The Eternal Mystery was a promotional mini-episode written by Pete McTighe, and released in 2022. A trailer for the Doctor Who: The Collection — Season 22 Blu-ray boxset and interview clips with various actors who had appeared in Season 22 appeared as a kind of ad break. A sequel to Mindwarp, the webcast featured the return of Nicola Bryant to the part of Peri Brown on screen.
Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]
On Krontep, a guard Rex questions a hooded figure praying in front of a statue of Yrcanos, who reveals herself as the Warrior Queen, Peri Brown. She tells him why she disappeared and that she visits the temple once a year with the Sixth Doctor. Learning that Rex wants to explore the universe, she invites him on board the TARDIS.

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- The temple of Yrcanos was filmed in the Temple of Peace in Cardiff.
- Due to the events of Peri and the Piscon Paradox, it was initially unclear in which timeline this story takes place. It was possible that this version of Peri was the same one that resumed travelling with the Doctor at the conclusion of The Widow's Assassin. However, some of the dialogue implies that Peri enjoyed a long and happy marriage with Yrcanos before his death, which is more in line with the events of The Age of Chaos. It is later clarified in Tales of the Tardis that this is in fact yet another version of Peri.
- This is the first live-action appearance of Peri since Dimensions in Time.
Continuity[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Peri's disappearance following Yrcanos's death is mentioned and she reveals to her subjects that she resumed travelling with the Doctor. (TV: Vengeance on Varos [+]Loading...["Vengeance on Varos (TotT TV story)"])
- Rex's stepfather not wanting Rex to travel is similar to Howard Foster not wanting Peri to go travelling. (TV: Planet of Fire)
- Peri's robe bears a resemblance to that worn by Ranith during COMIC: The Age of Chaos.
- While giving a final fond look at Yrcanos' statue, Peri says 'vroomnik', the battlecry that Yrcanos used to give. (TV: Mindwarp)
- A smaller version of the statue from this story reappears in WC: The Artist at the End of Time [+]Loading...["The Artist at the End of Time (webcast)"].
