  • 09 - Coronation Street debuted on UK television. Still in production in 2013, it became the longest-running UK drama TV series of all time and one of the few shows to surpass Doctor Who in longevity. Many Doctor Who cast members, before and after their involvement in Who, appeared on the series over the decades. The series' popularity in the ratings was considered a contributing factor in the cancellation of Doctor Who in 1989, after it had been scheduled against the still-popular programme.
