Godmother Quelch was a member of Faction Paradox.
Quelch presided over the bonding of Cousin Dysgenia's shadow-weapon. Dysgenia wanted a wind-up torch, but Quelch thought that was ridiculous and Dysgenia was given a weapon that looked like a long stick with a looped hook on the end. (PROSE: A Story of the Peace)
In The Thousand and Second Night, the third Wazir's tale, which he had learned by summoning the Shayatin, depicted Abdillah's receiving of a shadow-weapon from an "Allah-mother" who threatened to "pull [his] gizzards out through [his] anal passage and feed them to the crows." (PROSE: Head of State)
