Who Can It Be Now? was an event in the The Badgey Directive video game made by Eastside Games. It was a crossover event in collaboration with the Doctor Who video game Lost in Time, A Trek to Skaro [+]Loading...["A Trek to Skaro (episode)"]. It featured the Cerritos crew meeting the Tenth Doctor and River Song.

Mariner is complaining that they have to stack crates again. Boimler concurs, saying that while he may not be their favorite, Badgey is usually more creative than that. Meanwhile… Badgey is excited about his most creative drill yet, wondering why he has never tried this before. He says that if he can get the temporal rift working, the "blood balloons" won't know which way is up, saying he will banish them to times and places that would make Soran [BLEEP] himself. The rift expands to Badgey's surprise, and he tells it to stop it, there's no need to brag. Badgey fears that it's gonna tear open a portal between dimensions, fearful that all sorts of riff-raff from a a neighboring universe might find its way in. Somewhere else, The Doctor steps out of his TARDIS, exclaiming "What… What? WHAT?!".

The Doctor says that just a minute ago he was on Skaro with River Song. Taking in his surroundings, he deduces an artificial gravity, meaning he is definitely on a starship, with a stowaway Dalek on the loose. Running back into his TARDIS, he says that he doesn't exactly know River but she may be wondering where he is, telling the TARDIS that this isn't the ideal time to require self-repairs. The Dalek starts regaining consciousness. Over the radio system, Rutherford calls for Boimler and Mariner, asking if they're there.

Rutherford says that Boimler and Mariner are not responding. Tendi says that there are still two life sings in the shuttle bay, but they're not human, so they are not Boimler and Mariner. T'Lyn says that it appears they need to examine the shuttle bay immediately. Tendi ponders. Rutherford says that he didn't know a clothes closet and a pepperpot could give off life signs. The Doctor re-appears, saying he's a Time Lord and tell them to call him "the Doctor". He says that the creature beside him is a Dalek, the most deadly species he knows and that it will try to kill them. The Dalek exclaims exterminate. Rutherford asks if they can throw that thing back through the hole.

Tendi says the Dalek is locked tightly in the brig, but probably won't stay that way. T'Lyn asks if the Doctor can determine the circumstances under which he arrived on the Cerritos. The Doctor says that it's the standard story, he didn't intend to be there, so there he is, as he sits down in the captain's seat. Rutherford tries to explain that the seat is reserved for the cap-, but interrupts himself as he just has to accept it. The Doctor continues that he was on Skaro, then he stepped into his ship, which is now broken. Then he found himself roughly whisked onto their ship. Tendi says that Mariner and Boimler disappeared exactly where the Doctor arrived. Rutherford asks if this could be a wormhole, a portal between universes. The Doctor says he's a Time Lord but usually only stick to one universe, so if he's here, they must be… - back on Skaro, River apologizes to Boimler and Mariner for their predicament, but right now she needs them to fight the Daleks.

Billups tells the Doctor that his TARDIS is a remarkable piece of tech. The Doctor concurs, saying that when she's working, she is the best in this and in any universe. Rutherford asks him what the 3D glasses are for. The Doctor says he's just checking for Void stuff, but there's nothing to worry about. Rutherford says his tricorder can't interface with the TARDIS to learn why it's not fixing itself. The Doctor says his sonic screwdriver might be able to translate the code if they can hack the two together. A lot of heavy-duty sciencing later… Rutherford says it’s working and the sonic tricorder is collecting data from the TARDIS. The Doctor says it's brilliant, and that they should be able to fix it, as long as they have the parts. Billups says he will tell the Doctor about replicators.

T'Lyn tells Badgey that they need to win condition for the drill to be fair and his portal has prevented that. Badgey tries to refer to Article II, Section B, Subsection IV of their contract, but is interrupted by Tendi who demands that Badgey keep the rift open so they can rescue Mariner and Boimler. Badgey reluctantly agrees to keep it open for 12 hours, then he's closing it forever, whether they've been rescued or not. Later, Tendi is worried as Badgey is only gonna keep the portal open for 9 hours. T'Lyn adds that this is how long they have to rescue Mariner and Boimler and send the Doctor back home. Rutherford says that 9 hours is an odd number for an ultimatum. Tendi says it was originally 12, but the Dalek got out of the brig, but luckily didn't find the turbolifts. T'Lyn adds that they needed to find someone trustworthy to guard it. Elsewhere, Troi tells the Dalek they need to find out why it needs to conquer and destroy, asking who hurt it, but Riker tells her that it's not working asking if he can beat it up now.

Tendi tries to communicate with Boimler and Mariner through the portal, but gets nothing. She says that theoretically if the portal is open they should be able to. T'Lyn says that there's a tremendous amount of radiation emanating from the portal and that this could be what is disrupting the communication signal. Tendi adds that it will kill them if they don’t perform the rescue and close the portal soon. T'Lyn says that it is unfortunate that they're not on an ocean planet as water is an ideal shield against radiation. Tendi gets an idea from the mention of ocean. T'Lyn asks what it is.

In the shuttle bay, Rutherford has succeeded in his endeavors. The Doctor says he is brilliant, and to just ask if he ever wants an adventure in time and space. Tendi and T'Lyn has joined them. Tendi, carrying a bottle, says they know what to do. Rutherford says that he knows the situation is dire but that he doesn't think drinking is the answer. T'Lyn says that radiation in the portal is preventing them from communicating with Mariner and Boimler, and Tendi adds that they're doing this analog and that she made a message in the bottle to throw through the portal. The Doctor says there's no need as the TARDIS is almost repaired, saying he can travel through the portal to rescue their friends and get himself back home. T'Lyn says that there isn't sufficient time as Badgey's deadline is imminent. Tendi says that T'Lyn is right and in this universe time is the enemy, as she throws the bottle through the portal.

Billups says that a message came back, asking what it says. Tendi reads it, "sorry friends, but we won't be coming back. We're having a great time with River Song. Have fun with Badgey!". Rutherford and Billups are saddened. An angry Badgey says that he doesn't think so and that it won't do as they're his. The Doctor says that Badgey is quite right and luckily he left the portal open so he can fetch them. Badgey retorts that he doesn't care for the Doctor's twee British patois, but that he makes a good point. He demands nobody leaves until he returns, then flies through the portal. The Doctor says that that was easier than he thought and adds that they fixed the TARDIS, but that he's not going anywhere until Mariner and Boimler are back safe.

As they all stand in one place, Badgey notes that the gang's all here. He thinks to himself what he should do with them and ponders if this is what the dog catching the hovercar feels like. The Doctor says that now that the gang is in fact all here, he, River and K9 will be taking their leave, as he is sure they don’t need them around getting on their way. Badgey retorts that he should "pile that motley crew [of his] into that flying yurt and skedaddle". Boimler thanks River for her help and for her charm. River thanks them for being quick studies at neutralizing Daleks. Rutherford says goodbye to the Doctor, asking if they will ever see him again. The Doctor replies that one can never know as time is just a ball of wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff. The TARDIS crew takes off into the wormhole. Badgey says that he really got to seal it up now.

Mariner says that the Dalek has now been beamed off the ship and that should be the last loose end. Tendi asks her where she sent it. Mariner says she sent it to Ceti Alpha V. Boimler says that they knew the message would force Badgey to come get them. T'Lyn adds that he may be evil and extremely powerful but like all beings, he has an ego. Tendi says it's too bad they won't see the Doctor or River Song again. Rutherford says he's not so sure. Boimler asks if he means the timey-wimey stuff. Rutherford says that too, but that he forgot something he might want to come back for, saying that he still has the Doctor's 3D glasses.

Later in another predicament in which they have been trapped inside a room. Boimler asks the Doctor if he can't help them break out, since he is a being of unimaginable power. The Doctor says he can't do that since he has a non-interference policy. River tells Tendi how it's funny that this only applies when he feels like it. Boimler likens it to the Prime Directive, as that would make sense and says they have to solve it by themselves. Rutherford says it’s a shame because he'd like to geek out with the Doctor some more about engineering but understands if he's got other things to do. The Doctor says he suppose he can hang around for a while and fit it into his busy schedule, as he is after all a Time Lord. River angrily tells Tendi that it's funny how this never applies to his marriage.

You’ll need trades to get the chips you need for automation. Keep an eye out for Kynk, and collect chips from Simulation milestones so you can trade with him!

  • Due to the fact that this event is a crossover storyline, the player may find gaps in the story that disconnects some parts of it. These gaps will be filled out in the twin-event A Trek to Skaro [+]Loading...["A Trek to Skaro (episode)"] in Doctor Who: Lost in Time.
  • The epilogue scene does not really have any proper connection to the event and serves as more of an introduction of the characters to the main game The Badgey Directive. This is a common stable with all events of the Lower Decks mobile game.
