In 2005, Philip Purser-Hallard and Faction Paradox creator Lawrence Miles wrote a pilot script for City of the Saved, a radio sitcom set in the eponymous City, which Purser-Hallard had created for Iris Wildthyme in the City of the Saved and later featured in his Faction Paradox books The Book of the War and Of the City of the Saved....[1]

One scene depicted an argument between three Neanderthals and a clinical psychiatrist. Another scene showed Hrothgar being given a citation for "unlawful assembly" and "stamping on ducks" in a public park.[2]

The episode was recorded on 3 October 2005 at the Moat Studios in London. Lawrence Miles directed, and actors included Marq English[2] and Heather Tracy.[source needed] However, the audio was ultimately never released, with Miles noting, "It didn't end well."[3] As of 2024 the City of the Saved pilot, Absent Friends, Journey into Time, and 41.1978.A [+]Loading...["41.1978.A (unreleased webcast)"], are the only four performed Whoniverse-related stories known to have achieved the dubious honour of being fully recorded but never officially released in any form.

In 2012, Obverse Books released Tales of the City, the first in a prose anthology series set in the city.
