Sir George Hutchinson was Lord of the Manor of Little Hodcombe.
Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
Descended from Squire Hutchinson, Sir George Hutchinson was Lord of the Manor of Little Hodcombe and owned half of the village, something that he never allowed his tenants to forget. (PROSE: The Awakening [+]Loading...["The Awakening (novelisation)"]) He was also the local magistrate and friends with Colonel Ben Wolsey. In 1984, Andrew Verney informed him that he had found the dormant Malus in the church, but Sir George's "deranged mind" awoke it. The Malus offered him power and Sir George accepted, having Verney imprisoned to prevent his interference.
Sir George held war games based on the English Civil War to feed the Malus with psychic energy, taking on the role of Royalist General and sealing off the village so that nobody could enter or leave. By the time he was preparing for the final battle and to burn a Queen of the May, he had succeeded in getting everybody aside from Jane Hampden involved in the games, but his plans were threatened by the Fifth Doctor, Tegan Jovanka and Vislor Turlough's search for Verney. He ordered Wolsey and Joseph Willow to capture the three of them and intended on burning Tegan as Queen of the May.
Sir George had Turlough locked up with Verney, Tegan put in traditional dress and ordered Wolsey to kill the Doctor, but Wolsey refused to do so and put a scarecrow on the May Queen's cart instead of Tegan. Sir George chased the Doctor, Tegan, Wolsey and Will Chandler to the church where the Malus began to completely take him over and forget his old friend. The Doctor reminded him of who Wolsey was and told him that he was a slave to the Malus, which was making him feel anger and hatred, but ultimately Sir George died when Will, (TV: The Awakening [+]Loading...["The Awakening (TV story)"]) reminded of Squire Hutchinson, (PROSE: The Awakening [+]Loading...["The Awakening (novelisation)"]) pushed him into the Malus. Personality[[edit] | [edit source]]
Although Sir George wanted power (TV: The Awakening [+]Loading...["The Awakening (TV story)"]) and always reminded those living in Little Hodcombe that he owned the land, (PROSE: The Awakening [+]Loading...["The Awakening (novelisation)"]) he did not feel anger or hatred until he was taken over by the influence of the Malus. Appearance[[edit] | [edit source]]
Sir George had a sharp-featured face and a moustache. During his war games, he wore a shoulder-length wig and was the perfect image of a 17th century Cavalier. (PROSE: The Awakening [+]Loading...["The Awakening (novelisation)"])
