give much away. I think the darkness works thematically on 6 though, so I'm fine with it. I do think it's an issue on 5. Najawin ☎ 22:38, 2 December 2023 (UTC)

The one with the horse-creature corpse doesn’t have much contrast, I don’t think it would work that well for the infobox. I liked a similar shot though:

My vote goes to #3. β€” Fractal Doctor @ 23:26, 2 December 2023 (UTC)

Okay, I think we can safely discount 2 and 5. I'm the only one that likes 2 and nobody has vouched for 5. Personally, I think #7 just undermines what #6 is trying to do. If we're getting rid of 2 and 5 for another round of discussion, my vote is 1>4>6>gap>7>really really big gap>3. I think 3 gives away way too much of the story. Also, personally, I just don't like the shot. But I think it's a massive spoiler. I do get that some people like it though, the shot bit is very subjective. Najawin ☎ 01:21, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
I can't get a screencap right now, but a curveball suggestion: a shot featuring 14, Donna and the robot from near the start? The robot is kind of essential to the plot's resolution but just seeing it in a screenshot gives nothing away - it's also a nice visual, with the 3 characters in the frame. β€” Fractal Doctor @ 01:25, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
I didn't notice a shot I thought was any good, but I'm open to suggestions if someone can find a decent one. Najawin ☎ 01:29, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
Any closer to a consensus here? Najawin ☎ 11:31, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
Throwing another contender into the ring. WaltK ☎ 20:24, 9 December 2023 (UTC)

I love #7. β€” Fractal Doctor @ 20:29, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

Which #7? Walt placed in a #7 after Gabe. I've gone back and changed it to #8 now. So 7 or 8? Najawin ☎ 21:39, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
Ah, no problem. I mean #8 - with the spoiler of dangly arms. Gives away something from the story but also is an intriguing screenshot, and summarises the story fairly well IMO. β€” Fractal Doctor @ 22:36, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

It has been nearly 9 full days since anyone posted anything here. As votes show, 1, 6 and 3 appear to have the most voiced support. Is a decision close to being made, given the lack of activity present here in over a week now (and nearly three weeks since WBY aired)? #6 is much too muddy at thumbnail level; you can't tell without prior knowledge what you're looking at. Out of #1 and #3, #3 seems preferable as foregrounding the central gimmick of the story. I'm tiebreaking in favour of that one and implementing it, though this does not forbid anyone from bringing in further alternatives. Scrooge MacDuck βŠ• 19:56, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

Continuity[[edit source]]

When The Doctor was talking to the not-being donna and wonders where did the TARDIS go, he makes a direct reference to the audio story Rise and fall, just like what happens in that short trip, he mentions it lands on a place and a tribe adores it and builds a civilization around it, its surrounded by buildings until the end of that civilization – The preceding unsigned comment was added by 131.196.82.10 (talk).

Could you perhaps refer to the place in that audio story you say it refers to as well as quoting the exact dialogue in the TV story? Danniesen ☎ 17:48, 20 December 2023 (UTC)

Relevance of "Wild Blue Yonder"[[edit source]]

The inclusion of the song and title "Wild Blue Yonder" feels very out of place on a surface-level reading of the material, so I wonder why it specifically was chosen. There wasn't anything particularly to do with war in the episode, after all. I came here because I was hoping that there might be some trivia tying the story and the song together more coherently, but unfortunately that's not the case.

I have my own thoughts about why it might have been chosen, but a wiki doesn't seem like the right place for speculation... So I'm hoping there's enough verifiable information out there to say something more about this topic in the article. I don't know how to go about gathering it myself, so I'm afraid leaving this comment is all I'm capable of on that front.2A02:A466:A997:0:74BA:2E0:D85C:CED1talk to me 14:47, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
