Miranda is a television sitcom created by and starring Miranda Hart which originally aired on BBC One and BBC Two from 9 November 2009 - 1 January 2015.

The series depicts Hart as portraying a fictionalised version of herself; a single, socially awkward thirty-something who runs a joke shop with her best friend, and who often finds herself in an array of awkward and bizarre situations, while working through her underlying attraction to her old university friend. Miranda often speaks directly to her audience throughout the series, typically as a means to provide context and backstory to whatever scenario she finds herself in, and to express her thoughts.

The second episode of the story features a segment where the Eleventh Doctor runs away from a threat. After being asked by Rob Brydon and Sarah Alexander what he was being chased by, with Brydon suggesting the Cybermen, the Doctor replies "Miranda!", before she runs after him holding a sprig of mistletoe.
