Prelude to Against Nature (short story)
From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
Prelude to Against Nature was, as the name suggested, a prelude to Against Nature by Lawrence Burton. It did not appear in the published novel.
Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]
Ocotochtli and Lord Ahuizotl observe Momacani's reaction to a newly-appeared room in Tenochtitlan. The chamber is ; inside lay the collapsed bodies of a man and woman dressed in bone-like armour and animal skull masks. Momacani assesses that they are Mocolxiutecatl, and Ahuizotl invites him to become one of his Ixtilli. They then realise the room has disappeared.
Characters[[edit] | [edit source]]
Worldbuilding[[edit] | [edit source]]
- The phantoms guiding the intruders lack power in Tenochtitlan.
Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- This story references author Lawrence Burton's intended backstory for Momacani as a Faction Paradox agent who "went native" in Tenochtitlan and whose past was rewritten by the powerful Aztec noosphere. This comes from an earlier draft where Momacani and Icnopilli were the same character, with some elements of this still filtering down to the final version of Icnopilli.[1]
- In the invalid novella The Grail, part of the Periodic Adventures of Señor 105 series, the translation of Mocolxiutecatl is given as "those of the lineage that twist time back upon themselves".
Continuity[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Momacani has unnatural knowledge of the spirit world. (PROSE: Against Nature)
