== Whatever happened to DiSoRiEnTeD1? ==
Hi, since you were the one that closed the novelisation thread I thought I'd ask you. Now that novelisations and TV stories have been given equal weight would, for example [[PROSE]]: ''[[Doctor Who and the Mutants (novelisation)|Doctor Who and the Mutants]]'' need to appear in the infobox of [[Ky]] or would it just be understood that unless mentioned a character appeared in the novelisation as well? Thanks. --[[User:Borisashton|Borisashton]] [[User talk:Borisashton|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 21:25, April 16, 2018 (UTC)

==Pearl Mackie meta description==
Hello!
The TARDIS Data Core page about [[Pearl Mackie]] was vandalised for about five minutes back in February and, somehow, the vandalised version of the page is now stuck in the page's meta description. For reference, google "pearl mackie" yourself, look at the page's source code, or see [https://imgur.com/a/IcuEHak these screencaps of when I did both of those things myself.] If this is something I could edit myself, I don't see where. In the meantime, this is a bad look for a wiki as big as this one. --[[User:AeD|AeD]] [[User talk:AeD|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 19:08, May 8, 2018 (UTC)

== Category page numbers ==
Hi again. I noticed that recently categories with multiple pages now have the option to go to the "previous 200" or "next 200" instead of links to the different pages e.g. 1, 2, 3. As I am currently working on the project of image categorisation it is incredibly annoying to click on an image and then go back to page 1 especially with mega categories like [[:Category:Screenshots|Screenshots]]. Am I doing something wrong and is there a way to reverse it? Thanks. --[[User:Borisashton|Borisashton]] [[User talk:Borisashton|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 17:26, May 18, 2018 (UTC)

== Infobox Story ==
Hi. I recently filled the "reprint" variable in the infobox of ''[[The Lost Dimension (comic story)|The Lost Dimension]]'' and noticed that the variable doesn't automatically remove the dab term, nor does it italicises the title of the graphic novel. Is this how it's meant to be, or is it a part of the code that needs upgrading? [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 21:22, May 31, 2018 (UTC)
:Oooh, my mistake ;) thanks for the info on the traded/reprinted stuff. I've now moved the graphic novels of ''The Lost Dimension'' to the appropriate variable. As for Titan reprinting IDW stuff, it ''did'' happen: a few Tenth and Eleventh Doctor comics, under the ''[[The Tenth Doctor Archives]]'' and ''[[The Eleventh Doctor Archives]]'' banners. ==Article Headlines==
Hi, I'm sorry about the headline issue. Being autistic, I happen to have an automatic need for overarching consistency across these forms of platforms. I'll stop and or correct my errors if this is what you wish, but I've half a mind to give up on what I'm doing on this wiki as it seems I can cause nothing but errors and I'm getting incredibly sick of doing things wrong while I'm trying to make improvements. This is ''not'' a slight on the wiki's admin in any way; you guys are just doing your job. I'm just an insecure contributer with good intentions but ideas clearly above his station.

That you for being understanding about it. I'm just really passionate about this community and I love to do my best to contribute. And I'm going back over and correcting my mistakes now, changing them back to how I found them before. Thank you for your time.

Hi. Just to be sure about the recent changes in [[Tardis:Spoiler policy]]: it's now okay to add images and videos (of course, videos uploaded by admins) into series pages? So, for example, a cover added on [[Series 4 (BFTW)]] (which isn't finished yet would be okay?). Also, would it be okay to add a frame of the 2018 version of the [[Doctor Who logo]] to [[Series 11 (Doctor Who)]] (the one now used on merchandise)?

Just asking to be sure, before starting to upload such images. [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 23:13, July 19, 2018 (UTC)

== Parentheses in titles ==
DiSoRiEnTeD1 and I agreed on few things, and a mere glance at his talk page will show that he was sometimes unruly or even disruptive. Nevertheless, I never had cause to ascribe any malice to him until today; he merely came across as rash and inexperienced. DiSoRiEnTeD1 had, a little while ago, come to believe there was some sort of admin conspiracy against hims, and [[User:OncomingStorm12th]], [[User:SOTO]] and myself had agreed that it was best to give him strong warnings, but ''not'' block him, so as to prove him wrong on this point and show him we were not some cabal itching for an excuse to ban him.
For some reason I had the false impression that the pipe trick didn't work for pages like [[The (Doctor) Who (TV story)|The]]! Thanks for the explanation! – [[User:NateBumber|N8]] [[User_talk:NateBumber|]] 15:32, July 23, 2018 (UTC)
He had scarcely shown his face (well, his default user avatar) since then, however. And if he has now left us so definitively… well, I think I and several other users (from OS12th to his frequent talk-page sparring partner [[User:Najawin]]) may be owed some closure on the subject of DiSoRiEnTeD1. Najawin, for example, had scruples on [[Talk:List of recurring Doctor Who concepts not owned by the BBC#Original Mammoths|the talk page I mentioned earlier]], because, for all that he often went overboard in defense of it, DiSoRiEnTeD1 was the main and most steadfast supports of positions ''opposite'' to Najawin's (or to mine) in many discussions. Which puts us all in the somewhat awkward position of "winning" by default, without the opposition getting to have a say at the conclusion.
::Ooh, I see. Thanks for the clarification. [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 23:26, July 23, 2018 (UTC)

== News ==
So, after all that, and because your blocking-summary was rather vague (and you did not, or at least have not yet, posted a more fully written-out rationale on his talk page)… my question is just — what ''happened''? What precisely did he do? When? Where?
No not Series 11 news. I've added it to "[[Howling:The Howling|The Howling]]" for you to decide what to do with it. :) --[[User:Danniesen|DCLM]] [[User talk:Danniesen|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 14:02, July 23, 2018 (UTC)

To be clear, I am not asking for any kind of reduction to his ban, or ''questioning'' your decision; if he did indeed break [[T:SOCK]], there is nothing more to be said on the matter in terms of his actual punishment. My questions are just that — curiosity. And perhaps a hint of sadness that it came to this, after all the tiresome drama and the accusations and the reassurances. DiSoRiEnTeD1, at least until this sockpuppetry business, was never a troll, and is owed, perhaps, a little respect as he goes.

I am from One Piece Encyclopédie (One Piece’s french Wiki). Some users and I share doubts regarding Mihawk Moha’s integrity, and significance he gives to his role as a Bureaucrat. For these reasons, we decided to investigate and check his activities. We noticed that you moderated this topic http://fr.onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/Fil:412441#364, for the following motive: Author’s rights (peoples posted links of One Piece’s translation). Mihawk Moha actually admited it (http://fr.onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/Fil:413724#191). Whereafter, the staff had removed the link, as the Bureaucrat told you; but only in the first message of every new topic.
== Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls ==

Most of users didn't know about the rule, nobody told them afterwards (even if it is, indeed, pretty obvious). Moreover, Mihawk Moha and others kept publishing those kinds of links, every week.
Hello. I know you've been busy but this looks possibly important so I wanted to let you know. After seeing [[:Category:Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls]], I created the page with an explanation as to what it was, as there was some confusion. When the edit completed a big message appeared about "change propagation" and the "job queue". I don't know enough about the code of MediaWiki to know what this really means, or if it will affect anything, but seeing as it appears important and you control the technical aspects of the wiki, I thought you should know. I hope it didn't mess up anything... [[User:Chubby Potato|Chubby Potato]] [[User talk:Chubby Potato|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 09:39, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for your time!
I have been noticing a recent surge of either multiple IP users or one user with a fluctuating IP creating some truly bizarre spam pages consisting of pure nonsense and usually being horribly garbled copies of existing valid maintenance pages. Also exhibiting some similar behaviour and overlap of interests to some earlier vandals coming over here from some truly strange wiki apparently about old people of all things to insert ageist remarks into pages about Peter Capaldi and sexist one into pages about Jodie Whittaker. I know that there've probably been discussions about this and I'm guessing there's a good reason for it; this is just to satiate my curiosity. I was just wondering why articles pertaining to species like the Daleks and Cybermen are titled after a singular member of the race rather than the collective race, such as naming the Cybermen's page 'Cyberman' as opposed to 'Cybermen' or the Daleks' page 'Dalek' instead of 'Daleks'. I'm sure the admin have their reasons; it's just one of my little queries for clarity. Thank you. :-)

Well, honestly — I agree with you, on the usefulness of ''not'' holding policy-making threads in Discussions! It's just that ''your own'' quite detailed post seemed to me like a Forum post, and so I thought ''you'' had changed your mind about this. I have no particular ''wish'' that we do this now, so long as it is agreed that we do it later; I genuinely thought ''you'' were the one who wanted it handled in Discussions, there.

Hello, could you please add the comic/episode infoboxes from here, also on the doctor who fanon wiki, please? {{unsigned|KimPossibleFan12345}}
Just saw your message at [[User talk:LegoK9]]: …what's going on, here? Since when do copyright-holders ring us up and ask us not to include an image on the Wiki? What about fair use and all that? So long as we are reproducing the images for a documentary purpose, there isn't supposed to be much they can say — is there?

== RE: Leads of TV stories ==
To be clear I assume you have a good reason, but I'm wondering about what kind of a weird precedent this is setting, and how it should be applied in future. [[User:Scrooge MacDuck|Scrooge MacDuck]] [[User talk:Scrooge MacDuck|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 19:38, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Hey there! Yeah, it's all good. Saw what you said and, realising pretty every article I have read follows that structure, I figured I should go about fixing it. I'll be sure to check out the ideal introduction article you linked to so I can go back later on and, where needed, improve the articles in detail. As a faithful editor, I shall now continue my endeavor to get it done.
:Well, yes — but here I can't see how we could possibly be talking about questions of ''privacy''. These are not candid images of private individuals, found in a derelict corner of the web and unfairly signal-booted. These are images that are even now widely reproduced in ''[[Doctor Who Magazine]]''. DWM is widely sold among ''Who'' fans — and more widely read, perhaps, than our own Wiki.

Thank you for pointing the issue out for me. [[User:Snivystorm|<font face="Georgia"><font color="#1E90FF">''Snivy''</font></font>]]<font face="Arial"><font color="dodgerblue">  </font> [[User talk:Snivystorm|<small style="border-style: initial; border-color: initial; "><font face="Cambria"><font color="Grey">✦ ''The coolest Pokemon ever'' ✦</font></font></small>]]</font> 13:04, October 8, 2018 (UTC)
:Furthermore they are not images of a real person, but publicity shots of [[the Doctor (The Brain of Morbius)|the Doctor]]. If DWM asked us not to reproduce a particular publicity shot of [[Peter Capaldi]] as the [[Twelfth Doctor]], would we be forced to delete it to "protect Capaldi's privacy"? [[User:Scrooge MacDuck|Scrooge MacDuck]] [[User talk:Scrooge MacDuck|<span title="Talk to me"></span>]] 23:06, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
::Hm. I suppose I see what you mean — and I certainly see the sense in maintaining good relations with DWM. I do have to question the wisdom of such a hard rule as "wishes of the copyright holder ''always'' trump fair use": what if Big Finish came out and asked us not to host ''any'' images of their covers at ''all'', or something of the kind? I could see a publisher of DWU fiction making that kind of pronouncement, albeit not necessarily the Beeb themselves. I can't imagine we could comply with that kind of blanket ban, and still remain a halfway useful Wiki. If they threaten legal action that is another thing, but a mere ''wish'' should not paralyse a whole fandom so.

== Promoting DWA on TDC ==
::I am speaking in general terms, though. The point is well-taken that in this case we have other publicity shots of that Doctor, from that year, in that outfit. It is not at all essential that we retain this particular one on the Wiki, so we might as well keep DWM happy.
Hey CzechOut!

I see the thread I created last week promoting DWA on the [[Board:United Nations Intelligence Taskforce|UNIT board]] got deleted. I know that in the past we've had permission to do so on the understanding that it's up to the discretion of the admins here ([[w:c:doctorwho.answers:User_talk:CzechOut#Advertising_DWA_in_TDC_forums|1]] [[w:c:doctorwho.answers:User_talk:Imamadmad/Archive_5#Forums|2]]). Is there any way we can promote DWA on TDC that we can get you guys' approval for? I've been trying to make DWA more user friendly (renewed de-blue-ed design, Read Next section, maintenance buttons) plus the new series airing now makes me want to try and bring more people in now and build a bigger community.
::(For the record I ''have'' seen a comparable case on another Wiki on which I am an admin; but that case involved a picture of a real person, not a 50-year-old publicity shot of a ''character''; and furthermore it was not a picture readily available to the whole of the fandom in a magazine.) I already made a forum post about this, but maybe this is better. Where did the information on Millennia's blue hair come from? It's been bugging many of us in the Deca fandom for quite some time. I see the edit on that was made in August of 2011, while the page itself was made in 2009. Many people have read through Divided Loyalties, even going as far as to specifically search for "blue hair," and have turned up empty. Was this just some fan thing that everyone agreed upon? Hi, I'm sort of a lurker on this wiki, though I do currently own [https://eminem.fandom.com/wiki/User:Kris_tha_6%277%22 Eminem Wiki], so I have used the Wikitext language before, though I am certain there's a few things I'd need to learn. I've attempted to understand (and fix, though I haven't made any changes permanent) through the creation and usage of the template [[Template:TimelineRevised]] and (originally) [[Template:Order of Centuries]] (which should be deleted), with no success. I noticed that (ex. [[1st century]]) the listed centuries are duplicated in the list (as the categories themselves as well as the pages for the individual centuries are listed).

== Re: Regenerating the Site ==
== Re: Some of your recent changes and proposals ==

I know that the plan was to open up that announcement for discussion after the ghost monument aired. It's been several weeks since and there are issues with the site bordering on unusable.
Hi, thanks for your detailed breakdown. There are a few things that I would like to rebut, protest and clarify. The stuff in [[MediaWiki:Fandomdesktop.css|Fandomdesktop.css]] was only ever intended to be temporary. It was just a collection of fixes to apply over the top of existing CSS. I had plans to write some better, more permanent CSS but this was impractical due to the fact that I can't edit these CSS pages and so had to use my off-wiki contact with [[User:Scrooge MacDuck|Scrooge MacDuck]] and [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] to get the CSS implemented. Therefore, I deemed the method I used to be most ideal as it's better to have something that works, even if it's not perfect, then nothing at all.

Any chance of it being opened up so they can be addressed?
The background was not added by me but rather [[User:SOTO|SOTO]]. I believe the reason it was done through CSS was because it was more complex then a single image but I'm not entirely sure.

Thanks,
The issue with screenreaders is to do with collapsibles and I'm sorry to admit that I rolled out a [[Template:SourceFilter|set of templates]] into the theory namespace a few days ago. I'm not sure how you may want to proceed here.

My understanding of SMW was that, if a wiki has it enabled, it is fine for that wiki to use it. Certainly, I've spoken a fair bit with users on the Fandom Discord server about it and I was never told not to use it. While I do prefer Cargo, SMW is very useful and I feel it should be used to it's fullest potential. Moreover, it's already used heavily in templates such as {{tlx|wales crew}} and {{tlx|Speedy rename}} so surely a few more wouldn't hurt. Also, the template being developed in that sandbox was not to automate prefixes but rather to add more detail to citations. This would be a massive burden to have to type manually.

Tooltips was a route I was considering a long time ago but I haven't been for a while now.
Hi! Not sure if you're aware but I'm now getting the image of the young Jack as the representative image if I go on categories. I know you adjusted the infobox image last year specifically to beat this image so I thought I'd let you know. --[[User:Borisashton|Borisashton]] [[User talk:Borisashton|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 20:54, December 21, 2018 (UTC)

The whole first episode of the Monoids has only talk of "Refusis" - not once is it "Refusis II", even though that is where the settlers land in the end. Killing the redirect is unnecessarily cumbersome for anyone who - like me now with #DoctorWhoOnTwitch - watches the Classics and checks the mentioned planet - which is Refusis, not Refusis II, in episode one. --[[User:IrasCignavojo|IrasCignavojo]] [[User talk:IrasCignavojo|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 11:03, January 8, 2019 (UTC)

Hello, I'm glad you're back and I hope you're feeling better now. I know you're still fixing up the tech and visual stuff, but I just wanted to let you know that [[MediaWiki:Anonnotice]] was oddly displaying a portion of an infobox which I determined to be from [[Popidius Celsinus]]. [[User:Chubby Potato|Chubby Potato]] [[User talk:Chubby Potato|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 05:02, 7 November 2021 (UTC)
Hi,

Don't know where else to leave this, nor how to private message, so I'll just leave this here:
== Temporary forums ==
I joined today with the intent of participating in thoughtful discussion in order to be able to provide meaningful edits to a wikia I've enjoyed for quite a while.
Hey, hope you've been alright with the (gestures around toward the abstract) ''[[COVID-19|everything]]'' lately. This is actually a message from multiple admin (myself, [[user:OncomingStorm12th]] and [[user:Scrooge MacDuck]]), though it is me writing this. (Don't worry too much about it.)

However, I was instantly met with some incredibly condescending attitude from your admin "Amorkuz", as can be seen in the "Pronoun Use for Time Lords" thread on The Panopticon boards.  I fully accept that I was probably wrong about some things and did/do not fully comphrened the wikia policies and the general way things work here (and out of frustration I definetly crossed a line in one of my replies). But, the way this admin acts is no way to welcome new contributors nor guide them on their way into becoming productive members of the community. It doesn't help that in the thread he shows sever lack in reading comprehension, making his behaviour even more of an embarrassment.
So while you're been busy working on the new forums for the UCP, with the return to the actual Forum namespace no doubt around the corner, a number of users have suggested we set up [[Tardis talk:Temporary forums|temporary forums]], so we can still get the ''essential'' discussions out of the way, in the meantime. We think this is a good idea. We've actually been developing a discussion at [[Tardis talk:Temporary forums]], where others have chimed in (including [[user:Tangerineduel]], who ''also'' thinks it's a good idea).

Thanks to this toxic behaviour I will be leaving today, only several hours after joining in the first place. Just thought you should know how your fellow admins act, and what kind of message this sends to new people.
{{first pic|Mouri.jpg|Creatures who [[Tardis:Who writes policy|hold Time in this universe together]] broken. Time is beginning to run wild. Could really harm the [[Doctor Who Wiki|Tardis]]. So I made a short-term repair.}}
Basically, six slots would be open for new discussions (we actually have a list of priorities going). In the spirit of ''[[Doctor Who: Flux]]'', rather like the [[Mouri]] in the [[Temple of Atropos]], all forum discussion passes through these spaces (beyond the scope of talk pages). When one closes, its spot will be opened for another to take its place.

Kind regards,
<code><nowiki>[[Tardis:Temporary forums]]</nowiki></code> would be the Hub, with

--[[User:DW114|DW114]] [[User talk:DW114|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 13:37, January 9, 2019 (UTC)
:1. Links to these six spaces;
:2: A list of future discussions ("Next Up", agreed to on the talk page);
:3. An archive section (with table format, showing resolves/unresolved, and a quick summary of the closing remarks).
All in one place. This will help with moving things over to the Actual Forums. And there will be a strict time limit on these discussions: three weeks until [[Closing Time (TV story)|closing time]]. When this time is up, if a discussion has not reached a conclusion, it'll be closed as unresolved (marked yellow in the table), and taken to the bottom of the list, to be revived later.

== Birth/death dates ==
This is all to make sure we get the maximum gain (actual resolution) out of a small number of discussions at any one time (to ease the load, creating a smoother transition, with only a small number of pages to move over into the New Forums, later on)<ref>It will also make sure these will be '''non-trivial discussions''' for us to pass over. To be added to the list, a new proposal needs to meet two criteria: It must... '''1''': be actionable (within the three week time limit, it should be ''possible'' to hash out), '''2''': affect a large number of pages.</ref>.
So, I've been wanting to cleanup birth/death dates for a while. Cleaning up pages like [[1966 (people)]] and [[11 February (people)]] (plus all other year/day pages is "easy" enough to do by hand, however long that might take. All I'd need to do is go to the crewmember page and see if there's a source or not. If there is, the information stays, if there isn't, the information goes).

In a perfect scenario, doing this to all (people) pages would mean the job was done, but the following scenario is probably true to some pages: the crewmember page has an unsourced date (like [https://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/John_Lucarotti_(writer)?oldid=1678650 John Lucarotti] once had) but that information is ''not'' present on any of the birth/death pages. Unsourced information like this would go "under my radar".
The thing is, we just wanted to make sure you weren't ''just'' about to hit that [[magno-grab remote|big friendly button]] before proceeding. No point in all this, after all, if there won't be time enough for round one before the next stage of forum evolution's upon us again. We were thinking about opening the temporary forums on the Sunday after next, around ''Doctor Who'' time<ref>Which is to say, around the time we'd start the page for a [[Series 13 (Doctor Who 2005)|new episode]] of ''[[Doctor Who]]''. Bottom of the hour, as you once explained to me.</ref> That'd be Sunday Jan 23rd, 19:30 UTC. Unless you think you'll have the Newest Forums up and running by then?

So, after all that, my question is: is there a way for [[User:CzechBot]] to "find" such pages? I was thinking in the lines of "if [page X] links to any page with the dab term (people) and has no <nowiki> <ref> </ref> </nowiki> tags on int, then "flag" it" (to "flag" it could be to save it in a list, or whatever). I'm not 100% sure how bots work, so I don't know exactly what could be done. Anyway, sorry for the long post. :Hmm, I see. I wasn't so sure there'd be a way for a bot to do what I had in mind ('''very''' specific request, indeed) but your dpl suggestion is quite a good start.
:About checking sources, it's a very good point, and something a could certainly do, but a job easier done after all sources (good and bad) are compiled in the years' pages. I'll probably begin the job on the next few days. Thanks for helping. ::Hey there....I hadn't been able to get on the discussions page of the wiki for a while and now that I can, I am not able to respond to conversations. Wondering if I've been blocked again or if there's something wrong.

::thanks User:Mister_Fifty
So I’ve seen a few wikis with off-topic megathreads (Jurassic Park wiki being one example, with the “Chaos Zone”), which are basically discussions threads where users can post whatever they want that is not related to the subject of the wiki (in this case, posts unrelated to Doctor Who) in the replies to that thread. We could put it in the FANDOM posts category, so it’s easier to find, and we can tell users about it whenever a discussion is or goes off-topic. Maybe we could call it “The Void” too, as it is technically outside of “the universe of the wiki”, as the void was outside the universe of Doctor Who. What do you think about this idea? == Wiki Manager ==
== Template:Wales crew updates ==

Hi! It’s [[User:Playsonic2|Playsonic2]] here, and today, rather than being on Spanish wiki business, I’m here to report I will be the Fandom Wiki Manager for the TARDIS Data Core.
Hi! Terribly sorry to bother you, but for about a year now I've been, I think, the main person filling in the "Wales crew" template for new episodes (starting with ''[[The Halloween Apocalypse (TV story)|The Halloween Apocalypse]]'', although the one for ''[[Revolution of the Daleks (TV story)|Revolution of the Daleks]]'' is also mostly my work), and I've been logging the new variables they need added over at [[Template talk:Wales crew]].

I am available to help the community with any questions or issues and be a liaison to full-time Fandom staff. I know this wiki in particular is well taken care of in that regard, but should a Wiki Manager be needed, I will be here, available on my talk page.
I gather that [[User:SOTO]] has been basically in charge of the template for some time now, but after a very courteous initial reply I haven't received any more communication from them and the template appears unchanged – understandable as they're very busy! I also tried leaving a message on their talk page a few months ago, but no dice... which is why I'm here, as from the talk page it looks like you used to deal with that template.

See you! ~[[User:Playsonic2|Playsonic2]] 08:59, May 20, 2019 (UTC)
I wonder if you might be willing to put me in touch with SOTO, take a look at it yourself, or point me in the direction of someone else who could help? If it's an option, I would love to be able to edit the template myself instead of endlessly bothering busy admins. Again, I'm very sorry to contact you out of the blue about something you used to maintain ten years ago! Hi, I need your help with a couple of things.
Hi Czechout
I know I am in the wrong place however for some reason I am unable to comment on the user rights page but long story short i absolutely and wholeheartedly support bongolium 500 in becoming a admin, I know I haven't really contributed anything yet but this is because I am currently trying to learn the rules and how to include the source of my information but I will hopefully be contributing at some point as not only am I a huge doctor who fan but I sometimes work on doctor who as a stunt performer!!!, Anyway I support Bongolium 500 because as a newcomer to contributing on this wikia he is invaluable for the technical stuff in the form of creating new templates I plan to use his help with templates when I hopefully start contributing. {{Unsigned|Ser0slug}}

A few days ago, a user moved [[TARDIS]], [[Talk:TARDIS|the talk page]], and one of the archives. I moved the first two pages back, but when I tried to move the archive page back to [[Talk:TARDIS/Archive 1]], it didn't work. I assume there's some trick or other when it comes to moving archive pages, but after several tries I couldn't figure it out.
== Happy new year ==

Also, [[Thread:197794]] needs your attention. After a long discussion by several editors on separating the POT stories, you entered the thread to oppose what they were proposing. However, even though the thread was never closed, actions were taken to separate the stories. Whichever way the issue should be resolved, it needs to be done because for now we have editing against policy when a thread hasn't been closed.

While some stuff I was able to "learn" from "copy-paste-adapt", some of it I just couldn't get right so far. ==Deleted threads==
…look, you obviously must have sensible reasons for having deleted the inclusion debate, but might I ask why you're deleting the thread about asking where it's gone? I struggle to imagine why that would be necessary. It was a perfectly civil thread consisting of someone asking a question (and one I'm sure I won't be the only one asking), and other people kindly answering; if deleting the main thread was destroying Gallifrey to end the Time War <small>(apologies if your reasoning is so different from what I'm assuming that this is a completely inaccurate metaphor)</small>, this seems more like the Doctor making everyone forget he was ever John Hurt, and it goes without saying that while there are good arguments for the former, the latter is going to require more explaining.

I don't mean this in an accusatory fashion; you doubtless know what you're doing. But we don't, know what you're doing, that is, and we would very much like to know, because I am utterly confused and more than a little dismayed.

(In the fear that any mention of the whole… thing… is what you have for as-yet-mysterious reasons decided to delete <small>(as the similar Señor 105 deletion years ago, of which I heard tell while browsing the Matrix Archives, is my closest point of reference for this)</smalL>, note that I have strategically avoided stating the name of the stories the thread was about or their author. Am I on the right track…? --[[User:Scrooge MacDuck|Scrooge MacDuck]] [[User talk:Scrooge MacDuck|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 21:37, September 12, 2019 (UTC)

:Thanks for the reply (and for typing the explanation thread so quickly!), but while I now fully understand, and commend, the reasoning behind the deletion of the original thread, I still don't see what warranted the deletion of my thread asking where the original thread had gone — being that it just contained three or four shirt messages at time of deletion, none of which said anything about anyone's RL identity. So might I further impose on your explanatory goodwill…? --[[User:Scrooge MacDuck|Scrooge MacDuck]] [[User talk:Scrooge MacDuck|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 18:06, September 13, 2019 (UTC)

Hi, as the Tales from the TARDIS forum threads are meant for announcements only and not discussion I thought I'd post this question here. I just wanted to clarify whether you meant that the new 10K Dawns thread not to be started for a few weeks is going to build on or begin anew the debate. I fear it's the latter since the original debate will no longer be available to normal editors. Whilst there was some unpleasantness in that thread ''a lot'' was covered so I hope we won't have to retread the same steps. ::Sorry for barging in, but if I may add another detail on the question: should (or, in fact ''could'') images from anthology covers be used to illustrate in-universe articles. For example, ''[[Tales from New Earth (audio anthology)]]'' has no covers for each story. Could we use [[:File:Tales from New Earth.jpg]] to illustate [[Devon Pryce]]'s page? == Erimem ==

While I agree with the general principle that covers are useful sometimes but a last resort, I don't really see your point regarding Erimem and Morris. From what I can see, some DWM illustrations ''do'' in fact depict Erimem with facial features like Morris's, just with darker skin than Morris has in real life. And, indeed, the example given in the BTS section of a cover image of Catherine Morris as Erimem has such muted, unnatural colors that one really can't tell with any kind of certainty whether her skin is pale or dark.

I think a more obviously-supported-by-sources example might be the ''First Doctor Adventures'' covers where they use [[David Bradley]] for the [[First Doctor]] eve though ''[[Twice Upon a Time (TV story)|Twice Upon a Time]]'' makes it clear that unlike Hurndall, we're not supposed to overlook the fact that One suddenly looks different: his face ''has'' actually blurred a little bit due to his starting regeneration, taking on a couple of Troughtonesque features that make him look like Bradley. --[[User:Scrooge MacDuck|Scrooge MacDuck]] [[User talk:Scrooge MacDuck|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 09:13, October 18, 2019 (UTC)

==Removing admin rights==
This hasn't actually come up before, I don't think ever since I've been admin on this wiki, and I'd like a second view point on this. It's all escalated rather quickly, so I'm inclined not to do anything while everyone cools down a little bit. ==Stuff about the Memeovore==
Hi CzechOut,
As of lately I've been heavily contributing to VS debating wikis, where users write battles between fictional characters and base the outcome on who they personally think would win. When doing a google on what characters could stand a chance against Bernkastel (''Umineko'') I came across a board suggesting the Memeovore from Doctor Who.
From what I read, the character seems very interesting to use, but its nature is pretty confusing to me, as are the descriptions on the wikis. I'm not too big on Doctor Who, but I remembered you're a big fan of it, so I thought you could help me give an idea of what the Memeovore does and how to accurately portray it.
As far as I know, the Memeovore seems to consume definitions and concepts and can send chunks of its "body" through space-time. I also read it can be sealed (It started out trapped in a timeloop if I'm not mistaken), and that the 8th Doctor took care of it by tricking it into being in one chunk of a universe, then snipping that chunk out and whisking it into a void (Please correct me if I'm wrong)?
That's all I (think I) know about the Memeovore, and I'm not really sure if that's correct. If you wouldn't mind, could you give me a rundown of the Memeovore? As in, what powers it has, how it functions, what its weaknesses are, and how I could accurately portray it? Would be highly appreciated, thanks in advance!

== Picture issue ==
Just wanted to notify you that, [[User:CzechOut]]'s final deadline of "by New Year's Day" having passed, and following in-depth discussion between myself and fellow admins [[User:SOTO]], [[User:OncomingStorm12th]] and [[User:Bongolium500]], we have decided to '''activate [[Tardis:Temporary forums]]''', come what may. A [[MediaWiki:Sitenotice|sitenotice]] has been set to inform the community of this development, and I am taking it upon myself to personally update [[Tardis:Administrators|our Administrators]] on the situation, as well as [[User:Spongebob456]].

Hello there,
As the name implies, we hope the Temporary Forums will remain — well — temporary. Any work on reactivating proper DPL Forums will still be welcome and appreciated; this system is a further fine-tuning of the setup Bongolium500 had proposed in December 2021, which it means is designed from the ground up to be '''easy to transfer into the actual DPL Forums''' if we should get those back in the near future after all.

Re: the most recent conversation I've been having with Shambala, the Welsh Wiki no longer allows users (including myself, the admin), to upload pictures. There's an error message that shows. I was wondering whether you could take a peek into it if you get five minutes?
But it has been ''multiple years'' since the Wiki has had a venue for changing policy and forming community consensus on important matters. Bongolium500 and SOTO put forward the first draft of the Temporary Forums a full ''year'' ago — and were convinced to retract it by a promise that the real Forums would come ‘very soon’; and here we are. I don't think anyone's at fault, least of all you; it is clear that you've had the Wiki's best interests at heart all through this. But the fact is thatthe time has come to realise that this overly-optimistic strategy of endlessly putting off an imperfect temporary solution in pursuit of a perfect one "soon"… has failed, resoundingly. It is time for a different approach. The Tardis community are ''owed'' a different approach.

Secondly - and very much least important, would it be possible to sync the aesthetics of the Wikis so that the Welsh Wiki matches the blue and gold theme that you guys currently rock over here? I'd love there to be uniformity. As I say, it's not important so feel free to ignore it.
We [[four surviving elementals|four elementals]] behind the Temporary Forums would like to reassure the rest of the admin team that this necessary step '''is not intended to create more work for them unbidden'''. Four are, if it comes to that, plenty enough to keep the peace a Forum with no more than six threads running at a time; we would be thrilled to see the rest of the team embracing the Temporary Forums, but please don't feel any ''obligation'' to do so.

Thanks a lot,
Happy New Year, happy editing — and happy contribution to the New Forums!

Hi there! A discussion has broken out at [[Thread:274134]] and already has more than 80 posts in less than a day. It mostly concerns the devising of a system for how the wiki could constitute ambiguous companions. I used your closing post from [[Forum:Disputed Companions]] ("Closing as unresolved, because these companion discussions '''never''' get clear closure") to outline my reasoning for why there can be no general rule for this and that it should be decided largely on a case-by-case basis, and hence the thread should be closed immediately. Hello, I have been looking for a certain Doctor Who story for a long time. I mean 'Which Way Out?' from TV Comic Holiday Special 1976. It's hard to find any information about this story, but I did find that you wrote an article about it on the TARDIS Wiki, so I assume you've read it. I was wondering if you might still have access to this story? I will be very grateful for your answer.

Whatever happened to DiSoRiEnTeD1?[[edit source]]

Hello!

I know you have bigger fish to fry at present, and I am also sorry to begin your new talk page on such a glum note, but — User:Najawin has just alerted me, on a talk page, to your recent blocking of User:DiSoRiEnTeD1 for sockpuppetry.

DiSoRiEnTeD1 and I agreed on few things, and a mere glance at his talk page will show that he was sometimes unruly or even disruptive. Nevertheless, I never had cause to ascribe any malice to him until today; he merely came across as rash and inexperienced. DiSoRiEnTeD1 had, a little while ago, come to believe there was some sort of admin conspiracy against hims, and User:OncomingStorm12th, User:SOTO and myself had agreed that it was best to give him strong warnings, but not block him, so as to prove him wrong on this point and show him we were not some cabal itching for an excuse to ban him.

He had scarcely shown his face (well, his default user avatar) since then, however. And if he has now left us so definitively… well, I think I and several other users (from OS12th to his frequent talk-page sparring partner User:Najawin) may be owed some closure on the subject of DiSoRiEnTeD1. Najawin, for example, had scruples on the talk page I mentioned earlier, because, for all that he often went overboard in defense of it, DiSoRiEnTeD1 was the main and most steadfast supports of positions opposite to Najawin's (or to mine) in many discussions. Which puts us all in the somewhat awkward position of "winning" by default, without the opposition getting to have a say at the conclusion.

So, after all that, and because your blocking-summary was rather vague (and you did not, or at least have not yet, posted a more fully written-out rationale on his talk page)… my question is just — what happened? What precisely did he do? When? Where?

To be clear, I am not asking for any kind of reduction to his ban, or questioning your decision; if he did indeed break T:SOCK, there is nothing more to be said on the matter in terms of his actual punishment.

…But as I led with, all these rather nebulous feelings of mine are nothing urgent, and I know you have other things on your plate. Get to this when it's convenient for you, and don't hurry yourself on my account! The UCP, home page and so on are clearly more pressing uses of your limited time. Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls[[edit source]]

Hello. I know you've been busy but this looks possibly important so I wanted to let you know. After seeing Category:Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls, I created the page with an explanation as to what it was, as there was some confusion. Chubby Potato 09:39, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Something odd[[edit source]]

I have been noticing a recent surge of either multiple IP users or one user with a fluctuating IP creating some truly bizarre spam pages consisting of pure nonsense and usually being horribly garbled copies of existing valid maintenance pages. Also exhibiting some similar behaviour and overlap of interests to some earlier vandals coming over here from some truly strange wiki apparently about old people of all things to insert ageist remarks into pages about Peter Capaldi and sexist one into pages about Jodie Whittaker. Yeah, I don't know either. NightmareofEden 12:52, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

Re: Master discussion[[edit source]]

Good to know. I did just make another post on the matter just before I received your message, so feel free to delete that. I would like to ask you politely to unlock the initial discussion though, as you did ask for ideas. Regards,

Re: Discussions use[[edit source]]

Right right, I see!

Well, honestly — I agree with you, on the usefulness of not holding policy-making threads in Discussions! It's just that your own quite detailed post seemed to me like a Forum post, and so I thought you had changed your mind about this. I have no particular wish that we do this now, so long as it is agreed that we do it later; I genuinely thought you were the one who wanted it handled in Discussions, there.

But thanks for the explanation, all the same! Scrooge MacDuck 22:02, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

Re: DWM[[edit source]]

Just saw your message at User talk:LegoK9: …what's going on, here? Since when do copyright-holders ring us up and ask us not to include an image on the Wiki? What about fair use and all that? So long as we are reproducing the images for a documentary purpose, there isn't supposed to be much they can say — is there?

To be clear I assume you have a good reason, but I'm wondering about what kind of a weird precedent this is setting, and how it should be applied in future. Scrooge MacDuck 19:38, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Well, yes — but here I can't see how we could possibly be talking about questions of privacy. These are not candid images of private individuals, found in a derelict corner of the web and unfairly signal-booted. These are images that are even now widely reproduced in Doctor Who Magazine. DWM is widely sold among Who fans — and more widely read, perhaps, than our own Wiki.
Furthermore they are not images of a real person, but publicity shots of the Doctor. If DWM asked us not to reproduce a particular publicity shot of Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, would we be forced to delete it to "protect Capaldi's privacy"? Scrooge MacDuck 23:06, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
Hm. I suppose I see what you mean — and I certainly see the sense in maintaining good relations with DWM. I do have to question the wisdom of such a hard rule as "wishes of the copyright holder always trump fair use": what if Big Finish came out and asked us not to host any images of their covers at all, or something of the kind? I could see a publisher of DWU fiction making that kind of pronouncement, albeit not necessarily the Beeb themselves. I can't imagine we could comply with that kind of blanket ban, and still remain a halfway useful Wiki. If they threaten legal action that is another thing, but a mere wish should not paralyse a whole fandom so.
I am speaking in general terms, though. The point is well-taken that in this case we have other publicity shots of that Doctor, from that year, in that outfit. It is not at all essential that we retain this particular one on the Wiki, so we might as well keep DWM happy.
(For the record I have seen a comparable case on another Wiki on which I am an admin; but that case involved a picture of a real person, not a 50-year-old publicity shot of a character; and furthermore it was not a picture readily available to the whole of the fandom in a magazine.) Incidentally, this is unrelated to the above matter, but I am still waiting on you for that Slack invite, unless you already sent it and my spam folder ate it up. Millennia's blue hair[[edit source]]

I already made a forum post about this, but maybe this is better. Thank you! ~@starryeyedgazer June 6th, 2021

Hi, I'm sort of a lurker on this wiki, though I do currently own Eminem Wiki, so I have used the Wikitext language before, though I am certain there's a few things I'd need to learn. I've attempted to understand (and fix, though I haven't made any changes permanent) through the creation and usage of the template Template:TimelineRevised and (originally) Template:Order of Centuries (which should be deleted), with no success. I noticed that (ex. 1st century) the listed centuries are duplicated in the list (as the categories themselves as well as the pages for the individual centuries are listed).

Re: Some of your recent changes and proposals[[edit source]]

Hi, thanks for your detailed breakdown. There are a few things that I would like to rebut, protest and clarify. The stuff in Fandomdesktop.css was only ever intended to be temporary. It was just a collection of fixes to apply over the top of existing CSS. I had plans to write some better, more permanent CSS but this was impractical due to the fact that I can't edit these CSS pages and so had to use my off-wiki contact with Scrooge MacDuck and OncomingStorm12th to get the CSS implemented. Therefore, I deemed the method I used to be most ideal as it's better to have something that works, even if it's not perfect, then nothing at all.

The background was not added by me but rather SOTO. I believe the reason it was done through CSS was because it was more complex then a single image but I'm not entirely sure.

The issue with screenreaders is to do with collapsibles and I'm sorry to admit that I rolled out a set of templates into the theory namespace a few days ago.

Moreover, it's already used heavily in templates such as {{wales crew}} and {{Speedy rename}} so surely a few more wouldn't hurt. Also, the template being developed in that sandbox was not to automate prefixes but rather to add more detail to citations. This would be a massive burden to have to type manually.

Tooltips was a route I was considering a long time ago but I haven't been for a while now.

I hope that you are now feeling better on the medical front. Bongo50 (aka Bongolium500) 07:41, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

Something else that I've just remembered about my use of Fandomdesktop.css is that I wrote a lot of it when Oasis was still the primary skin and I didn't want anything I was writing for FandomDesktop to have side effects on Oasis. Bongo50 (aka Bongolium500) 07:50, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

Anonnotice error[[edit source]]

Hello, I'm glad you're back and I hope you're feeling better now. I know you're still fixing up the tech and visual stuff, but I just wanted to let you know that MediaWiki:Anonnotice was oddly displaying a portion of an infobox which I determined to be from Popidius Celsinus. I hadn't even been on that page. It only happens sometimes but it's very strange. Chubby Potato 05:02, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

Temporary forums[[edit source]]

Hey, hope you've been alright with the (gestures around toward the abstract) everything lately. This is actually a message from multiple admin (myself, user:OncomingStorm12th and user:Scrooge MacDuck), though it is me writing this. (Don't worry too much about it.)

So while you're been busy working on the new forums for the UCP, with the return to the actual Forum namespace no doubt around the corner, a number of users have suggested we set up temporary forums, so we can still get the essential discussions out of the way, in the meantime. We think this is a good idea. We've actually been developing a discussion at Tardis talk:Temporary forums, where others have chimed in (including user:Tangerineduel, who also thinks it's a good idea).

Creatures who hold Time in this universe together broken. Time is beginning to run wild. Could really harm the Tardis. So I made a short-term repair.

Basically, six slots would be open for new discussions (we actually have a list of priorities going). In the spirit of Doctor Who: Flux, rather like the Mouri in the Temple of Atropos, all forum discussion passes through these spaces (beyond the scope of talk pages). When one closes, its spot will be opened for another to take its place.

[[Tardis:Temporary forums]] would be the Hub, with

1. Links to these six spaces;
2: A list of future discussions ("Next Up", agreed to on the talk page);
3. An archive section (with table format, showing resolves/unresolved, and a quick summary of the closing remarks).

All in one place. This will help with moving things over to the Actual Forums. And there will be a strict time limit on these discussions: three weeks until closing time. When this time is up, if a discussion has not reached a conclusion, it'll be closed as unresolved (marked yellow in the table), and taken to the bottom of the list, to be revived later.

This is all to make sure we get the maximum gain (actual resolution) out of a small number of discussions at any one time (to ease the load, creating a smoother transition, with only a small number of pages to move over into the New Forums, later on)[1].

The thing is, we just wanted to make sure you weren't just about to hit that big friendly button before proceeding. No point in all this, after all, if there won't be time enough for round one before the next stage of forum evolution's upon us again. We were thinking about opening the temporary forums on the Sunday after next, around Doctor Who time[2] That'd be Sunday Jan 23rd, 19:30 UTC. Unless you think you'll have the Newest Forums up and running by then?

Happy New Year, by the way!
× SOTO (//) 21:19, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

  1. It will also make sure these will be non-trivial discussions for us to pass over. To be added to the list, a new proposal needs to meet two criteria: It must... 1: be actionable (within the three week time limit, it should be possible to hash out), 2: affect a large number of pages.
  2. Which is to say, around the time we'd start the page for a new episode of Doctor Who. Bottom of the hour, as you once explained to me.
Perfectly alright! I'm in no rush personally, but the community's been calling for things to move forward again. (Obviously, no extra steps would be better.) Glad to hear you're doing well. It's been a while.
× SOTO (//) 03:34, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
Late reply, but all good! Glad to see it's being worked on. We'll hold off for now if that's the case, don't worry.

Off-topic megathread for discussions[[edit source]]

GaganTopia 20:41, 24 February 2022 (UTC)

: Name a list of wikis I have been banned on and when I was banned on them. And my actions on other wikis should not impact how I am on this one, as I've done nothing wrong here, it's not fair, and I do make edits when I see pages to be edited. GaganTopia 19:47, 16 March 2022 (UTC)

Talk page number... things[[edit source]]

The number displayed on the talk page "thingy" on pages seems to be off currently - possible because of a recent Fandom update, so I thought you were the best person to ask. It seems to display "1" for a while after more messages have been added, which certainly throws me off, as I've used this number to confirm if I've received a response in the past. Do you have any clue what could have caused this? (2 screenshots are displayed below for illustrative purposes)

Another issue[[edit source]]

Navigation templates, or "navboxes", also have an issue - they're open by default & cannot be collapsed.

There is no legitimate reason to remove the image gallery from the Pilot Episode's article.[[edit source]]

I looked up the image rules, and there is no rule stating that only articles of valid stories can have image galleries. People will want to see the changes between the pilot and the broadcast. ApertureEmployee427 23:00, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

Personal information[[edit source]]

Hey, how have you been? User:Najawin recently alerted me over personal/potentially doxxing information being added to one of our pages recently by an anonymous user. Since then, I've protected the page so that only autoconfirmed users can edit it (which thankfully stopped the info being added again), but Najawin further contacted me pointing out that we should probably delete said revisions from the page (which I don't believe is something I am able to do.

Would you mind helping out on this? OncomingStorm12th 18:41, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

Just to note, for the technical bit of this getting done, the first edit to add potentially doxxing information was on 26 May 2022‎, and more information was added over time. Nobody noticed it aside from an IP user until this past September when I was checking some old conversations I had and links in them. I promptly removed the info, but someone then added it back. Clearing out the original May edit and all since then is probably the way to go. Najawin 06:07, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

Forums discussion[[edit source]]

Hey, I know you've been busy, but I wanted to let you know that in light of the two year anniversary of the forums being down a good deal of the active editors have been having a discussion over at Forum talk:Index. We'd love for you to read it over and join the conversation when you have the time. Najawin 20:06, 20 October 2022 (UTC)

Template:Wales crew updates[[edit source]]

Hi! Terribly sorry to bother you, but for about a year now I've been, I think, the main person filling in the "Wales crew" template for new episodes (starting with The Halloween Apocalypse, although the one for Revolution of the Daleks is also mostly my work), and I've been logging the new variables they need added over at Template talk:Wales crew.

I gather that User:SOTO has been basically in charge of the template for some time now, but after a very courteous initial reply I haven't received any more communication from them and the template appears unchanged – understandable as they're very busy! I also tried leaving a message on their talk page a few months ago, but no dice... which is why I'm here, as from the talk page it looks like you used to deal with that template.

Starkidsoph 23:45, 30 October 2022 (UTC)

User rights nomination[[edit source]]

Hi CzechOut, long time no chat! I'm sure you saw my nomination of Bongolium500 for adminship, but just want to do due diligence and let you know just in case. I'll also take the chance to thank you for your attention to Forum talk:Index – very much looking forward to the fresh start, and very appreciative of your stopping by to take us over the finish line despite the busy time of year :) – n8 () 18:54, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

Happy Thanksgiving! It's now been a little over one week since Bongo's nomination discussion began, so we'd be ready for you to weigh in. By the way, any update or new ETA for the forums? – n8 ()

Bongolium 500[[edit source]]

Hi Czechout I know I am in the wrong place however for some reason I am unable to comment on the user rights page but long story short i absolutely and wholeheartedly support bongolium 500 in becoming a admin, I know I haven't really contributed anything yet but this is because I am currently trying to learn the rules and how to include the source of my information but I will hopefully be contributing at some point as not only am I a huge doctor who fan but I sometimes work on doctor who as a stunt performer!!!, Anyway I support Bongolium 500 because as a newcomer to contributing on this wikia he is invaluable for the technical stuff in the form of creating new templates I plan to use his help with templates when I hopefully start contributing. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ser0slug (talk • contribs) .

Happy new year[[edit source]]

I Know 2023 isn't here yet, though as I'm near the last day til New Year's Eve, happy new year. User:Sum41Champ

Temporary Forums Are Live![[edit source]]

Hello!

Just wanted to notify you that, User:CzechOut's final deadline of "by New Year's Day" having passed, and following in-depth discussion between myself and fellow admins User:SOTO, User:OncomingStorm12th and User:Bongolium500, we have decided to activate Tardis:Temporary forums, come what may. A sitenotice has been set to inform the community of this development, and I am taking it upon myself to personally update our Administrators on the situation, as well as User:Spongebob456.

As the name implies, we hope the Temporary Forums will remain — well — temporary. Any work on reactivating proper DPL Forums will still be welcome and appreciated; this system is a further fine-tuning of the setup Bongolium500 had proposed in December 2021, which it means is designed from the ground up to be easy to transfer into the actual DPL Forums if we should get those back in the near future after all.

But it has been multiple years since the Wiki has had a venue for changing policy and forming community consensus on important matters. Bongolium500 and SOTO put forward the first draft of the Temporary Forums a full year ago — and were convinced to retract it by a promise that the real Forums would come ‘very soon’; and here we are. The Tardis community are owed a different approach.

We four elementals behind the Temporary Forums would like to reassure the rest of the admin team that this necessary step is not intended to create more work for them unbidden. Four are, if it comes to that, plenty enough to keep the peace a Forum with no more than six threads running at a time; we would be thrilled to see the rest of the team embracing the Temporary Forums, but please don't feel any obligation to do so.

Happy New Year, happy editing — and happy contribution to the New Forums!

Re: Forums[[edit source]]

Hi. I've accepted your friend request. Having the Forum namespace back in action is certainly going to be very helpful. Bongo50 05:45, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

Heads up about the thanks extension[[edit source]]

Hi. I just wanted to give you a heads up that Tardis is testing the "thanks" extension which Fandom will be rolling out to all wikis soon. This extension allows editors to thank other editors for their edits. The editor being thanked will then recieve a notification. Therefore, while you're actively performing edits, you may receieve a few more notifications than normal. If you notice any bugs, pass them onto User:Spongebob456. Bongo50 19:56, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

Why don't you use your bot anymore?[[edit source]]

It hasn't made any edits since september 2020. Sliderhostmimic 18:12, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

Request to correct a mistake[[edit source]]

Hi CzechOut I am fairly new to contributing to this fandom but I contribute to another regularly, anyway I have accidentally linked to a category that doesn't exist, I intended to link to the category UNIT United Kingdom however I have accidentally confused myself and created UNIT UK, please can you try and rectify my mistake on my behalf as I know I can't do it without being a admin (I'm a admin on another fandom, so I have inside knowledge of being a admin)

'Which Way Out?' short story[[edit source]]

Hello, I have been looking for a certain Doctor Who story for a long time. I mean 'Which Way Out?' from TV Comic Holiday Special 1976. It's hard to find any information about this story, but I did find that you wrote an article about it on the TARDIS Wiki, so I assume you've read it. I was wondering if you might still have access to this story? I will be very grateful for your answer.
