The Emperor's Spy was a TV Comic story featuring the Fourth Doctor and Sarah-Jane Smith.

In 19th century England, the Fourth Doctor helps the Admiralty perfect a submarine for use against Napoleon, and runs afoul of a French spy.

  • The Doctor can control his oxygen need due to his Time Lord metabolism, but he "can't hold [his] breath for ever".
  • Sarah has to pretend to be a man called "Young Smithson" due a woman in trousers not being an understandable concept in the 19th century.
