Early in her travels with the First Doctor, Barbara Wright already had a bedroom aboard the TARDIS. It was located in the sleeping quarters.

Barbara tried to get some sleep there shortly after leaving Skaro, but a fault with the TARDIS made this difficult, due to the flashing lights it had caused. (PROSE: The Edge of Destruction)
