After the destruction of the previous console, (PROSE: The Crystal Bucephalus [+]Loading...["The Crystal Bucephalus (novel)"], AUDIO: The Kamelion Empire [+]Loading...["The Kamelion Empire (audio story)"]) the Fifth Doctor redesigned the TARDIS control console with an entirely different control layout. (TV: The Five Doctors, et al.) This console was inherited by the Sixth and Seventh Doctors. (TV: The Twin Dilemma, Time and the Rani)

Associated control rooms[[edit] | [edit source]]

This console was part of the TARDIS control room which appeared alongside it. (TV: The Five Doctors [+]Loading...["The Five Doctors (TV story)"])

The Tremas Master once used this console in Goth's TARDIS. (TV: Planet of Fire [+]Loading...["Planet of Fire (TV story)"])

The Rani's TARDIS once used a black and red version of this console. (TV: Dimensions in Time [+]Loading...["Dimensions in Time (TV story)"])

A panel from this console appeared in the Remembered TARDIS. (TV: Earthshock [+]Loading...["Earthshock (TotT TV story)"])

Layout[[edit] | [edit source]]

This model of console consisted almost entirely of panels of toggle switches and monitors protruding from among these panels, with the exceptions being the controls operating the door and the scanner.

The top and bottom of the panels were also built on a slant raised up from the top of the base and to the edge of the time rotor, which also had a different design, appearing as a multiple-layered glass structure built around a series of pulsating rods and lights. The base of the console was significantly different, with indented shapes in its six sides and hexagons risen out from them.

With this new design, repairs could no longer be made from the base of the console, but instead through wiring behind the roundels throughout the TARDIS. (TV: Terminus, Attack of the Cybermen, etc). However, some functions could be accessed from behind the slanted panels beneath the controls (TV: Planet of Fire)

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

By account, the Sixth Doctor's regeneration was caused by him hitting his head on the console. (PROSE: Head Games [+]Loading...["Head Games (novel)"])

By one account, the Tremas Master once sought revenge for the events on the Cheetah Planet by attacking the console with a hammer, preventing the Doctor controlling the TARDIS's destination. (PROSE: How did this creep get in here, Professor?)

The broken console. (COMIC: Ground Zero)

This console was badly damaged when the Seventh Doctor flew the TARDIS into humanity's collective unconcious in an attempt to rescue Susan, Sarah Jane, Peri and Ace. (COMIC: Ground Zero)
