Uranus was discovered in 1781 by William Herschel. (PROSE: Neptune)
In the late 40th century, Uranus was among the "Big Four" powers in an alliance against the Dalek invasions, when it was decided to found the Space Security Service. (PROSE: The Outlaw Planet) A lengthy mining operation found taranium deposits there, which powered the Daleks' Time Destructor. In 4010, representatives of various races including the Ice Warriors, Pakhars, Alpha Centaurans, and Guermantians, went to Cressida to watch a rare chemical reaction in the atmosphere of Uranus. (PROSE: Uranus)
