Benny's Story (audio story)

Benny's Story was the first story in the audio anthology, The Company of Friends, which comprised the one hundred and twenty-third release in Big Finish's monthly range. It was written by Lance Parkin and featured Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor and Lisa Bowerman as Bernice Summerfield.

It was notable for being the first performed pairing of the two characters. They had already appeared together in the novel The Dying Days, also by writer Lance Parkin.

This story was recorded on 30 and 31 October 2008 at The Moat Studios.
The story includes dialogue which implies that the Doctor and Benny had a sexual encounter during the events of the novel The Dying Days, further fuelling a fan debate over what actually happened dating back to the novel's publication in 1997.

Benny mentions her first encounter with the Seventh Doctor on Heaven in 2570. (PROSE: Love and War, AUDIO: Love and War)
Benny remembers her last encounter with the Doctor, and saving the Earth from the Ice Warriors in 1997. (PROSE: The Dying Days)
Benny says that this is the second time she met the Eighth Doctor. The first was in PROSE: The Dying Days. She would meet him again in PROSE: ...Be Forgot.
The Doctor states that the last time the TARDIS scanner showed something different to reality it was caused by a pollen induced hallucination. (AUDIO: Brotherhood of the Daleks) Psychic pollen ends up causing a similar problem for the Eleventh Doctor, Amy and Rory. (TV: Amy's Choice)
