- This story was a crossover with Mrs. Brown's Boys and The Gruffalo.
- Several stars who appear as themselves had previously appeared in Doctor Who as other characters, namely Anne Robinson (playing an android version of herself), Hugh Quarshie and June Brown, as her Eastenders character Dot Cotton (TV: Dermot and the Doctor). Several would go on to join the Doctor Who cast in the future. Most notably, John Bishop would play Dan Lewis, companion to the Thirteenth Doctor, for nine episodes in 2021-22. Likewise, Alexander Armstrong, Lee Mack, Frank Skinner and Lenny Henry would all make guest appearances.
