Thomas Mortimer, also known as Tommy, was the son of Mary Mortimer and father of Harry.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

Thomas was the son of Mary Mortimer and Rupert, with whom Mary had a brief fling, and grew up at Hideaway with his mother and grandfather, Henry Mortimer. From September 1962 to Easter 1963, River Song was his governess, but she left after saving his life from a wasp attack by taking him to 2014 to collect his future son Harry's EpiPen. She said goodbye to him and promised that she was not deserting him, telling him to list desserts when he next sees her in order to confuse her.

Interested in adventure thanks to River, Thomas met and entered into a relationship with Carla Alcazar, whom he brought back to Hideaway to live with Mary and "Maddie" for a time. In 1988, he saw River again and did as she had instructed him by listing cakes. He proposed to Carla upon learning that she was pregnant, but she rejected him as she did not feel that they were the type of people to get married and need not give into society's pressure to do so. Before River left again, she asked for Thomas's cassette player, which he gave her.

Thomas and Carla had Harry in 1988 or 1989. Thomas became an explorer and had a television programme on the BBC, for which Carla worked as the cinematographer. In 2014, they were in the Gobi Desert and were video-called by Harry, who told them that he was going to marry Vinay Siddiqui. (AUDIO: Friend of the Family)
