Rumours
- The Doctor will be shot down by a Dalek only to be comforted by Rose Tyler. He is initially unconscious however he wakes up in time to have a few words with Miss Tyler. Dialogue included is rumoured to be; "Missed you." "Missed you too." Although the person that overheard did stress that it was said very quietly and this may not be the case.
- Another line of dialogue said to feature in this episode is "Don't use project Indigo, it's not safe."
- This episode is to feature Davros.
- This episode marks the return of Captain Jack Harkness, Martha Jones, Sarah Jane Smith and possibly K9
- Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones briefly appear when Jack is recruited once more by the Doctor. However pictures of filming indicate he is alone when he looks up and says, "that's just impossible." It is unclear as to what he is looking at as it may be either the disappearing stars as seen in the mid-series trailer or possible the TARDIS itself, or maybe whatever Rose Tyler was looking at also in the trailer, or probably Rose, as she is stuck in another universe sealed away until now, which wasn't meant to happen.
- The Daleks invade UNIT. In the mid series trailer some Daleks were seen with the UNIT logo behind them. There is also a character called General Sanchez who is said to work for UNIT.
- A Red Dalek appears. Confirmed from YouTube footage, which showed a Red Dalek with extra armour plating.
- Harriet Jones is either inside a normal Dalek casing or the Red Dalek casing.
- The Master returns.
- The Judoon return.
- The Eighth-Ninth Doctor Regeneration is explained.
- Gallifrey is restored.
- Donna has been possessed by the Racnoss. In The Fires Of Pompeii, Lucius Petrus Dextrus told Donna "There is something on your back".
- The Sontarans return and start a war with the Daleks. Two years ago in series 2, Army of Ghosts and Doomsday saw a battle between the Daleks and Cybermen. This may be a pattern.
- Donna is really the Rani.
- The Rift is opened, and someone has to go inside and sacrifice them selves to close it. Captain Jack decides to send in Bilis Manger from Torchwood, because he is indestructible. No way is this going to happen.
- The Doctor and his companions are thrown into an alternate future where the Daleks are in control of the Universe from Skaro and all their plots succeeded, and greenhouse gases are at their worst.
- The Emperor Dalek was trapped in the Time Vortex at the end The Parting Of The Ways and has found his way back. Unlikely, as it was stated Davros was the main enemy in this story.
- The Shadow Proclamation feature, their leaders being the Shadow Architects. Confirmed, as the synopsis said the Doctor and his friends would have to 'brave the Shadow Proclamation to find out the truth.
- Davros has taken control of the shadow proclomation, hence why he was in the shadows in the mid-series trail and it says "the doctor and donna must brave the shadow proclomation, while a fearsome old enemy lies in wait in the shadows".
