Fugitive of the Judoon was the fifth episode of series 12 of Doctor Who. It re-introduced the Judoon, and saw the return of Captain Jack Harkness, who had not been seen on televised Doctor Who in just over a decade, since The End of Time in 2010. This was Jack's first appearance on television since Torchwood series 4 ended in 2011, with The Blood Line.

This episode also featured the introduction of a woman claiming to also be the Doctor, with her own TARDIS, though neither Doctor can remember living the life of the other. This other Doctor is said to have used a Chameleon Arch to hide on Earth in her "Ruth Clayton" identity. She has a history working for the Time Lords, in an undisclosed capacity, and does not recognise the Thirteenth Doctor's sonic screwdriver.

The Thirteenth Doctor postulates that this other Doctor must somehow be an incarnation from her past, due to her involvement with Gallifrey, though she is not sure how this might be possible. Jack also warns the Doctor's friends about the Lone Cyberman, setting up a story arc that, for now, would go unresolved.
