From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Right face, wrong place[[edit source]]

the picture of Tegan reacting to Adric's death is in the wrong part

Her father's name[[edit source]]

William Jovanka? Where does it come from? Prudence Halliwell 16:57, May 21, 2014 (UTC)

As stated in the article, it comes from the novel Divided Loyalties. Shambala108 17:05, May 21, 2014 (UTC)

we may need to add more information about the indivudal episodes that she was in? I think that added more to this character's character arc than it would for other Doctor WHo characters. thanks!! --Sm8900 23:13, February 10, 2020 (UTC)

First Doctor companion?[[edit source]]

I don't see how going to the tower with the First Doctor makes her his companion. You cited 2/Brigadier and 3/Sarah as what I assume you're suggesting, BananaClownMan, are precedents, but the Brig already has a continued association with the Second Doctor, both through other stories (TV: The Web of Fear, The Invasion, The Three Doctors) and through The Five Doctors itself. I personally wouldn't say this is reason enough to constitute companionship, but it's a much better case than for Tegan. Sarah, on the other hand, is already a Third Doctor companion regardless of her Five Doctors appearance, so I'm sure that's irrelevant. Danochy 11:57, May 17, 2020 (UTC)

I could be wrong, but it is my understanding that this Wiki takes an arbitrarily very broad interpretation of what "companion" means — precisely to avoid those kinds of debate. That is to say, unless we have very compelling reasons not to, we usually accept anyone whom some factions consider a companion, to be a companion.
One plausible definition of "companion" is a character who serves as a Doctor's sidekick in at least one story — who fills the shoes of "the not-me one, the asking-questions one". Tegan is that to the First Doctor in that story, albeit briefly. If Christina de Souza and Jackson Lake are counted as companions of the Tenth Doctor, and Barnable as a companion of the Eleventh, we can live with Tegan as a companion of the First. --Scrooge MacDuck 12:26, May 17, 2020 (UTC)
That was pretty much my reasoning behind it.BananaClownMan 14:04, May 17, 2020 (UTC)

"I've seen off two husbands"[[edit source]]

Ignoring for a moment how this contradicts a bunch of expanded universe stuff, I wanted to know if one of these husbands should be treated as if it were William Haybourne, or if both husbands should be separated from him (so, Tegan Jovanka's first husband (The Power of the Doctor) and Tegan Jovanka's second husband (The Power of the Doctor))? WaltK 02:35, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

Well, there was that marketing profile for Tegan released a few days before Power aired that mentioned the "Haybourne" name, so I'd be of a mind to count one as Haybourne. Not sure which though. Perhaps we could follow the The Doctor's sisters precedent and have a single Tegan Jovanka's husbands sort of page where we mention Haybourne without quite committing to whether he's one of the Two or not? Tegan and William got married in the 2020s, so I'd treat them as different people. Jack "BtR" Saxon 10:34, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
I like the Tegan Jovanka's husbands approach. Tegan Jovanka's first husband (The Power of the Doctor) wouldn't really be accurate, especially since dabs are supposed to list the first appearance, not the first mention. – n8 () 17:22, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
As mentioned above, William probably shouldn’t be considered as an identity of one of the ex husbands as Good Companions itself establishes that their relationship ends with his death in the 2030s. More specifically, Tegan is 73 years old when he dies and based on her date of birth given in The Gathering (September 1960) that would place Good Companions in the year 2033 or 2034. Tegan also says she was with William for a decade so they potentially don’t even meet until 2023 after the time frame of Power of the Doctor. If they have he would be her current husband rather than an ex. It should also be noted though that just like The Gathering, Good Companions gives a completely different account of her post TARDIS life.
Michael Tanaka however would be a possible candidate for one of Tegan’s ex husbands as they were on the verge of getting engaged in The Gathering. SarahJaneFan 19:41, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

Relationship with Nyssa[[edit source]]

In The Passenger, it is implied that the events of Farewell, Sarah Jane take place in an alternate universe. The Passenger is itself implied to take place following The Power of the Doctor, with reference to Tegan having met the Thirteenth Doctor. I know Tegan's biography is full of contradictions, but we now have confirmation that at least one of these contradictions takes place in "another universe". With this in mind, should Farewell, Sarah Jane - in which Tegan and Nyssa are a couple, be placed in the "Other Realities" section or left as is? 66 Seconds 08:32, 14 July 2023 (UTC)

I’m not convinced the “another universe” line is that literal. I think it’s just tempting Tegan with the possibility. SherlockTheII 08:39, 14 July 2023 (UTC)
It's only one possibel reading of the line, yeah.
Even if it were explicit, though, it's just the same thing as Zagreus trying to place the different McGann ranges in different universes, and the like. We cover it only as "one account", not as fact, because the original account implicitly constitutes a contradictory statement that these events happened in the main universe. Tegan's coat/jacket in The Power of the Doctor[[edit source]]

Tegan was wearing some jacket/coat as if she were a soldier. Which be it? A trenchcoat, a hussar's jacket, or something else? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 2a00:23c7:ae85:3a01:994b:e3d7:2e07:cbb (talk).
