WELCOME TO THE FRONT PAGE OF THE TARDIS INDEX FILE!
----------------------------------------------
You will note that none of the content of the front page is actually on the front page.  For ease of maintenance, all sections of the front page are in a
template of their own.  Those templates follow the naming pattern {{Doctor Who Wiki/Section Name}}.  When those templates are used on this page —
and ONLY when they're used on this page — they can be called by dropping "Doctor Who Wiki", as with  {{/Section Name}}.  This is achieved by linking
the subpage with the name of a section to the template with that name.  Thus, there is the article subpage: Doctor Who Wiki/Comics and the template page, Template:Doctor Who Wiki/Comics.  If you create a new section, you need to create both an article  subpage and a template page of the same names.  Changing the name of the front  page will turn the page into a series of red links.  Note that if you want to edit the actual content of the page, you have to click the little symbol of a hand holding a pen within that section.

Why have we radically changed the coding of the page?  In part to protect against vandalism.  The front page cannot be totally destroyed by just one
action.  Rather, each individual section must be attacked for the page  to be seriously compromised.  It is now possible to fully lock the main page without sacrificing any great editability.  New sections can be created, inspected, and vetted before they appear on the front page.  And the regular maintenance of the page is now made much easier by allowing editors to jut concentrate on the one section they want to change.  No more hunting through lines of obscure code to find the bit that changes the "Quote of the week".  Now you just click on the edit symbol close to the "QOTW", and change away.  Easy.
In terms of actual code used to create the page, it's fairly simple, but it's also fairly precise.  You can certainly change the order of different sections.  You can certainly add sections.  But note that the left and right columns operate as different components — albeit with exactly the same syntax.
=======
Left Column
=======
The following creates the left column.  The sections must be precisely here, placed out in a line unseparated by line breaks.  Their order, left to right,
indicates their order, top to bottom, on the page.  Note that televised episodes are always to be at
the top-most part of the page, so {{/Television}} should always follow {{/Top}}.    -->

Right Column
----------
The following creates the right column.  The syntax is  just like the left column.  The trick when figuring out what to put in each column is to try to balance the columns as much as possible.  The left column
should be about as long as the right column.  This is difficult, and fairly impossible to achieve precisely.  Remember to allow for the advertisement
which appears on the right column.  Remember too to set your browser width at no more than about 1024px for testing; preferably pull your
browser window width down to the point that the two columns stop collapsing on each other.  That way you can guarantee the way this page
will appear on most browsers.  -->

The Lost Stories are based on television scripts considered but for various reasons not produced. All the Doctors from the First to the Seventh have made an appearance.

The Incomplete Death's Head was a 12-part comic mini-series which reprinted 18 stories featuring the Marvel Comics character Death's Head. The comic is extremely unique for featuring Doctor Who universe concepts such as the Seventh Doctor and Hob alongside explicit Marvel cameos, with flashbacks including such characters as She-Hulk and the Fantastic Four. This was one of the most explicit examples of the Doctor himself being presented as existing inside the Marvel Universe, aka Earth-616.

Quote of the minute

Tenth Doctor: 30th Olympiad!
Rose Tyler: No way! Why didn't I think of this? That's great!
Tenth Doctor: Only seems like yesterday a few naked Greek blokes were tossing a discus about, wrestling with each other in the sand. The crowds stood around, baying — no, wait, that was Club Med! Just in time for the opening do-dah ceremony tonight! Last one they had in London was dynamite! Wembley in 1948. Loved it so much I went back and watched it all over again. Thought of carrying the torch ...

Popular categories

If you're new to wikis, it might be helpful for you to take note of the concept of categories. Categories are the principal organizing tool on a wiki, allowing users to group information in ways that can ease the discovery of information. All the pages on our wiki are found, ultimately, in just four big "super categories". If this is your first visit here, please go to Floor 500 for a discussion of the way our wiki is organized.

Real world
On our wiki, the world we actually live in is called the "real world" . As such, information about the production of Doctor Who and her sister shows are in this category. This includes pages about the actual televised episodes themselves, the behind-the-scenes personnel, terminology used by the production teams, and merchandise related to the shows.
Time-Space Visualiser
The Time-Space Visualiser is the place where most of this wiki's pages reside. All the articles are written from an in-universe perspective, quite different to what you might be used to on Wikipedia. Here you'll find information related to The Doctor, his companions, Other individuals, astronomical objects, time travel, species, locations, science, culture, and a whole host of other subjects.
Non-DWU material
Notwithstanding writer Paul Cornell's famous comments that denounced the concept of "canon" in Doctor Who, our canon policy does deem a few things to be outside the Doctor Who universe. For examples, visit: stories, characters, technology, species, and locations.
The Hub
This category contains articles having to do with the actual running of the wiki. It's full of all those little pages that help the wiki work. As such, it isn't accessed often by most users. However, more advanced editors might wish to peruse the templates category for ways to make their editing easier. Or if you're looking for a place to start editing on the wiki, you might want to look at articles that need updating, major expansion, general copy-editing, sectional cleanup, and re-writing from an in-universe perspective.
