Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

Exterminate! is a "scenario-driven skirmish wargame", in which two players play out skirmishes between two factions. The game came with two grid-based setting mats for gameplay and various obstacles to be placed on them. Players compete for "victory points", which are obtained in various ways epending on the scenario, often involving objective markers known as Vortex Nodes.

Each character in the game has an associated miniature figure and set of cards which dictate their possible actions and position in a faction. Players could also customize factions with the use of "Agents", individual characters brought into one's faction either from other factions or (in the expanded game) from certain Into the Time Vortex releases.

Guide to the Time Vortex[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Guide to the Time Vortex booklet explained how to play Exterminate! as a Dalek and Cyberman faction, as well as any of the other neutral factions obtained through purchase of sets in Into the Time Vortex.

The booklet explains the general setting for the game. The Children of Skaro, operating under Davros and the Supreme Dalek, are enacting a "Master Plan" to assemble a Time Destructor. Their Master Plan brings them on a series of missions throughout space to acquire certain components, resources, and the power of the Time Vortex. Beyond their own forces, Daleks have recruited willing allies and manipulated unsuspecting races into conflicts which will further their goal. Meanwhile, the Cybermen are waging their mission of total Cyberization across the universe, using their own forces, willing allies, and partially Cyber-converted humanoids. These opposing quests will bring the two species in conflict with each other.

The booklet included a set of 6 simple scenarios that acted as chapters of the Dalek's Master Plan.

Scenario 1: A Meeting of Metal[[edit] | [edit source]]

The conflict between the Daleks and Cybermen begins when both races seek crystals imbued with Vortex Energy which are in a crashed spaceship.

Scenario 2: Ship of Death[[edit] | [edit source]]

One of the factions prepares to launch a powerful starship with a stellar convertor that will turn the tides of the Dalek-Cyberman war in their favour. An opposing incursion force breaks into the ship to stop it being launched.

Scenario 3: Countdown to Oblivion[[edit] | [edit source]]

Two factions fight for Vortex Nodes on a mysterious abandoned ship filled with spatial anomalies and a mysterious countdown.

Scenario 4: The Gathering Storm[[edit] | [edit source]]

As forces begin assembling for the final showdown, a depleted faction tries to buy time for their side by launching a sacrificial attack on the winning side.

Scenario 5: Doomsday[[edit] | [edit source]]

The winning faction arrives at a place where the Time Vortex will give its secrets, however they realize they have been tricked by the Doctor and that they are actually on a planet stuck in no-space. Stuck at the end of the road, the factions battle once more.

Scenario 6: The Zone[[edit] | [edit source]]

Two factions fight for Vortex Crystals on the planet Mira Alpha.

Adventures[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Adventures booklet detailed how to play the game as the Doctor's faction. The Doctor's faction's role in the setting of Exterminate! is to interfere with the missions of the Daleks and the Cybermen, as well as any other faction the players chose to use in their scenarios.

The booklet included two scenarios for use with the Doctor's faction.

Scenario 1: If In Doubt… Run![[edit] | [edit source]]

The Doctor's faction is separated from their TARDIS and being chased by another faction. They must run to escape.

Scenario 2: Time Junction[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Doctor and companions visit a planet where time was broken by the Great Time War. As the Doctor tries to fix time, they will fight another faction.
