Background[[edit] | [edit source]]

Over many centuries, the Family Slitheen established themselves as a criminal clan. (PROSE: Raxacoricofallapatorius [+]Loading...["Raxacoricofallapatorius (short story)"]) Meanwhile, Raxacoricofallapatorius was the most admired planet in the Raxas Alliance, (TV: The Gift [+]Loading...["The Gift (TV story)"]) with their twin planet Clom, (TV: Love & Monsters [+]Loading...["Love & Monsters (TV story)"]) as well as Clix and Raxacoricovarlonpatorius all taking their lead from it. One of the planet's most respected families were the Blathereen (TV: The Gift [+]Loading...["The Gift (TV story)"]) who, along with the Rackateen, were cousins to the Slitheen (PROSE: Raxacoricofallapatorius [+]Loading...["Raxacoricofallapatorius (short story)"]) and descendants of the original Huspick Degenerate. (WC: Monster File: Slitheen [+]Loading...["Monster File: Slitheen (webcast)]]"]) However, this changed as the Slitheen infiltrated all levels of government on Raxacoricofallapatorius, subtly controlling the planet's off-world distribution of the valuable spice, Offich. They became so deeply embedded in government that they threatened to tarnish their entire species with their crimes. (PROSE: Raxacoricofallapatorius [+]Loading...["Raxacoricofallapatorius (short story)"]) Ultimately, the Slitheen bribed their way into power, ruining their planet's good name. The Purge[[edit] | [edit source]]

Eventually, the economy on Raxacoricofallapatorius crashed, leading to the rest of the Raxacoricofallapatorian population rising up against and deposing the Slitheen (TV: The Gift [+]Loading...["The Gift (TV story)"]) as they were exposed, shamed, and arrested en masse in the Great Purge of Yon:556, with many fleeing their homeworld (PROSE: Raxacoricofallapatorius [+]Loading...["Raxacoricofallapatorius (short story)"]) to the farthest corners of the galaxy whilst some faced justice. (TV: The Gift [+]Loading...["The Gift (TV story)"]) The Slitheen found themselves forced out by the Judoon, whilst holding the Blathereen and Hostrozeen families in contempt. (TV: Revenge of the Slitheen [+]Loading...["Revenge of the Slitheen (TV story)"]) The entire clan, including every cousin, step-sister, half-mother and fiancée, thought to number more than 550 (PROSE: Raxacoricofallapatorius [+]Loading...["Raxacoricofallapatorius (short story)"]) were tried and found guilty, in perpetuity. The surviving Slitheen were given the death sentence in their absence, with no chance of appeal according to the statutes of government. Aftermath and legacy[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Great Purge of Yon:556 was acknowledged in Jane's Book of Planets. (PROSE: Raxacoricofallapatorius [+]Loading...["Raxacoricofallapatorius (short story)"])

Many years after their trial, (TV: Boom Town [+]Loading...["Boom Town (TV story)"]) the Slitheen made an attempt to exploit an ongoing interstellar recession by destroying the planet Earth and selling its remains, which was thwarted by the Ninth Doctor. (TV: Aliens of London [+]Loading...["Aliens of London (TV story)"]/World War Three [+]Loading...["World War Three (TV story)"]) Blon Fel-Fotch Passameer-Day Slitheen, the sole survivor of her immediate family, remained on Earth disguised as "Margaret Blaine" before being found six months later by the Doctor. Though his intention was to take her back to Raxacoricofallapatorius, where she would have been executed, Blon's attempt to exploit the TARDIS to escape Earth using an tribophysical waveform macro-kinetic extrapolator caused the heart of the TARDIS to open and regress her back into an egg, allowing her to start a new life in a Raxacoricofallapatorian hatchery. (TV: Boom Town [+]Loading...["Boom Town (TV story)"])

The Slitheen found themselves on hard times, being closed in on from all sides, including the Judoon and the other families of Raxacoricofallapatorious. Seeking a "new beginning" with wealth and security, a group led by Glune Fex Fize Sharlaveer-Slam Slitheen came to Earth, motivated by the loss of their family there, and established Coldfire Construction as a front to use transducers to drain the energy of the Sun which would then be sold. Glune intended to use the money to buy a fleet of battle cruisers and return to the homeworld, where the Slitheen were to "smite" the Grand Council, "crush" the Senate, leaving the Blathereen and the Hostrozeen to beg for mercy.

However, this plot was foiled by Sarah Jane Smith, a former companion of the Doctor (TV: Revenge of the Slitheen [+]Loading...["Revenge of the Slitheen (TV story)"]) who would go on to thwart the Slitheen on numerous occassions from her home in the Ealing area over the following years, (TV: The Lost Boy [+]Loading...["The Lost Boy (TV story)"], From Raxacoricofallapatorius with Love [+]Loading...["From Raxacoricofallapatorius with Love (TV story)"], The Nightmare Man [+]Loading...["The Nightmare Man (TV story)"]) including a pair of Slitheen-Blathereen whom initially appeared as Blathereen intercepting a pair of Slitheen. Claiming the Slitheen to be the only criminal family of Raxacoricofallapatorius, the "Blathereen" claimed to have dedicated themselves to tracking down and bringing the Slitheen to justice by ensuring they stood trial on their home planet, where Sarah Jane's work was spoken of "with great regard". (TV: The Gift [+]Loading...["The Gift (TV story)"])

Eventually, the death sentence was lifted, and captured Slitheen were incarcerated, as was done when the Hazrateen apprehended Slitheen operating on MXQ1. (AUDIO: The Taste of Death [+]Loading...["The Taste of Death (audio story)"])
