The Amser Hotel was a hotel in Roath, Cardiff, Wales. The hotel was an upmarket rest stop for wealthy businessmen from London, Manchester and even further abroad.
During the 1860s, the hotel was run by Bilis Manger. In 1869, the Rift tore through the building with "eerie pink flames", causing people to disappear and apparitions of ghosts and demons to appear. During the attack the Rift "left something behind". In attacking the hotel, the Rift also trapped Manger and forced him to do its bidding.
After the attack, the hotel fell into disrepair and became significantly lower class, attracting less scrupulous businessmen and prostitutes from Adamstown and Cathays. The hotel was demolished in 1914, shortly before the outbreak of World War I.
In 2004, construction began on the Clockhouse Hotel on the same site, exactly one hundred thirty-five years to the day after the Rift's attack. (COMIC: Broken)
