Flashback... was a 21 short story printed in TV Century 21 that contained elements from the Doctor Who universe.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

TV 21 "draws back the curtain of time" to 30 January 2065. On that day, their special correspondent for Marineville reports that the World Aquanaut Security Patrol vessel Stingray has been attacked by a Titan Terror Fish, prompting Commander Shore to lauch an air search. In Space City, Commander Zero holds a press conference which reveals that Fireball XL5 has discovered and landed on an unknown asteroid in hyperspace. Finally, the fact the Dalek City on Skaro lies in ruin is front page news following its destruction after the accidental explosion of a neutron bomb. It is a catastrophe which reportedly leaves War Lord Zolfian and scientist Yarvelling as the only surviving members of their species.

Worldbuilding[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • TV 21 states itself to be "always first with the news".

Story notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • This story was the second in a sub-series of 21 stories which reviewed older in-universe issues of TV 21. It was also the first story to crossover with the Doctor Who universe since 21 regained its former place as the dominant feature of the letters page after it replaced Spectrum Shades.
