Will Chandler was a companion of the Fifth Doctor.

Will Chandler lived in Little Hodcombe in the 17th century (TV: The Awakening [+]Loading...["The Awakening (TV story)"]) and was forced into service by Squire Hutchinson, whom he believed was an evil man. In 1643, he witnessed Hutchinson burning the Queen of the May (PROSE: The Awakening [+]Loading...["The Awakening (novelisation)"]) and was horrified by her screams. The Malus[[edit] | [edit source]]
Will was forced into battle against the Roundheads by Squire Hutchinson. (PROSE: The Awakening [+]Loading...["The Awakening (novelisation)"]) When the fighting in Little Hodcombe reached the church, he hid in a priest hole and the Malus appeared. The Malus intermingled 1638 with 1984 and sent Will forward in time. Finding himself behind a wall, Will burst through and met the Fifth Doctor, Tegan Jovanka and Vislor Turlough.
Will told the group about the Malus after the Doctor proved that he had moved through time by showing him the dates on gravestones, (TV: The Awakening [+]Loading...["The Awakening (TV story)"]) which horrified him. (PROSE: The Awakening [+]Loading...["The Awakening (novelisation)"]) The Doctor believed his claims after they found a lump of Tinclavic and they returned with Jane Hampden to the church, where the Malus emerged from behind a wall. (TV: The Awakening [+]Loading...["The Awakening (TV story)"]) Reminded of the squire, (PROSE: The Awakening [+]Loading...["The Awakening (novelisation)"]) Will pushed Sir George Hutchinson into the Malus, killing him. After a holiday in 1984, (PROSE: The Awakening [+]Loading...["The Awakening (novelisation)"]) Will joined the Doctor in the TARDIS to be returned to his own time and Jane went with them. (PROSE: The Hollow Men [+]Loading...["The Hollow Men (novel)"]) Shortly after leaving Little Hodcombe, Will and the Doctor visited a planet populated by a race of warlike lizards. After a month, the Doctor managed to return Will home. (PROSE: The King of Terror [+]Loading...["The King of Terror (novel)"])
