The entrance to the Black Site on Davies Street was two black metal doors marked with the UNIT logo. (WC: Tia Kofi Enters the Time Fracture! [+]Loading...["Tia Kofi Enters the Time Fracture! (webcast)"]) Inside these doors was an atrium covered in graffiti, with a fence warning civilians away from the Black Site. The atrium led into the large central room of the Black Site, which had two Portal Stabilisation Gateways which allowed individuals to travel into the Time Fracture. The walls were lined with computers and screens showing the effects of the Fracture. History[[edit] | [edit source]]

By one account, UNIT began observing the Time Fracture on 8 June 1980. This would become the Black Site, which continued to operate into the early 2020s after UNIT's shutdown. (WC: 14682 UNIT Field Log [+]Loading...["14682 UNIT Field Log (webcast)"])

By another account, "clandestine government departments" were aware of the Time Rift since its opening in the 1940s. The Black Site was founded in 1968 when the newly-founded "Unified Intelligence Task Force" took control of the Fracture area. (PROSE: Welcome to Operation Time Fracture [+]Loading...["Welcome to Operation Time Fracture (short story)"])

In 2020, following the shutdown of the Tower of London UNIT HQ, UNIT began using the Black Site as their secret central headquarters. Kate Stewart and the Osgoods continued to work from here. In the early 2020s, civilians were summoned to the Black Site to close the Time Fracture. (WC: Full-Length Trailer: Time Fracture [+]Loading...["Full-Length Trailer: Time Fracture (webcast)"], PROSE: And now for a story... [+]Loading...["And now for a story... (short story)"])

At some point, Silence invaded the facility from the Time Fracture. (WC: There's been a breach... [+]Loading...["There's been a breach... (webcast)"])

The Thirteenth Doctor once left a Google Maps review of this building. (PROSE: John Smith's Google Maps reviews [+]Loading...["John Smith's Google Maps reviews (short story)"])

Following UNIT's return to power after the defeat of the Grand Serpent, central operations moved from the Black Site to a new facility. (PROSE: The Thirteenth Doctor Sourcebook [+]Loading...["The Thirteenth Doctor Sourcebook (reference book)"])

In February 2024, Sergeant Darren, located in UNIT HQ, received a transmission across time from his friend and coworker Sasha, who had been stranded in the Dark Times by an encounter with the Entity. After they ascertained her coordinates, UNIT called the Doctor in as "reinforcements", and he managed to rescue her, bringing it back to the 21st century; Darren then proudly reported that she was "safe and sound in UNIT HQ" to his commander. Though it's possible that a real world location doesn't exist in the same geographic space in the Doctor Who universe, such cases are few and far between. Thus, the map to the right is probably a good indicator of the DWU location of Black Site.
