== Bot action ==
== Whatever happened to DiSoRiEnTeD1? ==

I ''may'' need you to run the bot for to help me with me current job. I am currently wading through all our 'TV crew stubs' and removing the ones that aren't actually stubs. At the same time, I am tidying up the pages and this is where the bot could help:
Hello!

* Putting 'External links' into sentence case. It a frequent problem I have found, and is quite annoying. I know it doesn't show up on the heading, but it does if there is a contents page. Is it not the case headings should be in sentence case?
I know you have [[Sea creature (Thin Ice)|bigger fish]] to fry at present, and I am also sorry to begin your new talk page on such a glum note, but — [[User:Najawin]] has just alerted me, on a talk page, to your recent blocking of [[User:DiSoRiEnTeD1]] for sockpuppetry.

* The additional space that was added by Users between article texts and 'External links'.
DiSoRiEnTeD1 and I agreed on few things, and a mere glance at his talk page will show that he was sometimes unruly or even disruptive. Nevertheless, I never had cause to ascribe any malice to him until today; he merely came across as rash and inexperienced. DiSoRiEnTeD1 had, a little while ago, come to believe there was some sort of admin conspiracy against hims, and [[User:OncomingStorm12th]], [[User:SOTO]] and myself had agreed that it was best to give him strong warnings, but ''not'' block him, so as to prove him wrong on this point and show him we were not some cabal itching for an excuse to ban him.

* The changing of 'story' or 'television serial/episode' to 'television story'.
He had scarcely shown his face (well, his default user avatar) since then, however. And if he has now left us so definitively… well, I think I and several other users (from OS12th to his frequent talk-page sparring partner [[User:Najawin]]) may be owed some closure on the subject of DiSoRiEnTeD1. Najawin, for example, had scruples on [[Talk:List of recurring Doctor Who concepts not owned by the BBC#Original Mammoths|the talk page I mentioned earlier]], because, for all that he often went overboard in defense of it, DiSoRiEnTeD1 was the main and most steadfast supports of positions ''opposite'' to Najawin's (or to mine) in many discussions. Which puts us all in the somewhat awkward position of "winning" by default, without the opposition getting to have a say at the conclusion.

At the moment, I am about to going through the 'D's and have managed to cut the 'A's, 'B's and 'C's down by three quarters. Once I have done with the TV crew, I plan to go through them and try and fill them in as much as I can to 'unstub' them. Once that is done, it should be on the TV cast stubs. [[User:Mini-mitch|MM]]/<small>[[User talk:Mini-mitch|Want to talk?]]</small> 20:05, November 20, 2012 (UTC)
So, after all that, and because your blocking-summary was rather vague (and you did not, or at least have not yet, posted a more fully written-out rationale on his talk page)… my question is just — what ''happened''? What precisely did he do? When? Where?

: That may be a fault on my behalf. What I meant was 'television episode' or 'television serial'. There is a small handful or things that are used:
To be clear, I am not asking for any kind of reduction to his ban, or ''questioning'' your decision; if he did indeed break [[T:SOCK]], there is nothing more to be said on the matter in terms of his actual punishment. My questions are just that — curiosity. And perhaps a hint of sadness that it came to this, after all the tiresome drama and the accusations and the reassurances. DiSoRiEnTeD1, at least until this sockpuppetry business, was never a troll, and is owed, perhaps, a little respect as he goes.
:* Television story - which is what I am changing everything else to.
:* Television episode
:* Television serial
:* Serial
:* Story
:* Episode
:* [[TV]]

: I think that 'television story' (or stories in some cases) is better, than those above and should be changed so they are all the same. [[User:Mini-mitch|MM]]/<small>[[User talk:Mini-mitch|Want to talk?]]</small> 20:10, November 21, 2012 (UTC)

:: Alright, cool. I just went through the TV crew stubs and found five. [[Carolyn Mawdsley]], [[Rochelle Selwyn]], [[Ruth Mayorcas]], [[Gary Sheppard]] and [[James Scott]]. [[User:Mini-mitch|MM]]/<small>[[User talk:Mini-mitch|Want to talk?]]</small> 20:18, November 21, 2012 (UTC)
…But as I led with, all these rather nebulous feelings of mine are nothing urgent, and I know you have other things on your plate. Get to this when it's convenient for you, and don't hurry yourself on my account! The UCP, home page and so on are clearly more pressing uses of your limited time. ::: Yeah, I've only encountered on TV crew member pages (not to sure about actor pages, will have to check). The majority, if not all of them are Bob's handiwork - which will mean that it will be on real world pages - especially actor and crew member pages.
== Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls ==

::: Half the stubs, maybe even two thirds of the pages are because people (Bob again, mainly) can't be bothered to removed the stub tag.
Hello. I know you've been busy but this looks possibly important so I wanted to let you know. After seeing [[:Category:Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls]], I created the page with an explanation as to what it was, as there was some confusion. When the edit completed a big message appeared about "change propagation" and the "job queue". I don't know enough about the code of MediaWiki to know what this really means, or if it will affect anything, but seeing as it appears important and you control the technical aspects of the wiki, I thought you should know. I hope it didn't mess up anything... [[User:Chubby Potato|Chubby Potato]] [[User talk:Chubby Potato|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 09:39, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

::: Cheers for moving the category to template, should make the job a lot easier. Just so you know, I only have the Hs, Ms, Ps, Rs, Ts, Ss and Ws to do. All other letters are done. The list has now been hugely cut. [[User:Mini-mitch|MM]]/<small>[[User talk:Mini-mitch|Want to talk?]]</small> 22:10, November 21, 2012 (UTC)

I have been noticing a recent surge of either multiple IP users or one user with a fluctuating IP creating some truly bizarre spam pages consisting of pure nonsense and usually being horribly garbled copies of existing valid maintenance pages. Also exhibiting some similar behaviour and overlap of interests to some earlier vandals coming over here from some truly strange wiki apparently about old people of all things to insert ageist remarks into pages about Peter Capaldi and sexist one into pages about Jodie Whittaker. Yeah, I don't know either. [[User:NightmareofEden|NightmareofEden]] [[User talk:NightmareofEden|<span title="Talk to me"></span>]] 12:52, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

Good to know. I did just make [https://tardis.fandom.com/f/p/4400000000003394852 another post] on the matter just before I received your message, so feel free to delete that. I would like to ask you politely to unlock the initial discussion though, as you ''did'' ask for ideas. In all seriousness I am glad that it's all worked out in the end with the Hebrew Wiki, and I am sorry that my contributions to the wiki were so headache-inducing. I've worked with numerous wikis since we've last spoken and have used my experiences here as a reminder to be a bit more cautious. == Re: Discussions use ==
Right right, I see!

==New forums==
Well, honestly — I agree with you, on the usefulness of ''not'' holding policy-making threads in Discussions! It's just that ''your own'' quite detailed post seemed to me like a Forum post, and so I thought ''you'' had changed your mind about this. I have no particular ''wish'' that we do this now, so long as it is agreed that we do it later; I genuinely thought ''you'' were the one who wanted it handled in Discussions, there.
The new forums kinda look like, well, what people associate with a forum / message board sort of thing. I think management wise it might be better, though the ability to delete posts is still an issue for me. Also not sure about the kudos feature. The forum thread history and the diff presentation seems to be implemented kinda oddly.

Also what are we to do with the active threads on the forums at the moment? Or will they just be wrapped up or continued in the new forums?
But thanks for the explanation, all the same! [[User:Scrooge MacDuck|Scrooge MacDuck]] [[User talk:Scrooge MacDuck|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 22:02, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

Thought you were going to kick back and just create pages about cricket or food eaten at cricket matches or something? == Re: DWM ==
Just saw your message at [[User talk:LegoK9]]: …what's going on, here? Since when do copyright-holders ring us up and ask us not to include an image on the Wiki? What about fair use and all that? So long as we are reproducing the images for a documentary purpose, there isn't supposed to be much they can say — is there?

== The forum thread about not signing posts ==
To be clear I assume you have a good reason, but I'm wondering about what kind of a weird precedent this is setting, and how it should be applied in future. [[User:Scrooge MacDuck|Scrooge MacDuck]] [[User talk:Scrooge MacDuck|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 19:38, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
On your post about not signing forum posts, in the exceptions you say the only exceptions are pages with "talk" in the name.  However, I also think it's worth mentioning in the exceptions that signatures should be required on the Howling still as it doesn't use the new forum format.  Unless we aren't meant to sign there either, in which case I would like to know why since it doesn't use the new forum format.  Thanks for your time. [[User:Imamadmad|Imamadmad]] [[User talk:Imamadmad|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 03:43, December 3, 2012 (UTC)
:Well, yes — but here I can't see how we could possibly be talking about questions of ''privacy''. These are not candid images of private individuals, found in a derelict corner of the web and unfairly signal-booted. These are images that are even now widely reproduced in ''[[Doctor Who Magazine]]''. DWM is widely sold among ''Who'' fans — and more widely read, perhaps, than our own Wiki.

== Cyber-edit-wars ==
:Furthermore they are not images of a real person, but publicity shots of [[the Doctor (The Brain of Morbius)|the Doctor]]. If DWM asked us not to reproduce a particular publicity shot of [[Peter Capaldi]] as the [[Twelfth Doctor]], would we be forced to delete it to "protect Capaldi's privacy"? [[User:Scrooge MacDuck|Scrooge MacDuck]] [[User talk:Scrooge MacDuck|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 23:06, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
::Hm. I suppose I see what you mean — and I certainly see the sense in maintaining good relations with DWM. I do have to question the wisdom of such a hard rule as "wishes of the copyright holder ''always'' trump fair use": what if Big Finish came out and asked us not to host ''any'' images of their covers at ''all'', or something of the kind? I could see a publisher of DWU fiction making that kind of pronouncement, albeit not necessarily the Beeb themselves. I can't imagine we could comply with that kind of blanket ban, and still remain a halfway useful Wiki. If they threaten legal action that is another thing, but a mere ''wish'' should not paralyse a whole fandom so.

I think it would be a good idea to lock down [[Cyberman]] to anon-users. There have been quite a few edit wars started there of a person or persons who doesn't have an account and thinks that the "Mondasian Cybermen are all dead" or something. [[User:OttselSpy25|OS25]] ([[User Talk:OttselSpy25|talk to me, baby.]]) 21:10, December 3, 2012 (UTC)
::I am speaking in general terms, though. The point is well-taken that in this case we have other publicity shots of that Doctor, from that year, in that outfit. It is not at all essential that we retain this particular one on the Wiki, so we might as well keep DWM happy.

==Wikia and their TOU==
::(For the record I ''have'' seen a comparable case on another Wiki on which I am an admin; but that case involved a picture of a real person, not a 50-year-old publicity shot of a ''character''; and furthermore it was not a picture readily available to the whole of the fandom in a magazine.) [[User:Scrooge MacDuck|Scrooge MacDuck]] [[User talk:Scrooge MacDuck|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 23:51, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
I did see it and wondered what it was and was going to try clicking 'start discussion' to see what happened. I assumed it was something to do with the new forum rollout or something.

As you've explained it, it seems that it's ''another'' case of Wikia deciding to roll something out without much care of how it works, the old 'hey this is cool, we'll implement it everywhere' mentality Wikia seems to have. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 07:56, December 4, 2012 (UTC)

==Advice - Retraction request==
== Millennia's blue hair ==
You've rambled around more wikis and Wikipedia than I have, on my [[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk page]] I've been asked to retract my opinion on [[Forum:Inclusion debate:Señor 105]]. It's entirely possible that the unsigned user is the author in question. I haven't been able to find any statement by Paul Leonard/Hinder. Searching for information about it the forum discussion does turn up, which I'd assume is how the author (or someone pretending to be the author) found the forum discussion. Any advice would be great thanks. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 07:38, December 5, 2012 (UTC)

== Videos ==
I already made a forum post about this, but maybe this is better. Where did the information on Millennia's blue hair come from? It's been bugging many of us in the Deca fandom for quite some time. I see the edit on that was made in August of 2011, while the page itself was made in 2009. Many people have read through Divided Loyalties, even going as far as to specifically search for "blue hair," and have turned up empty. Was this just some fan thing that everyone agreed upon? Thank you!

==Background Change==
Hello. You might not remember me but my account is called Manarchy. I'm currently using a VPN to talk to you and i wanted to talk about my ban. It's been a couple of years since i even visited this wikia and I realised that I had grown more mature as the years went by. If it is possible, is there any way you could unban my account? I apologise for my actions as a young teenager and promise that I will be more mature on this site. If it is impossible, then i'm just glad to wrap things up with this wikia.
Hey, I noticed that you guys have changed the background again; I like it, naturally, but I've always wondered: how did you all come to the decision of using Christopher Eccleston's Doctor for the previous background? I'm not complaining, of course (Doctor Nine is severely underrated), but I'm still curious about why you chose him.

Oh, and thank you for warning me about not getting my hopes up for "Asylum.[[User:Dr. Anonymous1|Dr. Anonymous1]] [[User talk:Dr. Anonymous1|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 20:36, December 6, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm glad that you made that choice. And honestly, I am actually kind of glad to see Amy and Rory go; I mean, I liked them, but their story was long since over by the time they were unnecessarily forced into  "Asylum", and they had pretty much worn out their welcome.
== Overall Century layout + Century timeline template fix ==

And actually, I REALLY wouldn't mind if Moffat himself passed on the baton as well; I mean, he wrote some pretty good stories (the Empty Child), as a showrunner he made some totally unnecessary and not very good "changes" to the show (will they change the title sequence already?!). Besides, he REALLY screwed the pooch big-time on Parody... I mean, ASYLUM of the Daleks. I mean, he promised three things to us viewers:
Hi, I'm sort of a lurker on this wiki, though I do currently own [https://eminem.fandom.com/wiki/User:Kris_tha_6%277%22 Eminem Wiki], so I have used the Wikitext language before, though I am certain there's a few things I'd need to learn. I've attempted to understand (and fix, though I haven't made any changes permanent) through the creation and usage of the template [[Template:TimelineRevised]] and (originally) [[Template:Order of Centuries]] (which should be deleted), with no success. I noticed that (ex. [[1st century]]) the listed centuries are duplicated in the list (as the categories themselves as well as the pages for the individual centuries are listed).
1.  a horde of insane, demented Daleks
<br><small>- [https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/User:Kris_tha_6%277%22 Kris tha 6'7"] [[User talk:Kris tha 6&#39;7&#34;|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 23:48, 24 July 2021 (UTC)</small>
2. A revisit of every Dalek model in the show's history, which would make it a must-watch for any Dalek aficionado
3. The Daleks becoming scary again.

Here's what he churned out:
== Re: Some of your recent changes and proposals ==
1. A horde of Daleks whose greatest affliction is an easily-fixed speech impediment

2. One or two of the old Daleks, which are only seen two or three times in the background for five seconds, making trying to spot them akin to playing a monochromatic game of "Where's Waldo?"
Hi, thanks for your detailed breakdown. There are a few things that I would like to rebut, protest and clarify. The stuff in [[MediaWiki:Fandomdesktop.css|Fandomdesktop.css]] was only ever intended to be temporary. It was just a collection of fixes to apply over the top of existing CSS. I had plans to write some better, more permanent CSS but this was impractical due to the fact that I can't edit these CSS pages and so had to use my off-wiki contact with [[User:Scrooge MacDuck|Scrooge MacDuck]] and [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] to get the CSS implemented. Therefore, I deemed the method I used to be most ideal as it's better to have something that works, even if it's not perfect, then nothing at all.

3. A bunch of Dalek-insulting concepts that would have been better suited for "Curse of Fatal Death", such as the Doctor opening a Dalek's dome like a wastebasket (?!!!), the idea that the notoriously authoritarian Dalek Empire has developed a Parliament (which, by the way, is entirely unnecessary and contradictory to pretty much everything previously established about them), and a bunch of Daleks yelling "Doctor Who" over and over again. What great ideas, Moffat.
The background was not added by me but rather [[User:SOTO|SOTO]]. I believe the reason it was done through CSS was because it was more complex then a single image but I'm not entirely sure.

There. Rant over. I'm sorry, I'm just really ticked by how badly Moffat failed to fulfill his promises in that episode. As far as I'm concerned, the only really good thing that "Asylum" contributed to Dalek lore was the restoration of the bronze models as the standard model. And thank God for that.
The issue with screenreaders is to do with collapsibles and I'm sorry to admit that I rolled out a [[Template:SourceFilter|set of templates]] into the theory namespace a few days ago. I'm not sure how you may want to proceed here.

But I really think that, next time they make a Dalek episode, they hire a writer who can actually show the Daleks some respect... Like Nick Briggs! He made them terrifying in his audio stories.
My understanding of SMW was that, if a wiki has it enabled, it is fine for that wiki to use it. Certainly, I've spoken a fair bit with users on the Fandom Discord server about it and I was never told not to use it. While I do prefer Cargo, SMW is very useful and I feel it should be used to it's fullest potential. Moreover, it's already used heavily in templates such as {{tlx|wales crew}} and {{tlx|Speedy rename}} so surely a few more wouldn't hurt. Also, the template being developed in that sandbox was not to automate prefixes but rather to add more detail to citations. This would be a massive burden to have to type manually.

All in all, I just REALLY don't like the direction Moffat's taken the series. I mean, say what you like about RTD (believe me, I have), but overall he was a MUCH better showrunner. If someone else could take over, and undo (or redo) the changes to the show that Moffat's made, I really wouldn't mind.
Tooltips was a route I was considering a long time ago but I haven't been for a while now.

Anyway, now that my cathartic rant is out of the way... What else is new around here?
I hope that you are now feeling better on the medical front. [[User:Bongolium500|Bongo50 (aka Bongolium500)]] [[User talk:Bongolium500|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 07:41, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for locking the edits on the page for Peri Brown - I was the user who saw the original post when one of the other users started adding fanfiction to the page, so I undid the edit, but from then on I kept getting emails letting me know that that user was editing the page to put the fanfiction back on, so I kept undoing it. The version which is locked on there right now actually has the beginning of the fanfiction entry at the very bottom of the page - a section called Alternate Timeline stating Peri and the Fifth Doctor had a daughter named Melanie Cranleigh (which, according to the profile, is the name of user:Michikojichoi , who made the edit originally). Would it be possible to have this removed as the page is edit locked? Thank you for all the hard work you put into this site, it's great! Thanks,
So while you're been busy working on the new forums for the UCP, with the return to the actual Forum namespace no doubt around the corner, a number of users have suggested we set up [[Tardis talk:Temporary forums|temporary forums]], so we can still get the ''essential'' discussions out of the way, in the meantime. {{first pic|Mouri.jpg|Creatures who [[Tardis:Who writes policy|hold Time in this universe together]] broken. Time is beginning to run wild. Could really harm the [[Doctor Who Wiki|Tardis]]. So I made a short-term repair.}}
Basically, six slots would be open for new discussions (we actually have a list of priorities going). In the spirit of ''[[Doctor Who: Flux]]'', rather like the [[Mouri]] in the [[Temple of Atropos]], all forum discussion passes through these spaces (beyond the scope of talk pages). When one closes, its spot will be opened for another to take its place.

Mental note: Do you like to cause trouble on Wiki? I sure hope you don't.-->
<code><nowiki>[[Tardis:Temporary forums]]</nowiki></code> would be the Hub, with

== Disambiguating a common term ==
:1. Links to these six spaces;
:2: A list of future discussions ("Next Up", agreed to on the talk page);
:3. An archive section (with table format, showing resolves/unresolved, and a quick summary of the closing remarks).
All in one place. This will help with moving things over to the Actual Forums. And there will be a strict time limit on these discussions: three weeks until [[Closing Time (TV story)|closing time]]. When this time is up, if a discussion has not reached a conclusion, it'll be closed as unresolved (marked yellow in the table), and taken to the bottom of the list, to be revived later.

Now, it's a given that the word "cotton" appears in the DWU (If you're still not sure, I'm partway through ''[[Exodus Code (novel)|Exodus Code]]'', and the word's used on pages 36 and 64). Does that mean the location of the disambiguation page I recently created should be Cotton (disambiguation) and the material the "primary term" on "just Cotton"? -- [[User:Tybort|Tybort]] ([[User talk:Tybort|talk page]]) 13:02, December 8, 2012 (UTC)
This is all to make sure we get the maximum gain (actual resolution) out of a small number of discussions at any one time (to ease the load, creating a smoother transition, with only a small number of pages to move over into the New Forums, later on)<ref>It will also make sure these will be '''non-trivial discussions''' for us to pass over. To be added to the list, a new proposal needs to meet two criteria: It must... '''1''': be actionable (within the three week time limit, it should be ''possible'' to hash out), '''2''': affect a large number of pages.</ref>.

== Edit to valid sources ==
The thing is, we just wanted to make sure you weren't ''just'' about to hit that [[magno-grab remote|big friendly button]] before proceeding. No point in all this, after all, if there won't be time enough for round one before the next stage of forum evolution's upon us again. We were thinking about opening the temporary forums on the Sunday after next, around ''Doctor Who'' time<ref>Which is to say, around the time we'd start the page for a [[Series 13 (Doctor Who 2005)|new episode]] of ''[[Doctor Who]]''. Bottom of the hour, as you once explained to me.</ref> That'd be Sunday Jan 23rd, 19:30 UTC. Unless you think you'll have the Newest Forums up and running by then?

There's a section on [[Tardis:Valid sources#Explaining the rules|Tardis:Valid sources]] which mentions "an" ''TV'' audiobook from AudioGO. It's clear that before a massive bot run to simplify the prefixes, that that was an ''SJA'' audiobook. Could that be fixed?

== Off-topic megathread for discussions ==

Is what I've heard you say a few times about webcasts basically being television a shut case, or is there still an unresolved discussion of how to approach webcasts and websites' prefixes (and if websites that still exist like [[UNIT website|UNIT]] "count")? I noticed nothing Internet-related is on [[Tardis:Prefixes]]' in-universe sources. -- [[User:Tybort|Tybort]] ([[User talk:Tybort|talk page]]) 22:02, December 10, 2012 (UTC)
So I’ve seen a few wikis with off-topic megathreads (Jurassic Park wiki being one example, with the “Chaos Zone”), which are basically discussions threads where users can post whatever they want that is not related to the subject of the wiki (in this case, posts unrelated to Doctor Who) in the replies to that thread. We could put it in the FANDOM posts category, so it’s easier to find, and we can tell users about it whenever a discussion is or goes off-topic. Maybe we could call it “The Void” too, as it is technically outside of “the universe of the wiki”, as the void was outside the universe of Doctor Who. What do you think about this idea? == Personal information ==
I will keep an eye out for the Wikia Mobile App, whenever it appears next year. I've found Wikipedia's mobile app to be ''terrible'' quicker to just search in safari than use the app. Hopefully Wikia's offering will be better. But from reading the post it'll be reading only not editing. I think I've mentioned before that the site looks fine on the iPad on any of the browsers that you can use on the iPad. Some render things a little differently to others and depending on which mobile browser you use the side stub tags etc appear or don't appear. I can take some screenshots if you're interested.

I'm surprised about the TOU and that guy's avatar not running afoul of it. Wikia's strange some of the time. They'll let that through but not let us get rid of a button or hide an ugly bit of formatting. Though it does seem now that his avatar has been removed.
Hey, how have you been? [[User:Najawin]] recently alerted me over personal/potentially doxxing information being added to [[Claudia Boleyn|one of our pages]] recently by an anonymous user. Since then, I've protected the page so that only autoconfirmed users can edit it (which thankfully stopped the info being added again), but Najawin further contacted me pointing out that we should probably delete said revisions from the page (which I don't believe is something ''I'' am able to do.

A question about the (new) forums, is there any way to increase the amount of threads shown per page to more than 10? I had a look on the Community Central boards and their limit appears to be 10 as well, so I'm guessing it's a technical limitation? Just thought I'd ask as I'm not sure if everyone will look beyond the first page of threads.
Would you mind helping out on this? [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 18:41, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

Also, relating to Acer4666's post about the big box of nothing obscuring when viewing the source of locked pages, it's not just here as I saw it happening over on Wookipedia. I just put it down to the many bugs of Wikia and didn't think much more of it. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 03:43, December 17, 2012 (UTC)
:Just to note, for the technical bit of this getting done, the first edit to add potentially doxxing information was on 26 May 2022‎, and more information was added over time. Nobody noticed it aside from an IP user until this past September when I was checking some old conversations I had and links in them. I promptly removed the info, but someone then added it back. == El Señor ==
Hello CzechOut,

I'm Blair Bidmead, the author of 'By The Time I Get To Venus' I've already been in touch with one of your other contributers, Tangerineduel.
== Template:Wales crew updates ==

This 'controversy' about my novella was brought to my attention by my editor. Like I said to Tangerineduel; I am less interested in Señor 105's inclusion in the Wiki (although. personally, I don't see why the character shouldn't be) than I am about the doubts being cast as to Paul Hinder (aka, Paul Leonard) granting his permission to use his concepts.
Hi! Terribly sorry to bother you, but for about a year now I've been, I think, the main person filling in the "Wales crew" template for new episodes (starting with ''[[The Halloween Apocalypse (TV story)|The Halloween Apocalypse]]'', although the one for ''[[Revolution of the Daleks (TV story)|Revolution of the Daleks]]'' is also mostly my work), and I've been logging the new variables they need added over at [[Template talk:Wales crew]].

He is acknowledged in the ebook itself and on the publisher's website. I am not sure what else I can do to convince you. If I supply contact details for Paul, you're only going to doubt their validity, because I would be supplying them.
I gather that [[User:SOTO]] has been basically in charge of the template for some time now, but after a very courteous initial reply I haven't received any more communication from them and the template appears unchanged – understandable as they're very busy! I also tried leaving a message on their talk page a few months ago, but no dice... which is why I'm here, as from the talk page it looks like you used to deal with that template.

Paul Hinder has (we hope, temporarily) retired from writing, but is contactable. The Doctor Who writer; Jim Mortimore is a friend of his. Indeed, Jim supplied me with visual reference of the Venusians when I was writing the book at Paul's suggestion.
I wonder if you might be willing to put me in touch with SOTO, take a look at it yourself, or point me in the direction of someone else who could help? If it's an option, I would love to be able to edit the template myself instead of endlessly bothering busy admins. Again, I'm very sorry to contact you out of the blue about something you used to maintain ten years ago! Further verification is out there, if you need it. I am certain you don't mean to paint me as a plagiarist, but the implication is there, on this site and it makes me a little uncomfortable.

Hi Czechout
I know I am in the wrong place however for some reason I am unable to comment on the user rights page but long story short i absolutely and wholeheartedly support bongolium 500 in becoming a admin, I know I haven't really contributed anything yet but this is because I am currently trying to learn the rules and how to include the source of my information but I will hopefully be contributing at some point as not only am I a huge doctor who fan but I sometimes work on doctor who as a stunt performer!!!, Anyway I support Bongolium 500 because as a newcomer to contributing on this wikia he is invaluable for the technical stuff in the form of creating new templates I plan to use his help with templates when I hopefully start contributing. {{Unsigned|Ser0slug}}

== Happy new year ==
<div style=margin-left:25px>
If you think that we're accusing you of plagiarism, or even implying the same, then you badly misunderstand the point of our discussion. So let me attempt to clarify:

:'''Your word isn't good enough.  Your word isn't even relevant.  As the author of the work in question, your ''self-published'' words have no influence on our discussion whatsoever.
I Know 2023 isn't here yet, though as I'm near the last day til New Year's Eve, happy new year. [[User:Sum41Champ]]

It's as simple as that.

You may not be interested in the matter of whether this e-novella is inlcuded on this site, but that's the ''only'' discussion of relevance to us. If we don't allow a page to be created for the book, then the "controversy", such as it is, simply melts away.  Put very coldly, you only matter to us inasmuch as you're the author of a book we cover.  That's why everything we've been saying in this discussion has been geared towards figuring out whether [[Paul Leonard]] gave his permission — and whether, in the presence of such permission, the novella is close enough to the [[DWU]] to be covered here.
== Temporary Forums Are Live! ==
Hello!

It is a very long-held convention of wiki-editing that self-published sources are usually unreliable. {{w|WP:NOTRS|Wikiedia's guide to unreliable sources}} stresses the need to avoid the situation we have with you.  To my eye, what seems to be happening is this:
Just wanted to notify you that, [[User:CzechOut]]'s final deadline of "by New Year's Day" having passed, and following in-depth discussion between myself and fellow admins [[User:SOTO]], [[User:OncomingStorm12th]] and [[User:Bongolium500]], we have decided to '''activate [[Tardis:Temporary forums]]''', come what may. A [[MediaWiki:Sitenotice|sitenotice]] has been set to inform the community of this development, and I am taking it upon myself to personally update [[Tardis:Administrators|our Administrators]] on the situation, as well as [[User:Spongebob456]].

:'''Someone we don't personally know, and whose identity we can't absolutely verify, has claimed to be the author of something they don't fully, legally own.  They're claiming that they have permission from the third party who owns the content to legally publish works that contain those copyrighted elements.
As the name implies, we hope the Temporary Forums will remain — well — temporary. Any work on reactivating proper DPL Forums will still be welcome and appreciated; this system is a further fine-tuning of the setup Bongolium500 had proposed in December 2021, which it means is designed from the ground up to be '''easy to transfer into the actual DPL Forums''' if we should get those back in the near future after all.

Now, don't mistake what's being said here.  I'm not calling you a liar.  I'm simply saying that [[user:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] has looked for material that independently confirms the claims of your blog, and he hasn't found any.  (And no one has even ''hinted'' that you were a plagiarist, in the common sense definition of the word. At no point has ''anyone'' suggested that you copied anyone's work.)
But it has been ''multiple years'' since the Wiki has had a venue for changing policy and forming community consensus on important matters. Bongolium500 and SOTO put forward the first draft of the Temporary Forums a full ''year'' ago — and were convinced to retract it by a promise that the real Forums would come ‘very soon’; and here we are. I don't think anyone's at fault, least of all you; it is clear that you've had the Wiki's best interests at heart all through this. But the fact is thatthe time has come to realise that this overly-optimistic strategy of endlessly putting off an imperfect temporary solution in pursuit of a perfect one "soon"… has failed, resoundingly. It is time for a different approach. The Tardis community are ''owed'' a different approach.

Put another way, the material discovered so far falls foul of {{w|WP:SELFPUB|Wikipedia's admonishment to avoid self-published material}}. You are making an important (and {{w|WP:EXCEPTIONAL|in Wikipedia terms, an "exceptional"}}) claim that is not backed up by any mainstream (or even "mainstream for DW fans") sources.  The reason it's such an extraordinary claim is that the entire justification for including these Señor 105 e-novellas on our site ''at all'' depends upon [[Paul Leonard]]'s permission. If he didn't give permission, then we flatly don't cover the e-novellas.  Period.  Without question.
We [[four surviving elementals|four elementals]] behind the Temporary Forums would like to reassure the rest of the admin team that this necessary step '''is not intended to create more work for them unbidden'''. Four are, if it comes to that, plenty enough to keep the peace a Forum with no more than six threads running at a time; we would be thrilled to see the rest of the team embracing the Temporary Forums, but please don't feel any ''obligation'' to do so.

Your material wasn't covered by ''[[Doctor Who Magazine]]'', as far as we've been able to tell, nor by any literary review magazine, nor even by a random site that conducted an interview with Paul Leonard.  No independent ''Doctor Who'' site of which we are aware, and which we consider valid by our own local policies, has ''mentioned'' your work at all — or, more crucially, Leonard's permission for your work.  (Again, ''so far as we are currently aware''.)
Happy New Year, happy editing — and happy contribution to the New Forums!

And that's our conundrum.  Neither I nor Tangerineduel are saying you're other than that which you have represented yourself to be. What we're saying, simply, is that you are ''not'' Paul Leonard.  You therefore cannot make assertions about him '''in material that you have yourself published''' that we can use. Now, if you were interviewed somewhere by a reputable source, we could quote that source as to the opinion you offered. But you can't just say, "Oh, my blog site, or my Twitter feed or my Tumblr says I've got Leonard's permission, so it's all cool." Remember, we're talking about ''his'' reputation as much as we are yours.
<span style="color: #baa3d6;font-family:Comic Sans;">[[User:Scrooge MacDuck|'''Scrooge MacDuck''']]</span> <span style="color: #baa3d6;">[[User_talk:Scrooge MacDuck|⊕]]</span> 11:01, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

Surely you can see the administrative ''nightmare'' that would be caused by allowing in these e-novellas based on your word alone.  If we did it for you, we'd have to do it for ''anyone''. And, quite obviously, people — not you, but "people" — do like to exaggerate their connections to those who make their favourite fiction.  In this age of self-publication, we must be extra-cautious about claims that one person is making of another living person.  Even if that means that the occasional truth does not get published on our site.
== Re: Forums ==

Obviously, if you have material that you think would ''not'' fall foul of the above-mentioned Wikipedia policies, we'll be happy to review it. Actually, if you have ''anything'' else besides your blog, we'll be happy to review it.  This discussion started from a position of total ignorance about your work, and that condition hasn't really changed.  So any further light you can shed on it will be ''most'' welcome. {{user:CzechOut/Sig}}{{User:CzechOut/TimeFormat}} 16:52: Tue 18 Dec 2012</span>

Hi CzechOut,

'By The Time I Get To Venus' was not 'self-published'. It was published by 'Manleigh Books' which is the e-book offshoot of 'Obverse Books'. I was approached by the editor of the Señor 105 series (Cody Quijano-Schell) to pitch. I was commissioned and paid for my work.

It's hard to find any information about this story, but I did find that you wrote an article about it on the TARDIS Wiki, so I assume you've read it. I was wondering if you might still have access to this story? I will be very grateful for your answer.

Oh, OK. I was going to leave it there, but you've pointed out my misunderstanding your comment about 'self-publishing' - My bad. Apologies.

Just to reiterate; I get that you feel you need further verification. I understand your thinking completely.

Like I said previously, Jim Mortimore is easy enough to contact via the 'net (He's on facebook for a start). As well as being an author himself, he did the illustration on the cover of 'Venusian Lullaby'. Jim could put you in touch with Paul Hinder, if Jim's confirmation isn't verification enough.

All the best!

Whatever happened to DiSoRiEnTeD1?[[edit source]]

Hello!

I know you have bigger fish to fry at present, and I am also sorry to begin your new talk page on such a glum note, but — User:Najawin has just alerted me, on a talk page, to your recent blocking of User:DiSoRiEnTeD1 for sockpuppetry.

DiSoRiEnTeD1 and I agreed on few things, and a mere glance at his talk page will show that he was sometimes unruly or even disruptive. Nevertheless, I never had cause to ascribe any malice to him until today; he merely came across as rash and inexperienced. DiSoRiEnTeD1 had, a little while ago, come to believe there was some sort of admin conspiracy against hims, and User:OncomingStorm12th, User:SOTO and myself had agreed that it was best to give him strong warnings, but not block him, so as to prove him wrong on this point and show him we were not some cabal itching for an excuse to ban him.

He had scarcely shown his face (well, his default user avatar) since then, however. And if he has now left us so definitively… well, I think I and several other users (from OS12th to his frequent talk-page sparring partner User:Najawin) may be owed some closure on the subject of DiSoRiEnTeD1. Najawin, for example, had scruples on the talk page I mentioned earlier, because, for all that he often went overboard in defense of it, DiSoRiEnTeD1 was the main and most steadfast supports of positions opposite to Najawin's (or to mine) in many discussions. Which puts us all in the somewhat awkward position of "winning" by default, without the opposition getting to have a say at the conclusion.

So, after all that, and because your blocking-summary was rather vague (and you did not, or at least have not yet, posted a more fully written-out rationale on his talk page)… my question is just — what happened? What precisely did he do? When? Where?

To be clear, I am not asking for any kind of reduction to his ban, or questioning your decision; if he did indeed break T:SOCK, there is nothing more to be said on the matter in terms of his actual punishment.

…But as I led with, all these rather nebulous feelings of mine are nothing urgent, and I know you have other things on your plate. Get to this when it's convenient for you, and don't hurry yourself on my account! The UCP, home page and so on are clearly more pressing uses of your limited time. Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls[[edit source]]

Hello. I know you've been busy but this looks possibly important so I wanted to let you know. After seeing Category:Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls, I created the page with an explanation as to what it was, as there was some confusion. Chubby Potato 09:39, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Something odd[[edit source]]

I have been noticing a recent surge of either multiple IP users or one user with a fluctuating IP creating some truly bizarre spam pages consisting of pure nonsense and usually being horribly garbled copies of existing valid maintenance pages. Also exhibiting some similar behaviour and overlap of interests to some earlier vandals coming over here from some truly strange wiki apparently about old people of all things to insert ageist remarks into pages about Peter Capaldi and sexist one into pages about Jodie Whittaker. Yeah, I don't know either. NightmareofEden 12:52, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

Re: Master discussion[[edit source]]

Good to know. I did just make another post on the matter just before I received your message, so feel free to delete that. I would like to ask you politely to unlock the initial discussion though, as you did ask for ideas. Regards,

Re: Discussions use[[edit source]]

Right right, I see!

Well, honestly — I agree with you, on the usefulness of not holding policy-making threads in Discussions! It's just that your own quite detailed post seemed to me like a Forum post, and so I thought you had changed your mind about this. I have no particular wish that we do this now, so long as it is agreed that we do it later; I genuinely thought you were the one who wanted it handled in Discussions, there.

But thanks for the explanation, all the same! Scrooge MacDuck 22:02, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

Re: DWM[[edit source]]

Just saw your message at User talk:LegoK9: …what's going on, here? Since when do copyright-holders ring us up and ask us not to include an image on the Wiki? What about fair use and all that? So long as we are reproducing the images for a documentary purpose, there isn't supposed to be much they can say — is there?

To be clear I assume you have a good reason, but I'm wondering about what kind of a weird precedent this is setting, and how it should be applied in future. Scrooge MacDuck 19:38, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Well, yes — but here I can't see how we could possibly be talking about questions of privacy. These are not candid images of private individuals, found in a derelict corner of the web and unfairly signal-booted. These are images that are even now widely reproduced in Doctor Who Magazine. DWM is widely sold among Who fans — and more widely read, perhaps, than our own Wiki.
Furthermore they are not images of a real person, but publicity shots of the Doctor. If DWM asked us not to reproduce a particular publicity shot of Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, would we be forced to delete it to "protect Capaldi's privacy"? Scrooge MacDuck 23:06, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Hm. I suppose I see what you mean — and I certainly see the sense in maintaining good relations with DWM. I do have to question the wisdom of such a hard rule as "wishes of the copyright holder always trump fair use": what if Big Finish came out and asked us not to host any images of their covers at all, or something of the kind? I could see a publisher of DWU fiction making that kind of pronouncement, albeit not necessarily the Beeb themselves. I can't imagine we could comply with that kind of blanket ban, and still remain a halfway useful Wiki. If they threaten legal action that is another thing, but a mere wish should not paralyse a whole fandom so.
I am speaking in general terms, though. The point is well-taken that in this case we have other publicity shots of that Doctor, from that year, in that outfit. It is not at all essential that we retain this particular one on the Wiki, so we might as well keep DWM happy.
(For the record I have seen a comparable case on another Wiki on which I am an admin; but that case involved a picture of a real person, not a 50-year-old publicity shot of a character; and furthermore it was not a picture readily available to the whole of the fandom in a magazine.) Invite[[edit source]]

Incidentally, this is unrelated to the above matter, but I am still waiting on you for that Slack invite, unless you already sent it and my spam folder ate it up. (If you've misplaced my email address, it's still one of my most recent messages to you on Discord.) Scrooge MacDuck 23:57, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Millennia's blue hair[[edit source]]

I already made a forum post about this, but maybe this is better. Where did the information on Millennia's blue hair come from? It's been bugging many of us in the Deca fandom for quite some time. I see the edit on that was made in August of 2011, while the page itself was made in 2009. Many people have read through Divided Loyalties, even going as far as to specifically search for "blue hair," and have turned up empty. Was this just some fan thing that everyone agreed upon? Thank you! ~@starryeyedgazer June 6th, 2021

Manarchy ban[[edit source]]

Manarchy 01:29 July 7, 2021 (UTC)

(Heads'up, I've informed Manarchy of the inappropriateness of their VPN shenanigans. I'll leave making a judgment on the request itself to you, though.) Scrooge MacDuck 00:35, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

Overall Century layout + Century timeline template fix[[edit source]]

Hi, I'm sort of a lurker on this wiki, though I do currently own Eminem Wiki, so I have used the Wikitext language before, though I am certain there's a few things I'd need to learn. I've attempted to understand (and fix, though I haven't made any changes permanent) through the creation and usage of the template Template:TimelineRevised and (originally) Template:Order of Centuries (which should be deleted), with no success. I noticed that (ex. 1st century) the listed centuries are duplicated in the list (as the categories themselves as well as the pages for the individual centuries are listed).

Re: Some of your recent changes and proposals[[edit source]]

Hi, thanks for your detailed breakdown. There are a few things that I would like to rebut, protest and clarify. The stuff in Fandomdesktop.css was only ever intended to be temporary. It was just a collection of fixes to apply over the top of existing CSS. I had plans to write some better, more permanent CSS but this was impractical due to the fact that I can't edit these CSS pages and so had to use my off-wiki contact with Scrooge MacDuck and OncomingStorm12th to get the CSS implemented. Therefore, I deemed the method I used to be most ideal as it's better to have something that works, even if it's not perfect, then nothing at all.

The background was not added by me but rather SOTO. I believe the reason it was done through CSS was because it was more complex then a single image but I'm not entirely sure.

The issue with screenreaders is to do with collapsibles and I'm sorry to admit that I rolled out a set of templates into the theory namespace a few days ago. I'm not sure how you may want to proceed here.

Moreover, it's already used heavily in templates such as {{wales crew}} and {{Speedy rename}} so surely a few more wouldn't hurt. Also, the template being developed in that sandbox was not to automate prefixes but rather to add more detail to citations. This would be a massive burden to have to type manually.

Tooltips was a route I was considering a long time ago but I haven't been for a while now.

I hope that you are now feeling better on the medical front. Bongo50 (aka Bongolium500) 07:41, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

Something else that I've just remembered about my use of Fandomdesktop.css is that I wrote a lot of it when Oasis was still the primary skin and I didn't want anything I was writing for FandomDesktop to have side effects on Oasis. Bongo50 (aka Bongolium500) 07:50, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

Anonnotice error[[edit source]]

Hello, I'm glad you're back and I hope you're feeling better now. I know you're still fixing up the tech and visual stuff, but I just wanted to let you know that MediaWiki:Anonnotice was oddly displaying a portion of an infobox which I determined to be from Popidius Celsinus. I hadn't even been on that page. It only happens sometimes but it's very strange. Chubby Potato 05:02, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

Temporary forums[[edit source]]

Hey, hope you've been alright with the (gestures around toward the abstract) everything lately. This is actually a message from multiple admin (myself, user:OncomingStorm12th and user:Scrooge MacDuck), though it is me writing this. (Don't worry too much about it.)

So while you're been busy working on the new forums for the UCP, with the return to the actual Forum namespace no doubt around the corner, a number of users have suggested we set up temporary forums, so we can still get the essential discussions out of the way, in the meantime. We think this is a good idea. We've actually been developing a discussion at Tardis talk:Temporary forums, where others have chimed in (including user:Tangerineduel, who also thinks it's a good idea).

Creatures who hold Time in this universe together broken. Time is beginning to run wild. Could really harm the Tardis. So I made a short-term repair.

Basically, six slots would be open for new discussions (we actually have a list of priorities going). In the spirit of Doctor Who: Flux, rather like the Mouri in the Temple of Atropos, all forum discussion passes through these spaces (beyond the scope of talk pages). When one closes, its spot will be opened for another to take its place.

[[Tardis:Temporary forums]] would be the Hub, with

1. Links to these six spaces;
2: A list of future discussions ("Next Up", agreed to on the talk page);
3. An archive section (with table format, showing resolves/unresolved, and a quick summary of the closing remarks).

All in one place. This will help with moving things over to the Actual Forums. And there will be a strict time limit on these discussions: three weeks until closing time. When this time is up, if a discussion has not reached a conclusion, it'll be closed as unresolved (marked yellow in the table), and taken to the bottom of the list, to be revived later.

This is all to make sure we get the maximum gain (actual resolution) out of a small number of discussions at any one time (to ease the load, creating a smoother transition, with only a small number of pages to move over into the New Forums, later on)[1].

The thing is, we just wanted to make sure you weren't just about to hit that big friendly button before proceeding. No point in all this, after all, if there won't be time enough for round one before the next stage of forum evolution's upon us again. We were thinking about opening the temporary forums on the Sunday after next, around Doctor Who time[2] That'd be Sunday Jan 23rd, 19:30 UTC. Unless you think you'll have the Newest Forums up and running by then?

Happy New Year, by the way!
× SOTO (//) 21:19, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

  1. It will also make sure these will be non-trivial discussions for us to pass over. To be added to the list, a new proposal needs to meet two criteria: It must... 1: be actionable (within the three week time limit, it should be possible to hash out), 2: affect a large number of pages.
  2. Which is to say, around the time we'd start the page for a new episode of Doctor Who. Bottom of the hour, as you once explained to me.
Perfectly alright! I'm in no rush personally, but the community's been calling for things to move forward again. (Obviously, no extra steps would be better.) Glad to hear you're doing well. It's been a while.
× SOTO (//) 03:34, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
Late reply, but all good! Glad to see it's being worked on. We'll hold off for now if that's the case, don't worry.

Off-topic megathread for discussions[[edit source]]

GaganTopia 20:41, 24 February 2022 (UTC)

: Name a list of wikis I have been banned on and when I was banned on them. And my actions on other wikis should not impact how I am on this one, as I've done nothing wrong here, it's not fair, and I do make edits when I see pages to be edited. GaganTopia 19:47, 16 March 2022 (UTC)

Talk page number... things[[edit source]]

The number displayed on the talk page "thingy" on pages seems to be off currently - possible because of a recent Fandom update, so I thought you were the best person to ask. It seems to display "1" for a while after more messages have been added, which certainly throws me off, as I've used this number to confirm if I've received a response in the past. Do you have any clue what could have caused this? (2 screenshots are displayed below for illustrative purposes)

Another issue[[edit source]]

Navigation templates, or "navboxes", also have an issue - they're open by default & cannot be collapsed.

There is no legitimate reason to remove the image gallery from the Pilot Episode's article.[[edit source]]

I looked up the image rules, and there is no rule stating that only articles of valid stories can have image galleries. People will want to see the changes between the pilot and the broadcast. ApertureEmployee427 23:00, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

Personal information[[edit source]]

Hey, how have you been? User:Najawin recently alerted me over personal/potentially doxxing information being added to one of our pages recently by an anonymous user. Since then, I've protected the page so that only autoconfirmed users can edit it (which thankfully stopped the info being added again), but Najawin further contacted me pointing out that we should probably delete said revisions from the page (which I don't believe is something I am able to do.

Would you mind helping out on this? OncomingStorm12th 18:41, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

Just to note, for the technical bit of this getting done, the first edit to add potentially doxxing information was on 26 May 2022‎, and more information was added over time. Nobody noticed it aside from an IP user until this past September when I was checking some old conversations I had and links in them. I promptly removed the info, but someone then added it back. Clearing out the original May edit and all since then is probably the way to go. Najawin 06:07, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

Forums discussion[[edit source]]

Hey, I know you've been busy, but I wanted to let you know that in light of the two year anniversary of the forums being down a good deal of the active editors have been having a discussion over at Forum talk:Index. We'd love for you to read it over and join the conversation when you have the time. Najawin 20:06, 20 October 2022 (UTC)

Template:Wales crew updates[[edit source]]

Hi! Terribly sorry to bother you, but for about a year now I've been, I think, the main person filling in the "Wales crew" template for new episodes (starting with The Halloween Apocalypse, although the one for Revolution of the Daleks is also mostly my work), and I've been logging the new variables they need added over at Template talk:Wales crew.

I gather that User:SOTO has been basically in charge of the template for some time now, but after a very courteous initial reply I haven't received any more communication from them and the template appears unchanged – understandable as they're very busy! I also tried leaving a message on their talk page a few months ago, but no dice... which is why I'm here, as from the talk page it looks like you used to deal with that template.

Starkidsoph 23:45, 30 October 2022 (UTC)

User rights nomination[[edit source]]

Hi CzechOut, long time no chat! I'm sure you saw my nomination of Bongolium500 for adminship, but just want to do due diligence and let you know just in case. I'll also take the chance to thank you for your attention to Forum talk:Index – very much looking forward to the fresh start, and very appreciative of your stopping by to take us over the finish line despite the busy time of year :) – n8 () 18:54, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

Happy Thanksgiving! It's now been a little over one week since Bongo's nomination discussion began, so we'd be ready for you to weigh in. By the way, any update or new ETA for the forums? – n8 ()

Bongolium 500[[edit source]]

Hi Czechout I know I am in the wrong place however for some reason I am unable to comment on the user rights page but long story short i absolutely and wholeheartedly support bongolium 500 in becoming a admin, I know I haven't really contributed anything yet but this is because I am currently trying to learn the rules and how to include the source of my information but I will hopefully be contributing at some point as not only am I a huge doctor who fan but I sometimes work on doctor who as a stunt performer!!!, Anyway I support Bongolium 500 because as a newcomer to contributing on this wikia he is invaluable for the technical stuff in the form of creating new templates I plan to use his help with templates when I hopefully start contributing. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ser0slug (talk • contribs) .

Happy new year[[edit source]]

I Know 2023 isn't here yet, though as I'm near the last day til New Year's Eve, happy new year. User:Sum41Champ

Temporary Forums Are Live![[edit source]]

Hello!

Just wanted to notify you that, User:CzechOut's final deadline of "by New Year's Day" having passed, and following in-depth discussion between myself and fellow admins User:SOTO, User:OncomingStorm12th and User:Bongolium500, we have decided to activate Tardis:Temporary forums, come what may. A sitenotice has been set to inform the community of this development, and I am taking it upon myself to personally update our Administrators on the situation, as well as User:Spongebob456.

As the name implies, we hope the Temporary Forums will remain — well — temporary. Any work on reactivating proper DPL Forums will still be welcome and appreciated; this system is a further fine-tuning of the setup Bongolium500 had proposed in December 2021, which it means is designed from the ground up to be easy to transfer into the actual DPL Forums if we should get those back in the near future after all.

But it has been multiple years since the Wiki has had a venue for changing policy and forming community consensus on important matters. Bongolium500 and SOTO put forward the first draft of the Temporary Forums a full year ago — and were convinced to retract it by a promise that the real Forums would come ‘very soon’; and here we are. The Tardis community are owed a different approach.

We four elementals behind the Temporary Forums would like to reassure the rest of the admin team that this necessary step is not intended to create more work for them unbidden. Four are, if it comes to that, plenty enough to keep the peace a Forum with no more than six threads running at a time; we would be thrilled to see the rest of the team embracing the Temporary Forums, but please don't feel any obligation to do so.

Happy New Year, happy editing — and happy contribution to the New Forums!

Scrooge MacDuck 11:01, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

Re: Forums[[edit source]]

Hi. I've accepted your friend request. Having the Forum namespace back in action is certainly going to be very helpful. Bongo50 05:45, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

Heads up about the thanks extension[[edit source]]

Hi. I just wanted to give you a heads up that Tardis is testing the "thanks" extension which Fandom will be rolling out to all wikis soon. This extension allows editors to thank other editors for their edits. The editor being thanked will then recieve a notification. Therefore, while you're actively performing edits, you may receieve a few more notifications than normal. If you notice any bugs, pass them onto User:Spongebob456. Bongo50 19:56, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

Why don't you use your bot anymore?[[edit source]]

It hasn't made any edits since september 2020. Sliderhostmimic 18:12, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

Request to correct a mistake[[edit source]]

Hi CzechOut I am fairly new to contributing to this fandom but I contribute to another regularly, anyway I have accidentally linked to a category that doesn't exist, I intended to link to the category UNIT United Kingdom however I have accidentally confused myself and created UNIT UK, please can you try and rectify my mistake on my behalf as I know I can't do it without being a admin (I'm a admin on another fandom, so I have inside knowledge of being a admin)

'Which Way Out?' short story[[edit source]]

Hello, I have been looking for a certain Doctor Who story for a long time. I mean 'Which Way Out?' from TV Comic Holiday Special 1976. It's hard to find any information about this story, but I did find that you wrote an article about it on the TARDIS Wiki, so I assume you've read it. I was wondering if you might still have access to this story? I will be very grateful for your answer.
