Shana Siddiqui

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Shana Siddiqui was an entomologist with UNIT.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

Early life[[edit] | [edit source]]

When Shana was young, she liked to believe that all insects had their own lives and personalities. She would be greatly upset when she saw boys drowning anthills or killing wasps with magnifying glasses and would go and "sort them out".

Shana's father died and she remained in close contact with her mother, whom she often called on the phone. She studied at university, during which she performed some very bad karaoke, and became an entomologist, getting a job as a researcher and working alongside Simon. (AUDIO: Hosts of the Wirrn)

Joining UNIT[[edit] | [edit source]]

Shana was given a surprise interview by Petronella Osgood, who conducted the interview through a raven of death, and was invited to join UNIT as an entomologist to help analyse a Wirrn egg and create a cure for Wirrn infection. She accepted and, after resigning as a researcher, headed to the Well at Lake Windermere and was inducted into UNIT by Josh Carter, briefly being introduced to Kate Stewart using a hologram projector. She was given keys to a flat which she was to share with Kirsty Musgrave. (AUDIO: Hosts of the Wirrn)

UNIT career[[edit] | [edit source]]

Whilst analysing a cell sample of the Wirrn egg, Shana was infected and made by the shared Wirrn mind to keep it a secret. She and Osgood hatched the egg thanks to her newfound knowledge and she released the Wirrn Queen, allowing her to sting Marcus and grow new eggs inside of him. She later released him from a quarantine pod and took him back to the Queen, making Osgood realise that she was under Wirrn control. Osgood gave her tranquilisers to help with the pain when she began to succumb to the shared mind and began metamorphosis.

Kate utilised Shana's connection to the Wirrn to find out what catastrophe the Wirrn Queen's egg had survived. With the knowledge that the Queen's death would kill her children due to their psychic link, Osgood injected Shana with a virus from the cryo-archive to kill the Queen before administering an antidote which saved Shana. Shana remained at the Well and used a hologram to appear with her human form. Kate and Osgood promised that they would ensure that her life would be as normal as possible. (AUDIO: Hosts of the Wirrn)

Personality[[edit] | [edit source]]

Shana loved insects and science fiction, including Alien and Thunderbirds. She drank her tea white with no sugar. (AUDIO: Hosts of the Wirrn)
